- moneyswears, on 10/17/2008, -8/+128What about the fact that class is unnecessary since most professors post their notes on-line and/or teach straight from the textbook?
***** I miss not going to university! - darthsand, on 10/17/2008, -3/+81i skipped college orientation, and it was well worth it!

HAHAHA.
This is why I'm probably going to fail math this quarter. - inactive, on 10/18/2008, -5/+66List of Universities by STD infection rank. (Best to Worst) -------

- ifire, on 10/18/2008, -1/+44I learned that whist being a lifeguard.
- AmyVernon, on 10/17/2008, -1/+41I still remember the soft chocolate chip cookies they served in our dining hall. Those and the olives and the ice cream on Fridays were responsible for my Freshman 15.
- kingofinternet, on 10/18/2008, -0/+38good link, but it's not std infection rank, but access to sexual health resources.

Texas Christian University scored worse than SDSU? wow. - lulzitsadigg, on 10/18/2008, -1/+22They were on the Sarah Palin Abstinence program
- crazzy88ss, on 10/18/2008, -1/+20BYU is #132? That's sayin something about those mormon kids.
- Enasni1212, on 10/18/2008, -0/+18What classes were you taking? There are some classes I can skip, but I'd sink real quick if I didn't attend the tougher lectures.

- Rocketman574, on 10/18/2008, -0/+14You sound bitter. I wouldn't have gotten my job without a degree
My intern experience actually got me the job, but my resume wouldn't have even made it into their hands if it didn't have "B.S. in Software Engineering" in it. - Daxx22, on 10/18/2008, -0/+14Clearly the author never played WoW. :P
- KaJuN4, on 10/19/2008, -0/+136. The campus bus service is great...if you like sitting in the cold for 15 minutes watching bus after bus goes by as you wait for yours.
7. Winter temperatures on a college campus can be as much as twice as cold as anywhere else on the planet.
8. Bring a bike, you'll need it because your dorm or parking lot is further from your class than Mars is from the Sun.
9. The most pointless general classes will have the most work of any course you will take.
10. (Actually useful) Don't buy books for a class until you're absolutely sure you need them. Avoid the campus bookstore like the Plague. - Markers, on 10/18/2008, -0/+13The server went down faster than a female freshman at her first frat party.
- andnever, on 10/18/2008, -0/+11how to pay for a decent host?
- Mothrog, on 10/18/2008, -0/+11Maybe you should have tried a real major.
- burjzyntski, on 10/18/2008, -1/+11I don't believe certain parts of this post ^
- Mothrog, on 10/18/2008, -0/+10"A B.S. in Mathematics would be equally as valuable in a software development position..."
OK... And you know someone with a math degree would know how to code or handle a large project, how?
"Someone with a Literature degree would be quite useful as a technical writer..."
Not without a technical background, it wouldn't. Technical writing is exact and you have to know what the ***** you're talking about. A literature degree doesn't get you that. - duggdowncatisad, on 10/18/2008, -0/+10Trig's mom is hot though.
- SDL486, on 10/18/2008, -0/+9Dugg for college contributing to my weight gain
- cynicalcheeto, on 10/18/2008, -2/+11Mirror?
I hate Bluehost so much... - haikuFU, on 10/18/2008, -0/+8Also, there are bookstore type places on campus that hire students to take detailed notes in classes where material is not posted online or handed out, and you can buy the notes for a few bucks for the semester. I've found the quality of the notes to be outstanding in most cases, much better than I would take.
I only went to class to take tests and hand in papers, unless we had a prick professor that took attendance and based part of your grade on it. In most cases, going to class was worthless because you couldn't understand the prof anyway because of some exotic accent. And the ones you could understand clearly did not want to be there teaching, they'd rather be working on their research. - evilgourmet, on 10/18/2008, -0/+8a FUN gamble.
- dilpil1, on 10/18/2008, -0/+7A four year degree in literature, history, or philosophy signifies nothing.
A math, computer science, engineering, or other technical degree on the other hand, does.
Unsurprisingly, the miscellaneous non technical humanities degrees are indeed fairly meaningless, unless of course you got an outstanding GPA or graduated ivy league.
Lastly, the technical degrees do indeed open many doors. Plenty of companies will interview recent technical grads for positions paying 40, 50, and even 60k a year. Or, if you graduated from a top school, far more. - absameen, on 10/18/2008, -0/+7WoW part is totally true. So funny, so sad, and so very true...
- lulzitsadigg, on 10/18/2008, -1/+8I got past Calculus in high school and still didn't understand trig. ***** unit circle.
- 9bpm9, on 10/18/2008, -0/+7Actually it's more like the other way around. You don't need a ***** degree, but that's all employers look for.
- feezus, on 10/18/2008, -0/+7Awesome! I'll start watching it as soon as I'm finished installing these compelte safe and non-suspicious Active-X controllers!

Just no pictures. =| - Vikaas, on 10/18/2008, -1/+7Makes sense that the intelligent schools are ranked higher. The bottom schools are a group that probably close their eyes and pretend like it doesn't happen. I'm pretty happy with our #39 spot. Especially considering ASU is 119.
- strangewill, on 10/19/2008, -2/+8I'm sorry, but these are ADULTS, they can buy their own condoms.
- VinnieDaMac, on 10/19/2008, -0/+6I wish someone would have told me about http://www.ratemyprofessor.com and http://www.pickaprof.com before I started college.
- briguymaine, on 10/18/2008, -1/+7Wow, bitter much? But look at the username "cubicaldrone", I almost feel sorry for the drone.
A degree is great to have but I think it's better to show that you can achieve something (the degree) and then the connections and experiences you get through internships and networking. Like you Rocketman, my internship turned into my first full time gig, and fifteen years later I am further up the ladder at the same job and loving what I do. I am lucky but more importantly I worked hard.
Great list, I lol'ed. - Disease, on 10/18/2008, -0/+6Good for him.
- JoshuaGross, on 10/18/2008, -0/+6The best part of this article is the conversation between Obbop and Kelli in the comments.
- inactive, on 10/18/2008, -1/+6need more cpus
- Dabaum, on 10/18/2008, -0/+5Here, here! I wouldn't have expected any better from ASU though.
