8 Movie Adaptations that Must be Stopped
cracked.com — Scrapping the bottom of the barrel for movie ideas.
- 1755 diggs
- digg it
- NCSUspoon, on 03/06/2008, -0/+236Would the Sims movie be just a bunch of people vacuuming or crying because they crapped their pants or something?
- thebellmaster1x, on 03/06/2008, -0/+90For me, it would be more of people going for a swim and suddenly discovering that there's no way out of the pool.
That, or just every character confined to a little cell with a picture of a clown in it. - bluezinc, on 03/06/2008, -1/+43No, it would be about a vindictive and murderous god who deletes the ladders from swimming pools, forcing sims to swim until they drown for his enjoyment.
- Hraes, on 03/06/2008, -0/+22THAT MOVIE WOULD BE AWESOME.
- Hraes, on 03/06/2008, -0/+26Wait, did you just describe Saw 4?
- SohailKhanifar, on 03/06/2008, -0/+44The script would consist of "Rebesshian ashiba bobo blabla shebishasha vroom vroom!"
- KingGorilla, on 03/06/2008, -0/+7MYSHUNO!
- 4degrees, on 03/06/2008, -0/+1Plunny laa!
- Yaanu, on 03/06/2008, -1/+13It could also possibly be a movie where people's houses catch on fire due to a bad placement of a wooden chair and/or old newspapers.
Anyone got that VGCats comic?- RpgActioN, on 03/06/2008, -0/+12http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=122
- elchuy, on 03/06/2008, -2/+14The Sims movie would be about all the neighbors having sex with each other while their spouse watch and cry.
- ronaldinho, on 03/06/2008, -1/+3well why would they crying if they are also having sex with their neightbor's spouses? I would pay to watch one huge city orgy where everyone decides to meet up at City Hall and get down
- antiorblkflag9, on 03/06/2008, -1/+5Oh No! Where did the door to the small window-less room go?
MWAHAHAHAHA, NO DIE IN A PUDDLE OF YOUR OWN URINE!!! - PunkRampant, on 03/06/2008, -0/+6I would love that movie. Seriously, a whole family crying because they don't have a toilet and had to crap their pants! It's comedy gold and no movie has ever done it before.
- Gustomucho, on 03/06/2008, -1/+1It may be a "matrix" of real life thing. A mix of the Others and Matrix. Things change without the people understanding, ghosts, crying baby in the night. The sudden removal of a ladder of the swimming pool, burglars, fire, lots of stuff, then we realize its a video game, not real people.
- Disneyisevil50, on 03/06/2008, -1/+1It would definately be locking the sims in little 2X2 squares with only a fireworks set...also deleting the bed while the sims have sex
- dougdiggerton, on 03/06/2008, -1/+1im sure it would have a thrilling plot, like the game..
- thebellmaster1x, on 03/06/2008, -0/+90For me, it would be more of people going for a swim and suddenly discovering that there's no way out of the pool.
- s0medantastic, on 03/06/2008, -6/+26I really want to see Horton Hears A Who, that book was part of my childhood :)
- dunnylovehun, on 03/06/2008, -4/+64Get ready to have your childhood crapped on.
- NonLeftistDiggr, on 03/06/2008, -0/+17Grinch, cat in the hat? Some of the best books ever!.......look at the movies. Holy crap what blasphemy that was.
- astrotrain, on 03/06/2008, -2/+1Yeah and so far they were all rated PG!... WTF!?
I don't recall Dr. Seuss writing about any adult related material in the book, such as in the move when the Cats hat gets big when he looks at the mom's picture... or where he gets whacked in the balls as the piñata .
I was shocked to see Horton has a 'G' rating... its VERY rare to find a children's movie anymore with a G. Hollywood seems to like making PG kids movies. And Disney gets away with it when they hide behind their Touchtone "Adult" branch.
- astrotrain, on 03/06/2008, -2/+1Yeah and so far they were all rated PG!... WTF!?
