- MrBabyMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+37I just find it amusing that the world's most famous international superstar, voted several times over the sexiest man alive, can still get bitchslapped by an 83-year-old geezer.
- bflfab, on 10/12/2007, -4/+40We should all send his wife thank you flowers.
- geronimo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+30They also don't like that he left his older wife, who was unable to have children, opting for a younger, more attractive girl who was able to provide a child.
Try and get women to admit this, I dare you. - Brutis, on 10/12/2007, -4/+28"And he was costing us a lot of money. We felt he cost us $US100 million ($130 million), $US150 million ($195 million) on Mission: Impossible III. It was the best picture of the three, and it did the worst."
fully side with him on this, first movie was good, 2nd one sucked, 3rd one was great. Tom hung himself. - daedal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18I stopped even renting Tom Cruise movies when he started propagandizing Scientology. If you "found god" or Xenu or Buddha or Allah or what have you, then great, but don't try to convert people on talk shows.
- TheWriteGuy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19The third one is definitely the best, thanks to JJ Abrams. It did badly in the theater because of Tom Cruise's public antics. But I'm surprised by Sumner Redstone's comments: Because what he said is what many of us have been thinking, too, and he worded things frankly, without any of the typical PR ***** language that you normally expect to hear from a Hollywood guy. It's very refreshing.
- sophiaperennis, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18I like this version of Tom Cruise much better (Scary Movie 4):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7sUq0yq9SQ - jellygraph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11lol!
cruise is a freak, honestly... oh where oh where did it go all wrong?
oh, right, scientology... - kotatsu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11He did it to himself, the guy is a religious nut case and I won't waste my eyesight watcing anything he's in anymore. He's also a desperately mediocre actor, but that doesn't seem to matter much in Hollywood.
- DrakeGTA, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15You know why women hate Tom Cruise now right? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQcFYUBLzcw
- lingua203, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12All I need to know is that Tom Cruise firmly backs the evil cult scientology. I won't support anyone that is behind such a malevolent organization.
The people who sacked Tom Cruise would do well to be careful. Scientology is vindictive, does not forgive and has a long memory. - becknell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Oh dear Science!
- cvelusc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Tom deserves his professional suicide for dismissing psychology's usefulness.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7This is the end result of constantly being in the presence of people that say "yes" to everything you say.
- OwdenBowden, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7BOYCOTT TOM CRUISE AND EVERTHING RELATING TO SCIENCETOLOGY MAKING MONEY!
- dbug, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7What is there not to hate about Tom Cruise?
- theOster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7and of course what the networks DIDN'T want you to see...what REALLY happened on oprah
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-pprWhbPjc - MyDocuments, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8and all this time i thought it was because he was gay.
- SVPirate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Maybe he fired him cause he's a jerk? Or am I just stating the obvious again...
- joevill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Good for you!!! I hate Tom Cruise!
- brenbart, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Old people are funny!
I've always disliked that little fidget anyway. Besides, as a big Science Fiction fan it really bugged the ***** out of me that he was in so many of the big SF movies. - Desolite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5i want more– i crave things like this. tell me more of mr. cruise's antics.
- omnithought, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Good! Now just fire the other kooky Scientologists.
- n3tfury, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Bring back Maverick :(
- bovoit, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Yes, I am busted. I am one of those women who HATES Tom Cruise. Besides, why go see his movies when his ACTOR ROLES cannot top his real life antics. Tom Cruise is now yesterday's news
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Ah, so they aren't blaming piracy for once.
- noGoodNamesLeft, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5"Made" in the past tense. Paramount already have that money. The question for them (or any Hollywood studio) would be whether Cruise was likely to *continue* bringing in those billions in the future.
Think it's harsh that Cruise brought them all that money and now he's being dumped? Nope. That's why he was paid very large amounts of money; the studios aren't charities, they're a business. He got the benefit of the up-side. If another studio reckons he'll put backsides on seats, they'll pay him what they think that's worth. - jstem1994, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3http://www.tomcruiseisnuts.com/
- bowels, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I agree. Cruise is so old his career would have been winding down anyway.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Tom is a psycho scientology wacko. I wonder.. why didn't his great Ron Hubbard's spirit come in and save the day for him when he was getting booted off? Maybe xenu is angry. ***** dipwads.
