- IAmTheGuy, on 11/11/2008, -10/+132Shut it down at its source. Destroy 4chan.
- stinkybrinker, on 11/11/2008, -3/+123Surprisingly thought provoking article on Cracked? Is the sky still blue?
- ultraJesus, on 11/11/2008, -2/+112The people on youtube aren't trolls. They are just idiots.
- Falldog, on 11/11/2008, -8/+64It should just be "1. Ignore them"
Don't blame trolls, blame people who are stupid enough to get trolled. - dmd53, on 11/11/2008, -4/+59I checked Cracked this morning for my usual dose of fart humor, but instead found a very insightful article on the future of the internet. Bravo, Cracked, for laying some learning on your audience without them even expecting it.
Knowledge: my Anti-Troll. - Edjarosu, on 11/11/2008, -1/+50David Wong is really dependable for writing thought-provoking articles.
Also, dick jokes. - lokee73, on 11/11/2008, -4/+47I love the sound kittens make when you drown them...
Hitler had great taste in clothes.
Fat people shouldn't be allowed out of the house during the day or weekend nights when other people can see them.
I LOVE dolphins...They taste like tuna.
I think pedophiles should be forced to work in K-4 classrooms as a way to rehabilitate them. Just overload them with children and they won't want to molest anymore.
We should take away everyone's guns. Then there wouldn't be any more crime.
Ho-mo-sect-uals are an abomination and should be put in re-education camps until they learn to love vagina...and Jesus.
We should filter all the porn off the internet so that children will be protected.
I think the RIAA is doing a great job and has the right idea about dealing with piracy. They are only looking after the musician’s rights after all. - LordoftheLoo, on 11/11/2008, -1/+39The New York Times article it links to is really interesting
- jasonXhendrix, on 11/11/2008, -6/+44The most well-meaning attacker of free speech is worse than the biggest troll. Period. End of ***** "discussion".
- edwartica, on 11/11/2008, -0/+35yeah, like digg.com
- ligyron, on 11/11/2008, -0/+316. Don't feed them
- hansk, on 11/11/2008, -5/+35As a troll, I find this article offensive. We trolls arn't all *****, we have feelings too! When we are cut, we bleed, (we heal 3x faster though). When we are sad, we cry. When we make a post off topic or highly offensive and it gets everyone riled up, we feel joy.
We are not killing the internet, we're making it a better place! A place the ignorant, the cruel, the bigot AND the evil can safely meet without fear of getting beat up!
Shame on all you troll hunters. - Harabeck, on 11/11/2008, -0/+28If you did that, it would only come back by another name. (Or the same one with a slightly different url)
- BXRWXR, on 11/11/2008, -6/+34You just can't let trolls get to you. Except them for what they are.
It's the internet for Christ's sake. Lighten up. - yohnstoppable, on 11/11/2008, -0/+27The average youtube poster is some kind of super idiot, built in a lab out of parts from lesser idiots.
- enki25, on 11/11/2008, -1/+27It would be a shame to get rid of anonymous posting entirely, maybe there's a way to keep individuals locked into certain IDs without associating those IDs with their real life identities. In other words, keep people interested in maintaining their online personas, but still allow people to be a little unhinged. If it's just a bunch of real people talking, that's kinda boring. I could do that in real life, I think...
- inactive, on 11/11/2008, -1/+26 Sounds like the cures are worse than the disease.
And the reason only .002 percent of people comment on a cracked article is not because they don't want to be called names. It's that 99.998% of people could give a ***** about registering and commenting on some comedy timewaster article.
Most people are lame, the last thing we need is to encourage participation from the formerly disinclined. - LeviTheSmith, on 11/11/2008, -10/+34◑ ◔

╚═╝ - mmittimm, on 11/11/2008, -3/+254chan will fail as soon as everyone knows about it. You can't troll when everyone knows you're just doing it for attention, they'll just ignore it.
- bluetytanium, on 11/11/2008, -0/+22Invading 4chan is like pissing in an ocean of piss.
- Paulish, on 11/11/2008, -0/+20No, don't. If we destroy 4chan the bile contained within will diffuse throughout the internet. 4chan is the leper colony of the internet.