- pentak, on 03/06/2008, -16/+12***** Jim Carrey & ***** Dane Cook - two of the most over-rated hacks ever.
- Kerrigore, on 03/06/2008, -1/+14I wanted to digg you up for saying Dane Cook sucks and yet digg you down for saying Jim Carey sucks. So I compromised by leaving this comment.
- absurdist, on 03/06/2008, -5/+3Sorry, Kerrigore, but Jim Carrey sucks eleven different flavors of ass. I've counted.
- diggapleasee, on 03/06/2008, -0/+1you really seem to know your ass flavors there, aburdist
- absurdist, on 03/07/2008, -0/+1*nods* The worst is Ernest Borgnine's. Don't ask how I know.
- doctechnical, on 03/06/2008, -0/+23If they try to make a movie out of "Green Eggs and Ham", so help me God, somebody is going to die.
What did Dr. Suess ever do to deserve this ***** done in his name?- frankenfag, on 03/06/2008, -0/+9His widow is responsible.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dr_Suess#Adaptations_ ...
- frankenfag, on 03/06/2008, -0/+9His widow is responsible.
- Tyrghast, on 03/06/2008, -2/+2And speed race, an dragonball. They were all stuff i loved as a kid and i'm looking foward to them as well. If they're good, great! If they're bad, ill still enjoy having a good laugh.
- w00t4me, on 03/06/2008, -0/+4What i think made the other adaptations of Dr. Seuss movies fail was the attempt at live action. the original animated Grinch was great. and also 'where the wild things are 'sounds awesome!
- Audacitor, on 03/06/2008, -1/+4I really don't want to see Horton Hears A Who, that book was part of my childhood.
- arrrapirate, on 03/06/2008, -0/+2they made Horton look so goddamned sleazy
- mydigga, on 03/06/2008, -5/+1To everyone complaining about the Dr. Seuss movies above... you do realize these movies are made for children, right? How many if you are still hanging on to your beanie baby collections?
- Ludwig, on 03/06/2008, -0/+1Beanie Babies didn't exist when we were kids. Also, don't you ever compare the good Dr. Seuss to those stuffed animals.
- bobbyi, on 03/06/2008, -0/+2Monopoly was part of my childhood but that doesn't obligate me to see the ***** movie.
- burnin8r28, on 03/06/2008, -0/+1screw u guys. horton hears a who is guna b good.
=[
- sjbdallas, on 03/06/2008, -2/+32I'm looking forward to Anne Hathaway as Agent 99. Only other one on the list i'm interested in is Speed Racer.
- badassninja, on 03/06/2008, -0/+13"Anne Hathaway as Agent 99"........ I .. Have... to see this movie. I mean I already wanted to watch it but.... there are no words.
- doctechnical, on 03/06/2008, -0/+4I have this sneaking suspicion that if you've seen the trailer, you've seen all the funny. Wouldn't be the first film where that's happened.
- Llanowar, on 03/06/2008, -0/+13I'm looking forward to Anne Hathaway in my bed.
- mhensley1288, on 03/06/2008, -0/+1ZING!
- astrotrain, on 03/06/2008, -0/+1Hollywood is washed up right up there with Disney and its 20 gazillion sequels to its classic movies.
- Enche, on 03/06/2008, -1/+30The Monopoly movie isn't at the top of the list?
How would it have any substance? Why was it even considered to be a movie?
>_- jdeuel, on 03/06/2008, -0/+9Clue?
- doctechnical, on 03/06/2008, -2/+18But Clue (the game) actually has a frinkin' plot. Monopoly just involves going around and around and around.
I can hardly wait for the Mousetrap movie. - clownfart, on 03/06/2008, -16/+4Clue has already been made into a movie.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088930/- DarKnight90, on 03/06/2008, -0/+11That being the point of the post.
- jun2san, on 03/06/2008, -0/+3Communism was just a red herring.
