- elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+39Therefore you must be a table?
- DougieD, on 10/12/2007, -1/+31That sounds much more disgusting, in a sadistic sense.
edit; you changed your comment. loser! - transeunte, on 10/12/2007, -0/+29Man, the "Balls" title ruined it for me. I was already expecting the girl to be a dude.
- grungyhamster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+29Well, I suppose you're unable to get out of your frame of mind to get the joke. That's too bad, it's pretty funny.
-EDIT-
Yeah, he said something about running into a knife instead. - tofagerl, on 10/12/2007, -1/+29How is this banned? It was shown in another country, and not in the US. That's not banned, that's foreign.
There is no reason whatsoever it couldn't be shown anywhere in the world, with the possible exception of some asian and african countries where it would actually be banned. - dougmwpsu, on 10/12/2007, -3/+26just to let you all know, the french translates to:
Too many pieces of furniture? - themaestro8, on 10/12/2007, -3/+24I have to say, at least Ikea is taking risks. I mean that one is pretty funny but there are another two even funnier banned Ikea commercials as well.
- omaryak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14It's not a risk in France.
- transeunte, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Calm down, that doesn't make you "ghey".
- masterkenobi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Quagmire: Hey there baby, how 'bout showing me the Lower-East side?
Transvestite: Sure.
Quagmire: WHOA! Transvestite! BACK OFF! Wait, pre-op or post-op?
Transvestite: Pre-op.
Quagmire: WHOA! Transvestite! BACK OFF! - gcnaddict, on 10/12/2007, -7/+18I see.
- vicaya, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8879700194156669729
This one fits "that" part of the title better... - gcnaddict, on 10/12/2007, -7/+15It's an ad!
- TekeeTakShak, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I didnt see that coming o_O
- markormesher, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8actually, there are some loopholes in US law that allow the government itself to ban things, they can raise taxes on companies and channels that produce or distribute things that they do not approve of. That is why the movie Battle Royale has not been distributed by an American company.
Interesting land of the free eh? - TomS64, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7(S)he is hot.
- anareric, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10America is too homophobic for this ad to be effective. Although, if you have ever been in an Ikea, it is representative of a significant percentage of their clientele.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7wow I liked her...... I guess I'd screw it till it's penis fell off
- snubber, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8To me this looks like some ad company made a bunch of ads, called them banned uploaded to google video and waited for the viral video system to get ahold of them so you're now *willingly* watching commercials for ikea.
- LRoy12, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9i thought she was cute ;P i bet she really is a girl
- coheedcollapse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Is it really banned? Ikea always has weird, edgy, reasonably funny commercials like this, I couldn't imagine it being banned. There's one with a kid finding it's Mom's dildo and playing with it like a toy airplane, I think if anything that'd be banned before this (even though it's damn funny).
- 0zzy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Actually transsexuals are really popular/accepted in Thailand (Asia), they have like 50 soap operas about it:) So I don't think it would be banned there.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2even before submitting it, I knew someone would say that. :D
- ElFredo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4NOT FAKE!
"IKEA never tease out an advert like that, the product is the star of the slot rather than the tease! Three reasons why this is fake..."
WRONG. You obviously don't know much about the advertisement industry. This is a true IKEA ad screened on French TV. I perfectly remember having seen this one. Another ad showed a mother searching for her baby in a pile of dirty clothes. Their motto was "Rangez" (tidy up) at this time.
"IKEA never show any other furniture than their own in a commercial, which is being used for it's form or function."
"No company pays for the product being sold to be on screen flashed up that quick at the end. At least 25" of 30" is build up to the pack-shot and even then it looks like it's been scanned in from the brochure - none of it seems to sit right."
WRONG, WRONG. Most IKEA ads on French TV use this format: the main body of the ad shows what NOT to do, followed by shots of actual IKEA stuff (usually furnitures).
"IKEA adverts are made for international broadcast, the others JJ Connections has posted on google video have things like a tv set broadcasting in french with an English tagline - that's a no-no. They are usually re-dubbed for their prospective market."
WRONG. Ads are localized. Moreover, European ads are usually funnier and more audacious than US ones, because of less political correctness on this side of the Pond.