"Tom, don't you think it's time to come out of the closet?" - noGoodNamesLeft, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3He's the same age Harrison Ford was in the mid-1980s. If he's becoming perceived as "too old", perhaps it's more likely that the type of roles that Cruise is normally associated with are less appropriate for his age...?
- somecheesypoofs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2MrBabyMan
That, is the best comment I have seen this year. Bravo! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I like how he called it "creative suicide," and that "all women have come to hate Tom Cruise." I guess Tom really has screwed himself.
No more movies for you, Cruise! - happyyellowbug, on 10/12/2007, -6/+8Women have known for a long time that Tom is completely CREEPY!
http://www.vainnotion.com/savingkatie/ - bowels, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3There is no disputing that Cruise is a nutcase, but MI3 was watchable - in spite of him, not because of him. The dude is so old anyway, retirement is a good idea.
- LFAB, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3No, but sacking a quarterback doesn't mean you fired him :-P
- fantasticjon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think they mean it cost them millions over what they expected. Studios will put out "blockbuster" movies that they expect to make tons of $$. They will put over $100 million into the big movies and hype the crap out of them and expect to make $100s of millions. Even if the movie was profitable, it is a loss of potenital profit from what was expected. You put a big expensive star in a 100 million dollar movie and hype and advertise the ***** out of it, then you expect it to do well.
At least it didn't lose money like waterworld. :) - mandarin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This just came in
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/11/02/movies/03cruisecnd.html?ex=1320123600&en=9106ca71c6634da5&ei=5088&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss - jedi0utkast, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2When will people learn that actors are people just like us, and stop obsesing with WTF they are doing on their personal lives, as long as the man is on good movies I will keep watching. Last samurai, Born in the 4th of july, A few good man, The firm, Minority Report, Far and Away, and list goes on and on, however crazy the man has become does not take away his legacy as an actor.
- ptrcd003, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Sacked = kicked in balls
- sassyspacey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I love the fact that he's short and I'm taller than him.
- Somniis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Don't see what the big deal is... just don't watch his movies or pay attention to him if you don't like him. No need to whine about it.
- DKDiveDude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yes :)
- sassyspacey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1He may be a good actor who has participated in good movies, but his insane antics make him look insane AND arrogant - he spews nonsense, hates on psychology, post-partum depression, etc., and basically says, "You're wrong, and I'm right because I'm an A-list actor." So because he is an arrogant insane "regular" person, I dislike him.
- 1337mama, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I think Nicole is better off without him. I'm not altogether sure he did the dumping, I wouldn't be surprised to find out that she left him.
The one thing that Tom Cruise has ever done right was the s-e-x scene in Top Gun. Everything else has been a let-down.
And all this from a middle aged housefrau :-) - staticneuron, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I am goint to quickly call BS on that one because it was only MI3 that was percieved as a loss. What about war of the worlds? To claim a loss on potential earnings is the same drivel they use to drag people to court over downloading movies. The Truth is..... Tom Cruise not only recieved a large sum of money to star in these films but was one of the few actors out there that recieved a large portion of box office sales. I was wondering when they were going to try to get rid of him for that and he gave the perfect excuse. The potential losses excuse is stupid.
- DKDiveDude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1
- staticneuron, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3The only thing more disturbing than this retarted excuse is the amount of people who agree with this. YES! Tom Cruise is nuts but does that make any of his movies less than great... no. I do not go to the movies to watch the "real" Tom Cruise. I go to the movies to watch a character that he portrays (which he does very well). This high school popularity whining is beyond stupid.
- marlintehrani, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this is the first remarkable decision i have ever seen come out of hollywood. well done. well done.
you lose, cruise.
abuse cruise.
refuse cruise.
don't choose cruise. - rowlodge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0he's my age...i know he's gotta be using "grecian formula"