- jeff303, on 03/06/2008, -0/+1Rich Uncle Pennybags - The Man Beneath the Hat
- Picaroon, on 03/06/2008, -0/+1And now I'm going to go home and sleep with my wife!
- doctechnical, on 03/06/2008, -2/+18But Clue (the game) actually has a frinkin' plot. Monopoly just involves going around and around and around.
- estvir, on 03/06/2008, -1/+17No way, Sex and the City deserved the #1 spot. Sarah Jessica Parker's face is utterly disgusting, I actually find myself looking away from the screen if feasible if for who the hell knows why I'm watching a movie that contains her.. which I think the last one was Failure to Launch which was only bearable thanks to Zooey Deschanel.
- warrenchang78, on 03/06/2008, -0/+4i'm sorry but the monopoly movie has already been made...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cl1aZ42Pj7U- HaroldHupmobile, on 03/06/2008, -0/+3Yes! I almost shat myself the first time I saw that.
- ricksite, on 03/06/2008, -0/+1If you liked that, check out the other Secret Pants videos.
- mrm3x1can, on 03/06/2008, -0/+0this is one of the only times im expecting a rick roll vid but dont get it thanks!
- Double0Doug, on 03/06/2008, -1/+5The American movie industry isn’t *****; it is a great example of consumerism. Hollywood is about making products that turn a profit, not about creating “art” or “awareness”.
That’s not to say there aren’t good movies made in America or even by Hollywood, but don’t delude yourself into thinking that this industry is into making anything more than toys for your eyes.
Even those few and far between movies that proclaim a message are just a vehicle for the same old tripe. It’s about entertainment, enjoy it… except when they ruin your childhood…bastards. - Versh, on 03/06/2008, -1/+4Spoiler alert: The main protagonist is actually convicted when the court finds that he in fact rolled "doubles" three times in a row....I'm not going to say if he affords the $50 bail and makes it to Marvin Gardens in time to convert those low income housing into upscale hotels-- that would ruin the ending!
:] - astrotrain, on 03/06/2008, -0/+2There are people out there who would even go see "iPod: The Movie". Its all due to the marketing thing, if something sells good, there are books, movies breakfast cereals, and even action figures to be made. Even before the movie comes (aka Star Wars EP1... Lucas is a greedy man)... or have make believe critics say "Its the Best Movie since... or this year.... (aka The Animal).
Put it in a movie, and people will pay. Just get Don Iafontaine, to announce the movie coming out, and its pack of action, suspense, etc, and people will flock...
Don lafontaine: "This year... make sure you see the most thrilling, most musical most anything movie...iPOD The Movie...."
And there goes some folks now to camp out for tickets for this movie...oh and here come the t-shirts...and towels... oh and look a cuddly stuffed iPod animal.... see it will never end as long as there are people who will shell money out. - burnin8r28, on 03/06/2008, -0/+1they have boardwalk!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO - Scheissen, on 03/07/2008, -0/+1I'd see it. Monopoly is a great idea. But I think liberal Hollywood would try to make a movie warning about monopolies while they bitch and moan about how the internet is stealing all their money.
- jdeuel, on 03/06/2008, -0/+9Clue?
- deezp1, on 03/06/2008, -0/+51Now if the Sims Movie had someone remove the pool ladder while someone is in it and they drown, that be worth the price of admission...
- astrotrain, on 03/06/2008, -0/+1Who did they cast for the voice or character of the Mouse pointer for the Sims... maybe Adam West?
Adam West: "Stay still you little Sim so I can click you....." - ronaldinho, on 03/06/2008, -0/+3you know, I really think if they could make a Sims Movie, they could make a Roller Coaster Tycoon movie, where all the roller coasters have their own versions of "once you take that ride, well it's your last ride and you will never get off the coaster again"
- astrotrain, on 03/06/2008, -0/+1Who did they cast for the voice or character of the Mouse pointer for the Sims... maybe Adam West?
- bookishboy, on 03/06/2008, -2/+73Scraping.
