I didn't realize that my ex-girlfriend made that much of an impression on humanity. - Pyroteq, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22I knew it was coming as well >_<
Digg even though I'm Christian - AtHomeBoy2000, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19The Marlboro Man ranks higher than freakin' SANTA CLAUS!?!?
- ZigZags, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18Where's M Bison? Without his diabolical plans, there would have been no Street Fighter 2. And just where is the ZigZag papers man?
- fatalfury, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18Kaiser Soze?
- chocobomog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Big Brother @ 2?
I would really like to know how they came up this list. What are their qualifcations for "influence"? While the correct names seem to be on the list, they all seem out of order. - Rikkochet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Link is broken. It points to a totally random list of fictitious characters.
- Night, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Hmm there is a mistake in there, King Aurther did infact exist, tho his accomplisments and feats might not have. He was a celtic king who If I remember correctly reogrignized several tribes into one kingdom or something like that.
- TenebrousX, on 10/12/2007, -5/+18I knew someone would say that!
- TinMan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12The Little Engine That Could?
- porcelainduck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Pretty sure Romeo and Juliet are two different people, this is repeated a lot. Also i'm not sure Godzilla or Nessie are people. Lame.
- jblade, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9This list blows.
Burried - Inacurate - dungbeetle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Actually Saint Nicholas did exist, but sadly he didn't have flying wildlife.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Nicholas_of_Myra - converge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8this list should be #1 on the list of "worst lists".
- affanjam, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10Hey I met a guy named John Doe
- nixr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7No Darth Vader. No Digg.
- NoAccounting4me, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Lame. No explanation of what "influential" means, no explanation of ranking, just a bunch of fictional characters with high name recognition.
- xcheats, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Nice.
- talmaximus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5'obviously fraudulent'
Care to put a source down on that?
Where as you can take a look at:
- Evidence That Demands a Verdict
- More Than a Carpenter
- The Case For Christ
- The Ever Loving Truth
- Countless other books
- and the several thousand manuscripts that discuss the historical authenticity of the Bible and the existence of Jesus of Nazareth.
The words 'questionable' and 'fraudulent' don't come to mind. Jesus doesn't belong on that list because he did exist on this earth at the time the Bible says He did. To those who believe, He still exists and I'm one of those. I can't believe whoever started this thread was modded so high. - lustre, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Where's Simon? He's always saying something...
I didn't see Mother Goose on the list, either. - geekee, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11I think historical records show there was a Jesus of Nazareth. Whether or not you believe he was the son of God does not change the fact that the person existed.
- syuusuke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6hrm, interesting.. I would have thought superman would have been at least top 10.
- danielrh9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5This article is somewhat flawed. Not shocking, considering the source is USA Today, the McDonalds of newspapers. Many individuals on the list were real. Helen of Troy, St. Nicholas, King Arthur, St. Valentine, etc. Their accomplishments may have been fictionalized throughout history, but they did indeed live and breathe.
Sorry, this should be labelled both lame and inaccurate. - jmikola, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8"Who is Kaiser Soze?"
- deanlowe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6where's the Bogeyman?
- fixyourthinking, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I agree ... lame ... what influence did Paul Bunyan have? and who is The Wandering Jew?
- waveofthefuture, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8I've never even heard of the Marlboro Man
- invader, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9LMAO.. only on digg..
- ChileanGoD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4No McGruff?? the police dog... to "take a BITE out of CRIME!"
- Conco2k, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Kermit the Frog isn't even human... what a lame list!
- dongiaconia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Actually, if you click the link next to the title on the page, it does give you some information.
http://www.usatoday.com/life/people/2006-10-16-influential-people_x.htm
From TFA:
[Topping the list at No. 1: "The most famous killer of the last two hundred years," The Marlboro Man. The cowboy of death is followed by "Big Brother" of George Orwell's 1984,a symbol of totalitarianism, intrusive government control and surveillance. "That's as close to politics as we get," says computer
program/technical writer Karlan, 55.]
Wow, make sure you check out how hideous the book's home page is:

- Rotkiv, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4YES!!! batman beat superman!! batman rules!
- dongiaconia, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I can't believe Mickey Mouse is so low, he was the friggin password for the Allied Forces on D-Day.
Plus, there's all the references to the Mickey Mouse Copyright law.
Not to mention, as Walt Disney said, "Never forget, it all started with a mouse."
So all the parks, and movies, etc. are a direct result of Mickey. Including the park in Hong Kong which the Chinese Government spent hundreds of millions of dollars to help build (including the metro rail leading to it, land reclamation, and sewer systems etc.) - ippersiel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Or Yoda...
This list almost seems "sponsored". - airstrike, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9my name is jesus and i come from ciudad juarez
- jbohlinger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4St Nick AKA Santa was in fact a person. A person who was entered into the Catholic listing of Saints.
Also the Marlboro Man did exist. That is how he killed all those kids. - brendandonhue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Whether or not you believe in Santa Claus, I'd like to know how St. Nick became the bishop of Myre and attended the First Council of Nicaea without ever having lived.
- steve693, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3David Palmer.
