- shadowq8, on 07/05/2009, -6/+26Well since we are gonna die out, might as well have a taste of those endangered animals.
- alexforcefive, on 07/05/2009, -0/+15The other thing about the tigers is that chairman Mao ***** declared war on them: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_China_Tiger#Per ...
- axcess99, on 07/06/2009, -0/+14From you context, I am gathering that you think that believing in evolution means a person should desire to drive species extinct?
The phrase "pro evolution" doesn't even make sense on it's own. There are certainly people that are pro teaching evolution or believe that it is a correct hypothesis. But the theory of evolution does not contain any goals for a person to evangelize or pursue, it is simply an hypothetical statement based upon observations of the world around us; that is like saying a person can be "pro-theory of gravity". - diggduggjoe, on 07/06/2009, -0/+14I am kind of surprised that the bison was not on this list. Many died pretty much as target practice.
Of course, the activity was encouraged as a way to destroy the Indians for the bison was a primary food source as well as a source of dozens of goods to sustain their way of life. - silverchrysalis, on 07/06/2009, -0/+13what do you think makes soy sauce dark and tasty?
- inactive, on 07/06/2009, -1/+14I'll probably get dug down for this, but you're comment does raise a point that's been bothering me every time I read an environmental article. Why does everyone always speak as if we're separate from nature? Way I see it, we're just as much a living, breathing animal as a gorilla or tiger. Sure we're much more intelligent than other animals and can effect our environment much more than they do, but is that a reason to separate ourselves from nature?
Is it because we build artificial structures? How is the house you're sitting in right now any different in nature than a beaver dam, a birds nest, a bee hive?
Is it because we can affect the planet more than anything else? Volcanoes can cause some extreme changes to the planet, do we separate them from nature?
Now I'm not saying we should just stop caring about the environment or our negative impact on it, but should we all still keep considering ourselves as separate from nature? - TheHungerArtist, on 07/05/2009, -1/+13see the problem there is preperation. People who are preventing starvation aren't going to take the time to properly prepare the meal.

"wooosh" (right over your head) - inactive, on 07/05/2009, -0/+11Those frogs look cool. I don't see how they're scary at all.
- WhoreHay, on 07/06/2009, -0/+10Yes, the coqui frogs are indigenous to Puerto Rico (the guajon is a coqui frog). They're not scary at all. Here in Puerto Rico we pretty much love the little bastards, and love the sound they make as well (which is why we find it strange when we hear how much they're detested in Hawaii). It's true that they were considered scary in the early 1900's, not because they were scary-looking, but for superstitious believes (not at all sure why this was). However, if I'm not mistaken, the actual reason for being endangered is for habitat destruction.
Now having said that... even if I had not heard much of it, I don't doubt the fern thing at all.. (although habitat destruction has had a major role in its endangerment as well) - Balanced, on 07/06/2009, -0/+9I don't think anyone here wants to hear about your 'hose attachment' and 'oozing bodily fluid.'
- Akairenn, on 07/06/2009, -0/+9...rofl.
Okay, dude. Really scraping the bottom of the barrel, aren't you?
Sorry, one can comprehend the scientific truth of evolution, while still thinking it's a bad idea to eliminate species we have the power to save. - Cannonballkid, on 07/05/2009, -2/+10 The frog they are talking about is known as the "Coqui" in Puerto Rico at least its one of the sub species. Anyway it is an extremely popular animal in the island. There are even songs about it. It's not near extinction and no one is afraid of it either. I know that somehow it wound up in Hawaii and they hate it there, but Puerto Ricans love the Coqui.
- beaversprite, on 07/06/2009, -0/+8See my vest, see my vest...
- JMilton, on 07/06/2009, -2/+10No, they're not, actually. If we were driven by self-enrichment alone, we'd never survive the stone age. It's the financial system and enforcement of profit and scarcity that turns us into dicks.
- Akedz, on 07/06/2009, -0/+7Not much difference really, corrupt politicians, bad and good neighberhoods, rich and poor people, ***** up middle class. All I think it's that the main language is Spanish, though, then again it already feels like that in some places in the states. Also there is alot of fighting among politicians due to the "political status" of the isalnd.
- Hraes, on 07/06/2009, -1/+8...why 55? Why not 50? Do you know something you're not telling us?
- jeremyosborne81, on 07/06/2009, -0/+7Made from real gorilla chests.
- Ceaser57, on 07/05/2009, -6/+13Are they sure that frog is originally from Puerto Rico and not, I don't know, Southern Sri Lanka?

- beaversprite, on 07/06/2009, -1/+7Have we reached a point where we've forgotten than sometimes a troll is just a troll, with no political agenda to promote? And maybe you should give people the benefit of the doubt. Sometimes people are just idiots, ok?
- makkaveli19, on 07/06/2009, -0/+5Thank you. sometimes i find it frustrating when people compare natural states of men to "pure capitalism" the idea of a small comunism is derived from small communities(packs lets say) and families.
- Hraes, on 07/06/2009, -0/+5Good lord, 30 people! Really? That's awful!

- dent42, on 07/06/2009, -0/+4Tell me about it, I have lived in Puerto Rico my entire life, and this is the first I have heard of the coqui Guajon, let alone people being scared of any coquis.
- BC200, on 07/06/2009, -2/+6Well, if they didn't want humans killing them, maybe they should've evolved first!
- johnsmith555, on 07/06/2009, -0/+4You must be new to the internet

- DulcetTone, on 07/06/2009, -0/+4In fairness, he had seen some overwrought propaganda from a prior war and thought tigers could FLY.
- SuomynonaEno, on 07/06/2009, -1/+5funny coz i think that estimating 200 years are really stretching it to put it mildly.heck i'm worrying if we'd even be able to hit past 55.
- Presbyterian, on 07/05/2009, -1/+4You can't pretend humans aren't naturally driven by self-enrichment..
- Pake, on 07/06/2009, -0/+3And clone the ones we can to enjoy those already deemed extinct, such as the dodo bird.
- adodds, on 07/06/2009, -0/+3I second that. Who hasn't heard of cracked???
- Disgod, on 07/06/2009, -1/+4Well, you can't blame them. They didn't understand that you're not supposed to plug the pterodactyl lamp into the wall socket.