"Scrapping" the barrel would mean throwing it away or recycling it.- 1randomguy08, on 03/06/2008, -11/+1Recycle wood? Really?
- thefreshjive, on 03/06/2008, -1/+3It's called particle wood.
- chewties, on 03/06/2008, -0/+2if these movies were in the barrel they should just throw it away.
- 1randomguy08, on 03/06/2008, -11/+1Recycle wood? Really?
- DeviantDragon, on 03/06/2008, -3/+36Actually I'm really anticipating Get Smart. I'm surprised that's on the list.
- trunkster, on 03/06/2008, -4/+14Yeah, and was transformers really that bad? Sure it wasn't exactly like a cartoon but it seemed like they made the best decisions for a live-action movie.
- DarKnight90, on 03/06/2008, -3/+11The only people that disliked Transformers were hardcore fans that were upset that it wasn't like the cartoon.
- apetrie, on 03/06/2008, -4/+2Nah, it was badly made. I realize action was the point, but it didn't have to be so incredibly stupid in all other aspects. It disappointed me, and I wasn't wanting it to be just like the cartoon.
- stvspl, on 03/06/2008, -0/+1Also, people who don't like dumb Hollywood action movies.
- Double0Doug, on 03/06/2008, -0/+3That movie would have been great if they hadn’t tried to recreate the entire transformers universe with the whole all spark thing. They could have kept every scene and almost all of the dialogue and just replaced the “all spark” with existing constructs in the original story arc.
- jcholewa, on 03/06/2008, -0/+2Yeah, but the all spark wasn't all that horrible of a macguffin, and it added a minor deus ex machina (er, well, machina ex machina) to make the existance of intelligent shapeshifting robots easier to swallow for the casual audience compared to, say, going into detail about five-faced alien quasi-robot slavemasters. I say they did a fair job there.
- barf314, on 03/06/2008, -0/+0I'm sure the general public would have enjoyed the movie a lot better if the pinnacle action scene was scripted to Dare to be Stupid.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABGOXvERUiA
- DarKnight90, on 03/06/2008, -3/+11The only people that disliked Transformers were hardcore fans that were upset that it wasn't like the cartoon.
- Asianwaste, on 03/06/2008, -2/+1Ich, the mid 90's spin off with Andy Dick was terrible
- Misanthrope, on 03/06/2008, -1/+2Right. Good thing that doesn't relate at all to the movie in question.
This comment is the definition of irrelevant.
- Misanthrope, on 03/06/2008, -1/+2Right. Good thing that doesn't relate at all to the movie in question.
- trunkster, on 03/06/2008, -4/+14Yeah, and was transformers really that bad? Sure it wasn't exactly like a cartoon but it seemed like they made the best decisions for a live-action movie.
- Syphon911, on 03/06/2008, -8/+104My god... a Sex and The City Movie?!?!? ----> DO NOT WANT!
- bluezinc, on 03/06/2008, -1/+34The TV show was torture enough.
- JGent, on 03/06/2008, -11/+2Lol I bought my GF the boxset of all episodes for christmas. We have watched it every night in bed since christmas now........ I have told her when its finished we are watching my red dwarf series then the IT crowd... She wants to start on ugly betty... save me !!!
- NonLeftistDiggr, on 03/06/2008, -1/+15Trade off not acceptable, one episode to get laid....maybe.
Negative man points have been permanently noted on your record. - bat-21, on 03/06/2008, -0/+6Unless she has superpowers, she's not worth it.
- NonLeftistDiggr, on 03/06/2008, -1/+15Trade off not acceptable, one episode to get laid....maybe.
- hokie47, on 03/06/2008, -10/+1As a guy I like Sex and the City. My wife and I watch it together, but we also like Battlestar Galactica, and some Star Trek too.
- mywhitenoise, on 03/06/2008, -3/+10"As a guy I like Sex and the City"
Does Not Compute.