- Fhwqhgads, on 11/11/2008, -11/+31No anonymous posting is the single dumbest thing they could ever do. Don't dare speak out against the status quo unless you want the feds at your door.
- Sluglas, on 11/11/2008, -4/+23Trolls are dicks but those ideas would ruin the internets for everyone.
- jasonXhendrix, on 11/11/2008, -5/+22We are a generation of ***** fascists. That's why this ***** seems okay.
- Rikkochet, on 11/11/2008, -0/+17We shouldn't rock that boat - leave the Youtube trolls on Youtube or they might metastasize and infect the whole internet.
- versualize, on 11/11/2008, -2/+18Hey great idea! And then we can get rid of blacks and gays and people over six feet tall and people who don't like green and anyone other than those who have the exact same opinions as you! Awesome!
- ogenbite, on 11/11/2008, -1/+16Yeah, it's one thing for people to just call each other names and talk smack to each other. But then you get into territory like this (linked in the Cracked article): http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/03/magazine/03troll ... . And then I think you've wandered out of the realm of the usual "13-year old with anger issues" on the net. The problem is that things that would be flat out harassment -- in the legally-binding way -- have no regulations on the internet. Someone with the right know-how could pretty much ruin a person's life just for the hell of it; and some people do.
On the other hand though, there's really no justice quite like internet justice. Case in point: http://news.filefront.com/internet-community-strik ... - CCunitz, on 11/11/2008, -1/+16"Well, nobody here, guess I can flip out my dong", doesn't quite apply....but does anyone mind if I do say anyways?
- Mandeponium, on 11/11/2008, -0/+14Two pages for five reasons seems reasonable.
At least it's not one page per reason. - Clbull, on 11/11/2008, -2/+16O o

- JacksonYaya, on 11/11/2008, -1/+14They aren't just idiots. They're incredible idiots.
- yohnstoppable, on 11/11/2008, -0/+13accept*
- KibblesnBitts, on 11/11/2008, -1/+13The New York Times article sent chills down my spine. They toy with people's feelings and lives. How can one have the audacity to call the parents of a child who killed himself and claim that he is that same child, or the child's ghost, or the child's ipod. Just because there is anonymity on the Internet doesn't mean you cannot affect someones life.
Think twice before you say something hurtful on message boards, please. - aerospacemonkey, on 11/11/2008, -2/+14But then those basement-dwelling loser kids might have to go outside, and *gasp* socialize with others!
Won't you think of the children? - Farik, on 11/11/2008, -1/+13Noone! Noone!
IT'S NOT A ***** WORD - yyymilitia, on 11/11/2008, -1/+13But you wouldn't be able to comment
- Iwantawii, on 11/11/2008, -0/+12Dugg for "fart zeppelin."
- Kido1986, on 11/11/2008, -0/+12I find it humorous that I can read a serious article, enjoy and agree with (parts of) it and then come to comments, read a well thought out comment, then snicker when the next thing I see is 'Dick jokes'.
Immaturity never goes away completely. - CDefense7, on 11/11/2008, -0/+11Read the article - they are a big reason that governments will outlaw anonymity on the Internet.
p.s. It's "accept" in this case. - edwartica, on 11/11/2008, -1/+12Its you having sex with your mom and her dog that's killing the internet!!!
- Laughto, on 11/11/2008, -0/+10They have a handy page for all articles they put out like that: http://www.cracked.com/members/David+Wong
- Laughto, on 11/11/2008, -3/+12I'd never seen it that way before, for some reason. Point well made. Free-stuff internet is doomed.
- Haoie, on 11/11/2008, -0/+9The internet: It's ______ business.
- Harabeck, on 11/11/2008, -4/+13The stupid filter is awesome. It should be included on digg at once!
http://stupidfilter.org/demo.php - inactive, on 11/11/2008, -0/+8Diggers don't recognize epic trolling...in a thread about trolling.
- PamalaLauren, on 11/11/2008, -0/+8I typed in some pretty stupid stuff and it didn't catch it.
- drunkenkite, on 11/11/2008, -0/+8Then they will all likely come here...
You really want that? - aerospacemonkey, on 11/11/2008, -0/+7How about stop feeding them? I'm guessing that wouldn't be as funny.
