- danielrh9, on 05/30/2008, -0/+37I was in NYC last week on an anniversary trip with my wife, and one of the things we did was go see Late Night with Conan. We had a stroke of luck and just happened to be there when Harrison Ford was also there promoting Indiana Jones.
And I have to tell you, the grumpy stuff seems like an act. If you saw the episode last Wednesday, you might have seen the bit with one of the producers asking him a really geeky question, to which he responded "who gives a *****". That whole exchange was totally scripted. Between commercial breaks and off camera, Harrison was joking around with Conan and some of the people working on the show and even talked with some of the people in the crowd. He wasn't as super friendly as Conan, but he was far from being a jerk. - fishbeef33, on 05/30/2008, -4/+39He's not grumpy, he's just pulled many directions because of his fame. Also, he seems to genuinely want to make good films and is willing to sacrifice his own paycheck to do so. Case in point: Ford really wanted Han Solo to be killed off in Empire Strikes Back. He believed that the death of a main character was key to retaining the tension and drama in the series. George Lucas said no and ended up making Return of the Jedi, a movie in which Han Solo is basically a wasted character. Ford was right.
The reason that Indy and the Crystal Dull...I mean Skull, ended up getting made was not because Ford loved the script but because he gave Lucas and Spielberg an ultimatum: make another Indy film in the next two years, or I'm out. There was no time to make the script better, and because Lucas wrote it of course it sucked. I don't think Ford went into the new movie thinking it was going to be great...he just knew that there wasn't any time left and he wanted to work with Spielberg and wear the fedora again.
So, maybe he is a little grumpy. I'd be grumpy too if I waited 20 years to play Indy again and then had to sacrifice my artistic integrity to act in this script. - inactive, on 05/29/2008, -1/+27I saw than Conan interview, the entire time I was wondering what is this guys ***** problem. It is amazing a guy who is that dry is such a great actor.

Heres hoping you never get mad at me. - inactive, on 05/30/2008, -1/+24That movie really nuked the fridge
- fishbeef33, on 05/30/2008, -0/+24He also acts well.
- magicbullets, on 05/30/2008, -1/+20How many other 'Harrisons' do you know, happy or otherwise? It's Weird-Name Syndrome, which is a syndrome I just made up and may write a white paper on. You don't meet too many happy Adolfs either. Or Papa Docs, for that matter.
I really think I'm onto something here. - SilentJay74, on 05/30/2008, -0/+16Have you seen my wife?
- solistus, on 05/30/2008, -2/+16Hey everyone, wanna play a fun game?
Find a fairly new story that makes front page with no posted mirror and a server taken down by the digg effect. Then, refresh the page a couple times and see how fast it gets dugg without anyone even being able to see the content!
Hooray, Web 2.0! - TechGuy206, on 05/30/2008, -3/+17He's grumpy because aliens ruined an unforgettable trilogy.
- catachip, on 05/30/2008, -0/+14I remember watching the Conan episode just recently where he interviewed Harrison Ford. All I could think of was, wow, this is awkward. At one point he is asked if he has any famous Indy memorabilia in his home, his was response was "I don't need any of that crap". And he definitely wasn't joking.
- gbouchard, on 05/30/2008, -4/+17Indiana Jones IV = a bit overkill -_-
- chevyorange, on 05/29/2008, -1/+13I ain't nobody, dork.
- UMDirector, on 05/30/2008, -0/+10Uh Lucas didn't write the script...David Koepp did...
- guimonkey, on 05/30/2008, -1/+10I dugg your comment without reading it.
- Hero0fTime, on 05/30/2008, -0/+8You call him Dr. Jones, doll!
- danielrh9, on 05/30/2008, -1/+7Or perhaps we're just digging it so that we can see it later when the site is back.
- JAGUART, on 05/30/2008, -0/+6It's already been established that he's a replicant, which is characterized by lack of emotional responses and empathy. Sheesh.
- FecalHurler, on 05/30/2008, -2/+7The Digg Effect makes me grumpy.