I caught my girlfriend watching that ***** while I was asleep a few weeks ago. I told her if she ever watches that ***** again, I'm breaking up with her...and I ***** mean it. If women are really like those bitches in Sex And The City, then i'm turning gay. - sw33tsarin, on 03/06/2008, -1/+3Then they've already won.
- digitdean, on 03/06/2008, -0/+5I used to like Sex and the City, back when it was entertaining and snappy. Now that I see that women actually use it as a basis for how relationships are supposed to be, it scares the hell out of me.
- mywhitenoise, on 03/06/2008, -3/+10"As a guy I like Sex and the City"
- JGent, on 03/06/2008, -11/+2Lol I bought my GF the boxset of all episodes for christmas. We have watched it every night in bed since christmas now........ I have told her when its finished we are watching my red dwarf series then the IT crowd... She wants to start on ugly betty... save me !!!
- vermax, on 03/06/2008, -0/+9yeah, once that creepy redhead makes it to the big screen, her teethlings will be ONE FOOT TALL!!
Kim Catrall looks like Mr. Bean.- YogiWanKenobi, on 03/06/2008, -1/+1Kim Catrall looks like a sexed-up Kathy Lee Gifford
- mahdaeng, on 03/06/2008, -0/+1There was a time when she looked pretty good.
http://www.poster.net/cattrall-kim/cattrall-kim-ph ...
But, alas, you are correct. She seems to resemble Mr. Bean more and more with each passing year.
- saxreturns, on 03/06/2008, -0/+32I believe Brian from Family Guy sums up Sex and the City best:
"So... it's about three hookers and their mom?"- typicalusername, on 03/06/2008, -2/+6One of the best Family Guy one liners...
- 4degrees, on 03/06/2008, -1/+13 whores and their mother acting like gay men, sounds like a hit movie to me...
- bluezinc, on 03/06/2008, -1/+34The TV show was torture enough.
- Gemfinder, on 03/06/2008, -4/+40Wait a minute...Where The Wild Things Are looks GREAT. And it's being produced by Maurice Sendak and Tom Hanks.
- mattknow, on 03/06/2008, -0/+2I loved that book. It was the first book I read in Spanish and in English.
- astrotrain, on 03/06/2008, -1/+1I am still waiting for Maurice Sendak and Carole King to sign the release forms to allow his characters and her music for "Really Rosie" to come out on DVD... no sign, no movie ticket sales for me.
- Jondi10, on 03/06/2008, -0/+3I agree. It was my favorite book as a kid and is the only children's movie I wouldn't be ashamed to go see by myself.
- bigfatpaulie, on 03/06/2008, -0/+7& wtf is this guy's problem with The Three Amigos?
- stvspl, on 03/06/2008, -0/+2Also, Dave Eggers + Spike Jonze? C'mon, you can't go wrong!
- yomamaisfat, on 03/06/2008, -1/+45If they make a movie out of Monopoly, they will then make a movie out of Scrabble.
- doctechnical, on 03/06/2008, -1/+6The already did, it was called "Naked Lunch".
- Scrappy1850, on 03/06/2008, -2/+1only way people will see it is if they add some nudity. i will see an NC-17 rated Scrabble.
- bryik, on 03/06/2008, -1/+1I can think of two things wrong with that title.
- 1randomguy08, on 03/06/2008, -2/+3Boggle or Mouse Trap would be great lmao jkz
- frankenfag, on 03/06/2008, -1/+3Go Fish.
- bosssmiley, on 03/06/2008, -1/+2They already made one of "Chess"...
- astrotrain, on 03/06/2008, -1/+2One night in Bangkok and the world's your oyster....
- AndreiOttawa, on 03/06/2008, -2/+2How about a movie of Checkers? That could be a fine sci-fi action...
- Tgg161, on 03/06/2008, -0/+2"Word Wars" -- It's a movie about Scrabble, and I highly recommend it.
- astrotrain, on 03/06/2008, -1/+5And next up Microsoft Solitare.... 90 minutes of staring at a screen while someone plays... theme music provide by Laura Branigan.