FYI they used a Brazilian soundrack because most transvestite prostitutes in the Paris area (Bois de Boulogne) used to be Brazilian. So when there's a slightly androgynic woman with a Brazilian soundtrack, it's a good hint that she's not a woman. - omaryak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah – "Too many pieces of furniture?" "Ikea – solutions for small spaces."
- MrTea, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What an obvious trap.
- rhkaloge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There is a whole lot of "banned" commercials out there that were either not shown because they were not ment to be shown (viral marketing) or shown in other contries. But "banned" sounds better than "not seen on TV" I guess.
- donquixote235, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Generally when talking about commercials, I've discovered that the vast majority of "banned" commercials really aren't. Companies like to use the word "banned" because it makes the person viewing it think that he's watching something taboo, and therefore more intriguing.
- UKsHaDoW, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I agree, the op ruined the "nice" surprise. :(
- yahoofrom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1But the title contained a spoiler. "balls"
- rudedogdhc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@tofagerl
The FCC decides what and what cannot be displayed on TV. The FCC is an arm of the US government. If the FCC bans an ad, then effectively the US has banned the ad. And before anybody says that the FCC doesn't actually ban anything, the policy of levying punitive fines against "offensive" broadcasts is tantamount to banning. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It says Balls right in the video title. I soo wish to be able to change the title on that video itself (which I did not post).
It's for this reason that I normally see the video before reading the description or, sometimes, even the title ;). - jonshipman, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4hell, it's the norm
- tofagerl, on 10/12/2007, -7/+7@Kingfoot: The US does not ban TV. The FCC and the networks themselves decide what can be aired. And this would NOT be banned.
- grondin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"trop de meubles?" = "too many pieces of furniture?" according to google language tools.
- shotgunefx, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Honestly, looks like a dude.
- Jugalator, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1So, can someone explain to me why it is banned?
- ElFredo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0It's not, just not shown on US TV (it's a French ad).
- lamestory, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1not funny at all, shocking that it hit the front page!
- UKsHaDoW, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4Probably is a girl, but there are ones which you can't tell, and look good. Trust me :S
- onuo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0If it's french, that explains alot... :) Your output must be hellava bad, if that gets passed for tx...
In the industry here in the UK and in the US - my reasons stlll stand, also IKEA is a client of ours! So, I'm afriad I do know alot ! - someguyouknow, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0The trickery!!!
- Rhaegal, on 10/12/2007, -20/+16It's a trap!
- DarkSorrow, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3it the FCC and the networks that prevent some commericals to show the ads.
There is a news about a terrorist kidnapped a american citizen (a plumber?) and the terrorist really show the knife or a saw cutting the man neck while he is a alive. it all un-censored, FCC refused to show it, but the news did comment the what is happening. EU (Europe Nation) did show the video of it. so i lives in america and never saw his video, i really want to see it what it realy look like and lucky the few website got a video of it and host it. so i took a glimpes of it and so sad..... cutting a guy neck while he is alive, i can see his face, screaming.
Other countries show more than FCC and the networks bans. honestly, we, american citizen would like to see more. but again FCC and the networ is controlling it. so nothing we can do unless we can write to our congress about it. - wzrds3, on 10/12/2007, -13/+8It's a man, baby!
- onuo, on 10/12/2007, -10/+4FAKE...
IKEA never tease out an advert like that, the product is the star of the slot rather than the tease! Three reasons why this is fake...
- IKEA never show any other furniture than their own in a commercial, which is being used for it's form or function.
- IKEA adverts are made for international broadcast, the others JJ Connections has posted on google video have things like a tv set broadcasting in french with an English tagline - that's a no-no. They are usually re-dubbed for their prospective market.
- No company pays for the product being sold to be on screen flashed up that quick at the end. At least 25" of 30" is build up to the pack-shot and even then it looks like it's been scanned in from the brochure - none of it seems to sit right.
Watch the other commercials "JJ Connections" has on there and none of them are real, also the tagline "tidy up", "If not for yourself for the others" - is not correct English. It should be "...for others" not "for the others" - in conventional English, the reader would not know who "the" others are.
This does looks either a student piece or a marketing house mock-up as the cuts do not have a natural rhythm, sorry just wanted to point that out as I work on this kinda stuff everyday! - kingfoot, on 10/12/2007, -14/+4the US banned it maybe? thats how its banned.
- Kaleb, on 10/12/2007, -14/+0Aww, yea.
