- azntzouie, on 04/29/2008, -4/+289Ad agency had nothing to do with this - this was user-made.
Creator's work is here:

Sorry to burst the bubble. - uriman, on 04/29/2008, -4/+193its a tribute
- LegendaryHitman, on 04/29/2008, -14/+169CRAZY...I guess you use whatever works...20 years, and the formula is still good...
- inactive, on 04/29/2008, -3/+157It's all, part of the plan.
- TwineHornet, on 04/29/2008, -0/+90Diggers have a short memory----the old "trailer" was made by a youtube user copying the new trailer. He wasn't trying to fool anyone, he just found it to be fun. That also made the front page not too long ago.
- FearisFailure, on 04/29/2008, -11/+94Bad Ass!! I love Heath as the joker.
- bixby1, on 04/29/2008, -1/+69I wonder what happens if you watch the Dark Knight while listening to Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon?
- Marvelboy, on 04/29/2008, -3/+62Are we absolutely sure that's the original trailer? I was three when this was appearing before movies, so I have no idea.
Either way, that was neat. - kss42, on 04/29/2008, -5/+64to the greatest song in the world
- nhprm, on 04/29/2008, -17/+68For such similarity to occur, they must have looked @ the old one and copied it with similar scenes. I am pretty impressed by the ad agency: as Legendary Hitman said before me, they "use[d] whatever work[ed]."
- DrunkenSavior, on 04/29/2008, -2/+48(Bursts through the wall)
OH YEAH!!! - dunnylovehun, on 04/29/2008, -2/+32The old trailer that appears in this video was not the trailer. It was edited to match up with the new one. So essentially you're marveling at someone who edited together footage from the old movie to match up with the new trailer. Not really that cool.
- TommyDons, on 04/29/2008, -8/+37Yes it is a tribute, but the main reason they did it was for it to get this exact response. It creates a little buzz and increases interest. You have to give the PR department some credit for this one!
- pootpoot, on 04/29/2008, -0/+27For the last time, the 1989 "trailer" shown here was fan made! It was created right after the TDK trailer came out. The ACTUAL Batman 1989 trailer can be seen at IMDB (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096895/trailers-scree ... Drastically different than the TDK one...
- Evdog, on 04/29/2008, -1/+26Yeah, it's got to be intentional.
I actually think it's really cool. - dagamer34, on 04/29/2008, -14/+37May he rest in peace.
- Rage67, on 04/29/2008, -4/+27it is a re-make... i just think they are staying
true to the roots while making it modern
either way i love it - lupin0132, on 04/29/2008, -0/+23this is the original trailer: http://youtube.com/watch?v=unkqbgLDgaI&feature=rel ...
but i agree, still fun to watch. - mtwoar, on 04/29/2008, -1/+20Some joker I'm sure.
- Lst01, on 04/29/2008, -0/+19That was very well done but the 1989 scenes were NOT the original trailer. Rather, it was made to look like the trailer for the 2008 film.
Someone did the same thing with the 1966 Batman movie:

- inactive, on 04/29/2008, -0/+19Summer 1989._.
I WAS 21 YEARS OLD IN SUMMER 1989!!! ... I feel old. - mikepictor, on 04/29/2008, -4/+22WTF
Who pissed in your cereal? - jasonmacsween, on 04/29/2008, -0/+17Why so serious?
- Lanlost, on 04/29/2008, -1/+17I said this in a previous post but I keep forgetting that Heath Ledger is the joker.
I mean.. if you asked me who played the Joker in the Dark Knight I would say "Heath Ledger" but every time I see a poster or promotional piece or trailer or anything where it lists him or shows him I always have a "Wow, Heath Ledger is in this" kind of reaction.
I haven't seen many of his movies, I just never really paid attention to him because I (apparently mistakenly) always assumed he was an actor who did teeny bopper type movies i.e. A Knight's Tale.
That being said, he seems... rather amazing in this role. - jebudas, on 04/29/2008, -1/+15"When you die, if you get a choice between going to regular heaven or pie heaven, choose pie heaven. It might be a trick, but if it's not, mmmmmmm, boy."
+ Jack Handy - ayeroxor, on 04/29/2008, -3/+17He was probably just sarcastically poking fun at all the people on the internet who like to "try on" an emotion and say some empty platitude about a person they never knew. Sure, he seemed like a decent guy, but I'm not going to go around in internet forums eulogizing the guy. "May he rest in peace"? Daggmor should be shot in the face simply for starting an imperative sentence with the word "may."
- MOates, on 04/29/2008, -0/+14Damn, it's hard to watch old movie trailers.
- inactive, on 04/29/2008, -2/+16If it ain't broke don't fix it.
- DjArcadian, on 04/29/2008, -2/+15They must have been hoping that the similarity would be exposed. A subtle type of viral market layered on-top of regular marketing.
- ByteGuerilla, on 04/29/2008, -2/+15If so, why so?
- jaydoj, on 04/29/2008, -3/+15I was looking around and found this on the original site....RIP Heath, your talents will be missed.