- falkonv7l, on 03/06/2008, -1/+2What was that downhill ski game where the polar bear allways ate you at the end,
- selrahc, on 03/06/2008, -0/+3Skifree?
http://ski.ihoc.net/
- selrahc, on 03/06/2008, -0/+3Skifree?
- 4degrees, on 03/06/2008, -1/+1mille borns movie! ftw.
- AmICoolNow, on 03/06/2008, -1/+2"One man. Twenty-six letters. One destiny."
- doctechnical, on 03/06/2008, -1/+6The already did, it was called "Naked Lunch".
- killerstache, on 03/06/2008, -3/+23gotta disagree with Where The Wild Things Are. I have faith in Spike Jonze.
- bluezinc, on 03/06/2008, -2/+4Spike Jonze is one of the most brilliant music video directors that ever lived, but as far as his movies... I'm not convinced yet.
- ireland88, on 03/06/2008, -1/+1Hey now Darjeeling might not touch his previous films but I still enjoyed it, the cast was amazing.
- zeromancer, on 03/06/2008, -0/+1you know. i really loved WTWTA as a kid. and i swear to god, if they ***** it up, i will never spend money on a movie again. wait. i can't really remember the last time i did anyway...
- Picaroon, on 03/06/2008, -0/+1They should use the Metallica song
- chingy1788, on 03/06/2008, -0/+33so when will we see SimCity The Movie The Game The Movie?
- carpeclunes, on 03/06/2008, -1/+5SimCity The Movie The Game The Movie The Cereal.
- chingy1788, on 03/06/2008, -1/+1The Book The Game the Movie the Cereal

-Yogart (Spaceballs)
- chingy1788, on 03/06/2008, -1/+1The Book The Game the Movie the Cereal
- novemberdream07, on 03/06/2008, -1/+1how about you add: on ice, the ride, live! then you really have a money maker!
- Wormfather, on 03/06/2008, -1/+1Screw that, I think the world is ready for Guitar Hero...the movie.
- mahdaeng, on 03/06/2008, -0/+1You mean the one where a bunch of nerds waste time pressing buttons on a plastic toy?
- ChromaVita, on 03/06/2008, -0/+1SimCity: The Movie: The Game: The Movie 2: Electric Boogaloo.
- carpeclunes, on 03/06/2008, -1/+5SimCity The Movie The Game The Movie The Cereal.
- SpookyApplePie, on 03/06/2008, -7/+1........hmm
- benpattersonca, on 03/06/2008, -8/+1The only way I'm watching 'Monopoly - The Movie' is if they mix it with 'God Of War' or something equally confusing/schitzo/entertaining.
- jdeuel, on 03/06/2008, -12/+2this has got to be the worst list cracked has produced so far.
Monopoly? Clue was hilarious
Sex and the City? They might not like it, but millions do
Horton Hears a Who? The Grinch wasn't that bad at all
Where the Wild Things Are? Spike ***** Jonze
Only one I would remotely agree with is the sims, as even dragonball fans have demanded a live action movie for quite some time, I can't agree with them but nonetheless they have earned it- pentak, on 03/06/2008, -2/+12sorry - the grinch sucked ass
- BlackTye, on 03/06/2008, -0/+10Clue had some sort of plot with characters. The board game was almost like playing out a story. Monopoly hasn't a shred of storytelling elements.
Sex and the City: Hollywood milking a cash cow. What else is new?
Perhaps the others might be valid, but calling this the "worst list EVAR" is definitely over-doing it.- jdeuel, on 03/06/2008, -3/+0i'm pretty sure every new list cracked puts out is the next worst list evar.
i think its time for people to start making their own lists, instead of listening to vh1 tell them what to remember about the 90s
- jdeuel, on 03/06/2008, -3/+0i'm pretty sure every new list cracked puts out is the next worst list evar.
