- ronfez, on 10/11/2007, -2/+50Gotta love the new radio environment.
- dweeb79, on 10/11/2007, -4/+46Wasn't censorship the reason they went to XM in the first place (besides losing their jobs)?
I seems unacceptable that people pay to listen to these 2 speak their minds uncensored but yet are still censored. If Comedy Central stands behind South Park so should XM stand behind Opie and Anonthy. - Sagura, on 10/11/2007, -2/+42THIS STINKS.
Radio is dead to me. - dshPls, on 10/11/2007, -11/+47O&A suck ass,
but they have a right to, and I want the ability to decide for myself and not listen to them on my own terms. Screw people deciding if I'll be offended or not. - TCP2oo4, on 10/11/2007, -8/+42This is BULL! Join the PAC and lets help put a stop to this!!!

- trendygamer, on 10/11/2007, -2/+26Al Sharpton is a hypocritical gasbag. He's allowed to cause riots over anti-semitic slurs, to which he has never apologized. He's allowed to trumpet false rape charges against police officers, to which he's never apologized. He's allowed to malign a public figure's personal religion (Mitt Romney, who is a Mormon), and is allowed to skate, particularly AFTER demanding an apology from Don Imus and then saying it isn't good enough, he must still be fired. Now he's leading the charge against something a GUEST, not even the hosts, said on a radio show that is on a blockable, paid subscription satellite radio channel. While this has nothing to do with the First Amendment and freedom of speech, it has everything to do with the growing defacto censorship that is becoming evident in a world where foolish PC-ness is making a huge resurgence.
This is just aggravating, and someone needs to inform the good reverend to just shut the ***** up. - filovirus, on 10/11/2007, -5/+28Cancelling my two xm radios right now...This sucks

I hope you are not serious. Please, stick to your ***** safe comedy, and leave the real comedy (tragedy + time) to the adults, not grown children who do not understand context.

- gquaglia, on 10/11/2007, -6/+26XM is a bunch of spineless pussies.

