- MrBabyMan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Once again, this is a good reason for digg to add a 'books' section to their Entertainment category. I'm unsure how well RAW is known outside literary circles.
- shanealeslie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I agree, books and authors should have their own section.
So much of the world is influenced by the written word that
they should have put in books right from the start - heck, they
could replace videos with books and do us all a service :P - 23r17i05o42n, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9fnord
hail Eris!
23 skidoo - deter1ii, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Right, I stay away from videos, because theyre videos. I agree videos should be there as a section, but who can watch them at work, we need literature not video.
- Wahngrok, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5hail Discordia!

- shanealeslie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I agree, books and authors should have their own section.
- shanealeslie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Tried to digg this myself, but it wouldn't go through. glad that someone got it in.
Already sent in my donation. hope he spends his final days surrounded by loved ones,
and passes on with all the dignity he deserves. - magnusbe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Yeah, I also sent a donation. I haven't read all his books, but I loved the ones I read. I remember waiting eagerly for years to read the Illuminatus trilogy after hearing about it due to the KLF referencing it all the time.
A section for books and review would be a good idea.- MrBabyMan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6In the past, "A Clockwork Orange", "Fight Club", and "Tristram Shandy" have all been called 'unfilmable' books, and they have all since been committed to celluloid, mostly successfully. The one, true unfilmable novel to this day would have to be RAW's Illuminatus Trilogy. It's dense, absurd, stream-of-consciousness could only exist as a book. Please, digg, open up a books category!
- monkey23, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7The heart breaking thing for me is that he is suffering from post-polio syndrome - something which is both incurable and untreatable. Hopefully, this is all a cosmic joke and he was body swapped by the Atlanteans years ago.
fnord- UGM2099, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I am thankful he overcame polio as a child, much to the surprise of his doctors, and lived long enough to affect the lives of many people and contribute his brilliance to our culture.

- JoeBlunt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Throw away all those self help books. This guy's books will change your life forever and entertain you all along the way.
@MrBabyMan:
If Lord of the Rings is able to be set to film, Illuminatus! is surely filmable. Yes it's dense, but it is not any more absurd than Starship Troopers and far more humorous than either of these.- MrBabyMan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Believe me, I'll be the first in line when it happens. I vote for John Rhys-Davies as Hagbard Celine.
- UGM2099, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I'll never forget the first time I read Prometheus Rising and Cosmic Trigger
- drderail, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3To Save Time:
I agree.
Me Too.
Nazi.
Godwin.
Done. - ExisKorlan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Thanks for posting this, RAW is one of my hero's and one the the smartest people I ever had the pleasure of talking to.
- ketha, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4This is sad. He's one of my all time heroes. I don't really have many heroes. One of the few people that changed my life just by his writing.
- Gwarsbane, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0I know I'm gonna get digged down for this but, this looks exactly like a post I had on a forums I help run. They made a web page and everything for the guy and even said "if you don't believe me, e-mail me at..." ya I know it sounds stupid but its true, some people do this and some people fall for it.
I'm not saying this is the same people this could be legit, just be careful with your cash.- dzappone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4The original blog post was from Douglas Rushkoff a friend of RAW. The link on this digg is from Boing Boing which I'd say is also rather reputable and also has ties to RAW.
- monkey23, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2As others have said before me, RAW is my personal mentor. Like a fat housewife with Oprah, I've got Bob. And unfortunately, its all too true. Earlier this year, he was on his deathbed but decided he was going to stick around a bit longer. I'd say, if you were skeptical, go on a book-buying spree instead, but I'm not sure what is publishing royalty arrangements are like right now and how quickly the payouts would find their way to him.
Hell, go on a book-buying spree anyways. The time you invest in reading his works will change you forever.
- doctechnical, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1RAW should take a page from Timothy Leary's book - sell subscriptions to a webcam broadcast of his last moments and death. That should raise a few bucks, enough to keep him in 'frop until Eris calls him home (or not, depending on Her mood).
- teahsea, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2indeed, bob has changed my life more than any other author or philospher that I've read. His genius will be appreciated for generations to come. I'll do what I can to help. And for those of you who don't know of this man, if you're interested in psychology, the psychedelic experience, or just learning how to navigate reality on your own terms, read R.A.W's books! I suggest Prometheus Rising to start out, or Illuminatus Trilogy for a science fiction conspiracy fantasy *****...
- lazlonger, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I just bought Schrodinger's Cat a few weeks ago....since I wrote a song called Schrodinger's Other Cat I thought I'd better do some more "research". The illuminatus tri was a big thing for me as a kid.
- p0gue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hell yeah! Its official -- Operation Mindfsck is going trans-dimentional!
Thank you "Bob!" I can see the fnords!! $23 sent.
- p0gue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hell yeah! Its official -- Operation Mindfsck is going trans-dimentional!
- magnusbe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3RAW's daughter reports that over $68000 has been donated!
http://www.boingboing.net/2006/10/05/note_from_robert_ant.html - felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I didn't realise how sick R.A.W. was, or the financial situation, until now. Oh hell. I'm crying at work. This is embarassing.
- quantumsaint, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've been told I'm a cold blooded, heartless bastard, but I have tears in my eyes.
I have more Bob books on my shelf then any other author for good reason, he's the best author. He's funny, intelligent, and unique to a degree that other people can only imitate. I had hoped one day to meet him, but it looks like that won't happen in this life. - bubbet4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0maybe this is really bs and someone is making a "killing" off of him...i'm obviously skeptical that my money would actually go to him!