- joessandwich, on 03/06/2008, -0/+1Clue was great, but I doubt they'll have the same writer/director. Plus, there is already established characters and a premise with Clue. I doubt Monopoly will follow in its footsteps. Plus it was a low-budget movie and was forced to rely on good actors, great writing, and good direction. If they did Clue today, they would just pour money into it hoping to engineer another movie that will appeal to everyone, and it would just turn out awful.
- typicalusername, on 03/06/2008, -0/+2I disagree, this is actually a good cracked list and I agree with most of it. Every movie on this list is probably going to suck. While I do have faith in Where The Wild Things Are. His take on Sex in the City is dead on. The first GF that tries to make me watch that show, we're done. I'm not even a fan of getting divorced, but I'm all for it if your wife tries to make you watch that *****.
- NonLeftistDiggr, on 03/06/2008, -4/+90DUGG!!!!! for #1. I just know there will be one weekend I just feel like watching a movie and it's going to be my girlfriend's turn to pick and it will be Sex in the City and.........I'm just screwed.
HBO + the word Sex in the title = virtually no nudity = advertising war crime
If I get more than 3 diggs, it's proof there are no female diggers.- fefu, on 03/06/2008, -4/+24I'm female and Sex in the City makes me gag. We're not all alike, you know.
- typicalusername, on 03/06/2008, -1/+1Solution for you, go to a bunch of movies before it's release date, and go on a movie hiatus till it's out of theaters...
- Scrappy1850, on 03/06/2008, -0/+2that should be about 4 days

- gradivus, on 03/06/2008, -14/+7This list was alright until they got to Speed Racer. This movie looks badass. The cartoon can only be improved upon, and its done by the damn Wachowskis, what more do you want. And another thing,How the ***** would you have ended Matrix3? Probably pretty crappy with some lame ass happy ending, humans-beat-the-machines *****. Shakespeare couldnt have done better with that ending. That movie kicked more ass than Kimbo Slice on PCP.
- sindex, on 03/06/2008, -1/+9I would have improved on the Matrix by:
1) Ending it at the first one.
Were I given a bajillion dollars to make two more:
2) I'd have had them be self-contained stories and not a bunch of special feature/video game spin offs.
3) The ridiculous and hilariously bad "hundred Smiths" fight would have been cut far shorter before Neo remembered he could fly.
4) The machines would have attacked the humans and not just flown around in formation for 30 minutes.
5) Given the movies some actual substance, rather than a bunch of half-assed and poorly researched quasi-religious drivel that makes it seem really important, but in the end is just forgettable.
6) Ending it at the first one.

- Barnolde, on 03/06/2008, -0/+7The trailer for Where the Wild Things Are was awesome, it should only be scrapped if the execs have their way and change it to be more commercial.

F.Y.I My nephew (who is also named Max), tried out for the part of Max. They loved him, but thought that he would be too old by the time they started production. I've know for over a year and a half now that they were making this thing.- stvspl, on 03/06/2008, -0/+1That's actually really awesome about your nephew...
But to be fair, the teaser for "Where the Wild Things Are" was attached to the Grinch movie, which came out in 2000. So some people have known about this for almost eight years.

- typicalusername, on 03/06/2008, -0/+2I was a huge fan of DragonBall, but there's no damn way this should be made into a live action flick. I don't know what everyone gets their panties in a wad about live action. I find it usually dull and stupid. You can do far more with animation.
- BEloftyIRONS, on 03/06/2008, -0/+4I loved the Dragonball series. GT not so much. But how could this be made into a live action movie? It had great epic battles flying through the air and shooting the equivalent of nuclear bombs out of their hands. This could not be translated to live action without looking retarded. Not to mention a lot of the what the ***** moments of Dragonball.
- ireland88, on 03/06/2008, -0/+3When i watched dragon ball as a kid i remember wishing they would make a live action movie, but now it just sound funny, i might go see it just becuase i know it will be ridiculous.
- jimjoke, on 03/06/2008, -0/+9If they're gonna make a Dragonball movie, they better make sure it has a) Bulma's ass b) blood shooting from Roshi's nose, and c) Goku parading around in the buff.