"The Pests seem to forget - there are over 6 million people that actually pay to hear Howard."
You seem to forget that not all 6 million subscribers to Sirius actually listen to Howard (beat me to it arial). As for O&A, everyone knows this is happening due to the recent Imus debacle. You think Howard is safe when ole Al Sharpton starts calling for his firing when he says something stupid? Trust me, he isn't. - frieji3, on 10/11/2007, -2/+21WTF?!@# Cowards...
"Hello XM, I'd like to cancel my subscription immediatly." - bennyb1anco, on 10/11/2007, -22/+39Hey Stern fanboys,
mark my words, you boy is next. Either they'll fire him or they'll neuter him, one way or another he is in crap right now. The bullseye falls directly on him.
Even if you despise O&A, if you value your entertainment, you'd best speak up on this one. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+19I'm a fan of Howard and O&A.
Regardless of whose fans chime in, censorship is censorship, and it's ***** - especially over supposedly a "censor free" medium.
What does Howard have to say about this? Since he's against censorship and despite the fact that O&A are his rivals, I'm sure he's not too thrilled about this either. - zakattack2006, on 10/11/2007, -6/+22Cancelling my radios as we speak
Digg this up people enough of this BS. - Azariah, on 10/11/2007, -1/+16@kuj007
"While this won't cause me to cancel my account,"
This is all they care about. That's why I'm on the phone cancelling right now.
***** XM for suspending them, and ***** O&A for apologizing. That's where all the trouble starts, when you apologize. - uptown, on 10/11/2007, -0/+15The ONLY reason they got suspended is because XM and Sirius are trying to win approval from the government on their proposed merger. The fear was that these events would taint the judgement of those in power to prevent the merger enough to warrant the suspension. It's not about freedom of speech, or whether the apology was enough or even required .... it's about money.
Off to cancel my subscription. - danc4498, on 10/11/2007, -2/+16So why the ***** are people talking about Howard Stern right now??? I think comparing Howard Stern to O&A is 100% irrelevant at this point. Serious ***** is going on that I think is above some little Howard Stern vs. O&A hate-fest. Our rights to free speech are being raped! Satellite radio was supposed to be a safe-haven for free speech, and after this (and the reports that they're going to be fired before their suspension is up), what do we have left? So get over "who's better, Howard or O&A," soon, everything is going to suck!
http://www.peopleagainstcensorship.org/ - homerj1965, on 10/11/2007, -7/+21Raaaaaaaaammmmmooooooooooneeeeeeeeeee cancel my subscription.
- Egress99, on 10/11/2007, -7/+21I know!!!
the worst part is is that it's not going to stop...if my other boys RnF get axed, a well placed firebomb is in order. - bigpappasmurf, on 10/11/2007, -2/+16@trendygamer:
Sharpton needs to be fired, not O&A. - mobbo, on 10/11/2007, -1/+15Cancelled my subscription. Spineless pricks (XM).
- Barnolde, on 10/11/2007, -4/+18I've never once listened to Opie and Anthony, but this is just plain *****. Political correctness = death of freedom.
STOP WITH THE ***** CENSORSHIP. - arial, on 10/11/2007, -14/+28@yeediddy
"The Pests seem to forget - there are over 6 million people that actually pay to hear Howard. O & A wish they had even a small fraction of that. If they did, XM wouldn't treat them like the B-List radio stars that it looks like they are."
I don't want to turn this into Stern vs O&A. You're implying EVERY single Sirius subscriber signed up just for Howard Stern. Sorry but that is far from the truth. - tendonut, on 10/11/2007, -6/+19You seem to forget that O&A also broadcast their XM show on terrestrial radio. Their listener base is exponentially larger than what Howie is pulling in even. This is probably going to hurt XM a LOT more than it would Sirius.
It is pretty god damn ridiculous that XM would even THINK about suspending ANYTHING on supposedly uncensored radio in the first place.
@diggumjonez
Instead, Stern doesn't push the envelope anyways. He just rapes the Sirius bank accounts with his bland show. - dprevite, on 10/11/2007, -2/+15Canceled my subscription. EVERYONE MUST CANCEL!
***** XM. Let's send E-Lo a box of ***** - ragunax, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14Just cancelled my service. Screw them.
- danc4498, on 10/11/2007, -2/+15XM Stinks, and I don't like them
In all seriousness, I bet the only reason they were suspended was so their merger w/Sirius wouldn't be halted because those approving it were offended. Not much of an excuse either way... - footbag01, on 10/11/2007, -3/+15I've been planning on cancelling anyways. Air America lost its lineup and that Lionel guy...ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzz. The Jamband station is gone. And now they are censoring their performers. Didn't sat radio become popular because they don't censor?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+16Complete ***** *****.
Federal govt has no ***** jurisdiction over satellite radio, so it's a non-issue.
XM will lose credibility for this one. - btsr7414, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12God forbid that anybody offend the royal ***** family. What the ***** has this country come to? I am cancelling my XM subscription.
- trendygamer, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12I'd agree with you...but..uh...I'm not exactly sure he HAS an actual "job," the way you and I would think of one. I mean...what exactly does the man DO?
- rhfb, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11They didn't even do anything that bad? Or is the clip that supposdly got them suspended not the correct clip?
- nyijedi, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11Just canceled all 3 of my subs. I turned down 6 free months of their now censored-service. I hope the merger falls through and XM goes bankrupt.
- mykos, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12If you think that's bad, Don Imus lost his job permanently just for using the words "nappy-headed hos".
Edit: I see a few others have already brought that up. - strafefire, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11Ahhh...Another win for the censorship crowd...
I may hate Imus, Limbaugh, O'reilly, and the rest of the neocon bunch, but at least when they are on the air, I know that our right to free speech is still being protected!
But when you start taking people down for doing "insensitive" skits, you begin to slowly make room for censorship of media in general...
So yeah, I hate a lot of shock jocks out there, but unfortunately, WE NEED THEM! - NickSentowski, on 10/11/2007, -3/+13@yediddy
"Sirius has 6.6M subscribers as of 5/1/07. Prior to the announcement of Howard Stern coming to Sirius, they had less than .5M subscribers. It's fairly simple math."
Yes, and a lack of pirates is the reason for global warming.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:FSM_Pirates.jpg - kingygk, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11@frieji3 At least they werent fired like imus was. CBS caved to the demands of a racist bigot Al sharpton.
- bigpappasmurf, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12This is crazy. O&A didn't make the comments they are being suspended over, it was Homeless Charlie. He should be suspended for 30 days.
Oh, if they do fire the b-boys, I will cancel my XM services, take my radio out of my car and flush it down the toilet. - kidcoconut, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10As a subscriber To XM since day one, a fan of ALL radio, a fan of O&A, a proponent of freedom of expression and freedom of speech, this is a sad day.
- TheBarge, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12@yeediddy
"Sirius has 6.6M subscribers as of 5/1/07. Prior to the announcement of Howard Stern coming to Sirius, they had less than .5M subscribers. It's fairly simple math."
Except that your simple math is incorrect. Stern debuted on Sirius in January of 2006. As of the end of 2005 Sirius had over 3M subscribers. Up from only 351,663 in March of 2004. They did this by using several new distribution and programming agreements during that time (do the research yourself). They've also made deals with automakers and rental companies (including Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, BMW, DaimlerChrysler, Dodge, Fleetwood, Ford, Hertz, Infiniti, Jaguar, Jeep, Kia and Landrover), and with the NFL, NASCAR, etc. I think their increase in subscribers is due to many other reasons than Howie. - mmurch03, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Oh and to all that say Sirius is better...watch for the merger...your going to love your new satellite overlords.
- mmurch03, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Good for you! Keep 'em coming!
- rmeat, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9I'm just curious, at what point did O & A violate FCC rules? 1st off they're on satellite radio and the referenced content was during the exclusively satellite broadcast portion of the show. I've heard stand up comedians say far more ludicrous and disgusting things, where's the outrage? You have the right to be offended by this but people who genuinely find it funny have the right to their opinion.
And your secret service argument is baseless since any reasonable person would know they weren't advocating the rape of a public official.
Annoying, again, the media. Take something out of context + run it up the flagpole = ratings. The next few weeks will indeed be irritating. - CraigB12, on 10/11/2007, -3/+12@egress
You are now on the National Terrorist Watch list - Aero1, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10the audio that happened yesterday that caused the suspension. *****!!!