- inactive, on 05/30/2008, -1/+6I've read that directors pull their hair out trying to get actual emotion out of the guy on screen
- SirFoxx, on 05/30/2008, -0/+5Does anyone know why he made $8 million less for Clear and Present Danger than he did for Patriot Games? I thought both movies were great and I know Clear and Present Danger did better than Patriot Games.
- InnerBlueAbyss, on 05/30/2008, -1/+6Buried for the popups and spam *****
- DemonicKyle, on 05/30/2008, -0/+5GET OFF MY PLANE!
- okaroleo, on 05/30/2008, -0/+4They lost me with when is tarted to get Sci-Fi. That was not the religious icon chasing Indy we came to love and watch over and over and over and over and ....
First half was an awesome classic Indy tho! - jedimasta, on 05/30/2008, -2/+6Would you friggin get over it? Way to repeat what every other moron is saying. Good or bad, Crystal Skull changes nothing about the first three movies. They are as good as they ever were. Disappointed in the latest? Leave it off of your all night film-fests.
Tool. - SkippyDoorknob, on 05/30/2008, -0/+4Get off my plane!
- ZenMojo, on 05/30/2008, -0/+4The part about him getting bullied in school doesn't surprise me. If you listen to him talk, he actually seems incredibly humble, even shy, in his 60's despite being a multi-millionaire hollywood superstar.
- xtinamo, on 05/30/2008, -0/+4Lucas co-wrote the story though which was equally as lame.
- bbqsalad, on 05/30/2008, -1/+4I would be grumpy also if I had to come home to Flockhart every night.
- inactive, on 05/30/2008, -1/+4I agree, my actualy name is Squishy McJackass. My brother, Gaylord McJackass, and I are always grumpy.
Luckily my son, Bonerhead McJacass seems to be well adjusted, for now. - RubineBoy, on 05/30/2008, -0/+3I think it's medical. He just suffers from a chronic pain in the butt. Wouldn't you look grumpy too?
I would I guess ... But I never had a pain in the butt before so I don't really know. I'll give it some time. - ncnavguy, on 05/30/2008, -0/+3Who cares, most old men I know are grumpy at least when they are not talking to people they want to (ie like their friends and family instead of press interviews) I'll probably be a grumpy old man too one day
- kingmanic, on 05/30/2008, -0/+4***** Ben Affleck is nothing special. You should try ***** Matt Damon.
- djphatjive, on 05/30/2008, -1/+3He was playing the part of Indy in the interview. Come on people!
- projjalc, on 05/30/2008, -0/+2He act swell.
- BigPapi, on 05/30/2008, -0/+2Tommy Lee Jones is a huge grump too. I don't really understand it. If you don't like people, then just stay home and stop accepting interviews. It's not like you need money or anything.

- ZenMojo, on 05/30/2008, -1/+3Then again, he also wrote Jurassic Park: Lost World.
- ericthegreat, on 05/30/2008, -0/+2Did anyone notice this is a company blatantly trying to draw traffic to their site to sell products? Why else would a stupid article like this be listed as a whitepaper on some anti-spam network appliance site?
- ibone, on 05/30/2008, -0/+2Although firewall was not great, it wasnt that bad of a film.
- rowlodge, on 05/30/2008, -0/+2i wish he would do another bladerunner type science fiction movie, i said "type" not another bladerunner.
- thrashertm, on 05/30/2008, -0/+2I'm guessing he took a % of revenue in lieu of a higher up front fee.
- LogicBomB, on 05/30/2008, -1/+3Maybe he's grumpy because:
1. He's old
2. Money doesn't = happiness
3. Have you looked at the crap hollywood has been doing/throwing out lately? - SteveCUBE, on 05/30/2008, -0/+2*****
- crapuccino, on 05/30/2008, -0/+2He's been from one side of the galaxy to the other and seen a lot of strange stuff, but he's never seen any reason to be cheerful.
- freeth1nker, on 05/30/2008, -1/+3He belongs in a museum!
- mayhemchaos, on 05/30/2008, -0/+2it didnt ruin the trilogy - it just ruined itself.
- solarisom, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1I miss the old days of Star Wars and Blade Runner, when Harrison Ford had a personality.
- MasterTroll, on 05/30/2008, -1/+2Give me back my family.