:( - Ravenlock, on 04/29/2008, -0/+10It's great editing work, guys, but the portion on the top isn't the original 1989 trailer. Just clips from the Keaton Batman movie edited together to resemble the Dark Knight trailer.
Very cool video, but no, the new trailer isn't an "old trailer homage", or anything like that. The "old trailer" in this video didn't exist until the guy created it for this video. - CrimsonBlur, on 04/29/2008, -1/+11Have you actually seen A Knight's Tale? It's actually pretty good. So was Casanova. I know, I was surprised too. The Patriot, good in that too. And despite being a silly teenybopper movie, Ten Things I Hate About You wasn't bad, the reason? Heath Ledger. Then there's Brokeback Mountain... he's had a number of great roles.
- levitron, on 04/29/2008, -0/+10Yes, and it's Lando Calrissian
- jakobmakob, on 04/29/2008, -0/+9
'Ti Tuga digga tu Gi Friba fligugibu Uh Fligugigbu Uh Di Ei Friba Du Gi Fligu fligugigugi Flilibili Ah - spooky07, on 04/29/2008, -0/+9Harvey Dent is in Batman 1989.
- StrubyTuesday, on 04/29/2008, -0/+9^ agreed. You can't go wrong with Jack Nicholson as an insane criminal
- dagamer34, on 04/29/2008, -0/+9No offense to the original Batman, but the Joker looks like a real life Playskool doll. Pretty excited about Christopher Nolan's direction with the series.
"Comic book movies done right". It's about damn time. None of that Fantastic Four, Incredible Hulk (2003), X-men 3 crap that makes your cringe from watching it and makes you wonder if the director or screenwriters like pissing on our childhood memories. - Makaveli604, on 04/29/2008, -0/+9Right, because we can do something else in a thread that starts this way.
- thenewkasanova, on 04/29/2008, -8/+16Wow. Just wow.
- killbert24, on 04/29/2008, -4/+12Wow that is freaking awesome! If anything, seeing the similarities makes me more excited to see TDK because I loved Burton's Batman so much.
- grimward, on 04/29/2008, -0/+8ahaha, you're SO dugg for the phrase "he's in hell toby" .. that would make an excellent funeral short skit :D
- NinjaJoey, on 04/29/2008, -0/+7The old Batmobile is amazing and possibly made of win... by hand.
- MOJIRA, on 05/17/2008, -1/+8Keep in mind that the filmmakers don't usually cut their own trailers together. But this was obviously a conscious effort on somebody's part to pay tribute to the '89 Batman.
On the other hand, maybe the whole film has a similar dynamic to the original because what are the odds that there would be enough similar footage to cut identical trailers together.
Are the two movies based off the same comic? (I mean, the same issue... like Batman Begins was based on "Batman: The Man Who Falls, Batman: Year One and Batman: The Long Halloween.") - inactive, on 04/29/2008, -2/+9buried as inaccurate then
- Phylodome, on 04/29/2008, -0/+7PR majors on Digg? Wow this place has really gone downhill.
- Raphyy, on 04/29/2008, -2/+9Umm...or not? Your actually really annoying.
- WoollyMittens, on 04/29/2008, -1/+8It did not in fact suck.
- MOJIRA, on 05/17/2008, -2/+9OH, so someone took footage from the '89 Batman and made it like the Dark Knight trailer?
- inactive, on 04/29/2008, -0/+6No music during the entire middle section of the trailer!!? How did we stand this stuff?? We probably saw the Batwing and the missiles' special effects and just started drooling.