- moush, on 03/06/2008, -0/+2Horribly bad, but ***** hilarious.
- Daiken, on 03/06/2008, -0/+2I use to be a huge Dragon Ball Z fan. There IS a possibility that this could be done properly. But to do that you'd probably need hundreds of millions of dollars worth of special effects and hair gel to make it look right. I'm also pretty sure that this movie will not have the budget necessary to pull off what DBZ fans really like. Stuff blowing up, beams everywhere, and earth shattering power (literally).
- tyywebb, on 03/06/2008, -0/+3What's the scouter say about his power level?
- supersonicjim, on 03/09/2008, -0/+1over 9,000!!!!
- PunkRampant, on 03/06/2008, -0/+2I agree with Daiken, it could be done right, but only if they poured a ***** ton of money into it for decent special effects -- I hate to be cynical when it comes to one of my favorite shows (yeah that's right), but it will probably have bad actors, crappy CGI, and won't be faithful to the show.

- joessandwich, on 03/06/2008, -0/+10Quote: "Going back to the roots of that humor (Mel Brooks, Jim Abrams, and the Zuckers) now will look less like an homage and more like some second-rate schlock satire (e.g. Meet the Spartans)."
The problem with that argument is that Meet the Spartans and any of the recent satirical movies don't come remotely close to the humor of Brooks, Abrams, and the Zuckers. Those filmmakers relied on intelligent humor in addition to gags, while the current satires have no intelligence to them at all. If Get Smart is able to be on par with Mel Brooks, then it certainly will be more of an homage than a second-rate satire. To compare Meet the Spartans and Not Another Date Movie and the others to Mel Brooks is just insulting, they are in entirely different leagues. Let's just hope Get Smart actually pulls it off and doesn't cater to the lowest denominator. - br0wnstar, on 03/06/2008, -1/+5Missed the most important: The Watchmen.
Probably the most influential comic book ever, it was also a commentary on the art form... Making that into a movie makes sense how?- louiedog, on 03/06/2008, -2/+9That's why people adapt stories for the screen. The Watchmen, as it is in book form, is unfilmable in my opinion. That doesn't mean the story and characters can't be brought to the screen in a successful way. If you want to see someone film the book that you read, prepare to be disappointed.
Look at The Office. The US and UK version share the same premise and characters, but are very different shows. Both are good and very popular, but took their own paths. - Asianwaste, on 03/06/2008, -1/+8Watchmen if it must be put on film, should be an HBO mini series.
- gudnbluts, on 03/06/2008, -0/+1I totally disagree. Mini Series ALWAYS look cheap and bland even when they throw money at it (Dune comes to mind). I'd go for a series of films though - worked for Lord of the Rings. One story can span across a lot of hours at the cinema and still be compelling.
- Asianwaste, on 03/07/2008, -0/+1Rome and Deadwood were pretty well made. I'd go as far to say that Rome looked more authentic than any Ancient Rome flick of recent date.

- bosssmiley, on 03/06/2008, -0/+6Why are people burying br0wnstar? He's right - a movie of "Watchmen" done by contemporary Hollywood will crap on everything you loved about the original.
- Disfnord, on 03/06/2008, -1/+2Exactly what I was thinking. There is no possible way to build up to the ending in two hours or less, so my guess is they'll change it. They butchered V for Vendetta, and I hear League of Extraordinary Gentlemen was even worse. I feel sorry for Alan Moore.

- RRJackson, on 03/06/2008, -0/+1Sorry:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0970416/
Shooting in British Columbia right now for a December 2008 release. Keaunu as Klaatu, Jennifer Connely as Helen and Kathy Bates as the old lady who runs the boarding house. The most bizarre casting is John Cleese as Professor Barnhardt. I was a huge Python fan, but this seems like horrible casting. I keep thinking of Cleese as Q in those Bond films and the idea of him hamming it up in this makes me queasy.
