- maglob, on 10/12/2007, -24/+5Cheeta turned 75 on the 9th not on the 11th like it says (well it says yesterday and it was published on the 12th)
- greenlight2001, on 10/12/2007, -3/+24You're arguing about something nobody cares about...
It's the fact he's 75 years old that's cool. - DurkaMcDurk, on 10/12/2007, -14/+4monkeys ***** rule...
- linuxdaemon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Monkeys may rule. A chimpanzee is an ape though.
- ChicknBot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Hey that chimp is living it large, check the pics, I doubt any of its cousins lives in a mansion with servants.
- Kamill85, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Too bad http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1980110/ is so short ;(
- acdcfanbill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Well he outlasted Johnny Weissmuller. :(
- Malakin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6More pictures of Cheeta on his 75th birthday here:
http://gamma.fnphoto.com/stories/2366/index.htm - mrfish, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Now I've seen everything frim Chimpan-A to Chimpan-Z
- Yesplease, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Well I figure, if you assume an average of 75 year lifespan for people, this makes Cheeta about 112-113 in people years. That's pretty good, but im not impressed.
- lnappropriate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I wonder if the chimp has facebook. He should definitely post his birthday party pics
- greenlight2001, on 10/12/2007, -3/+24You're arguing about something nobody cares about...
- michaelb1, on 10/12/2007, -3/+21I think we just found our next President.
- ichoudhury, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Are you an Ape?
- MWeather, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Yes, and so is every other human being.
- cambrown99, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I'll take him over the one we've got.
- michaelb1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7No, I am not an ape but I share 95% of my DNA with them.
- syder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I think it's unlikely...
...a recent Gallup poll revealed that 57% of people won't vote for a candidate who is more than 72 years old. - MWeather, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"No, I am not an ape but I share 95% of my DNA with them."
You ARE an ape. It may sound nicer to say hominid, but an ape by any other name is still an ape.
- LiceHelpDotCom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Makes you go: "awwww!"
- hotpepper, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9He looks like the current president.
- stupidbrowner, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14That's very insulting to Cheeta!
- rswelling, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2>He looks like the current president.
aww c'mon he's much more handsome.
- checksumz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21What a pimp, he's just hanging out in the sun, eating fruit and finger painting.
- picaman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7The world's oldest [known] chimp. There may be an older one in the wild, but I doubt it.
- checksumz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18Yeah, I don't think they'd be able to live as long in the wild. You know, the whole jungle thing.
- petsheep, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Good for Cheetah, like Abe Vigoda, I keep thinking he died last year
- OwdenBowden, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1See Abe Vigoda almost everyday - and he is very much alive... Old - but alive
- bumfish, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1he maybe 75 years old, but I still wouldnt "monkey" around with him, geddit?
- Antibland, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Give that chimp a pair of dentures.

- jbolan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Ahhh the life of a retired movie star chimp. Look how good he has it! He's living better than most of us probably!
- KingVegas702, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2Did anyone just see that we all just got dugg down once?
- shartman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5That is awesome! It's good to hear that he is being taken well care of.
- Goner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2talk about a skate job... Assistant to CHEETA. You hang out at the CHEETA mansion all day and make sure he's kept in sugar-free muffins and finger paint..
- markp93, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, you don't look like a monkey, because you are an ape, but you smell like one, tooooooo.
something like that...- ichoudhury, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, you look like a tailless monkey, and you smell like one too!
- PUBAND, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So, does he live next door to Lancelot Link (Secret Chimp), and does Matta Hairy live nearby too?
- scrtyfrk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Geez... that chimp lives better than I do! I hope to be doing that well when I am 75!!!
- floorman56, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Cheeta became the longest lived known chimpanzee upon reaching the age 64 in 1996. As of 2007, Cheeta is still alive at the age of 75, living at a primate sanctuary called Creative Habitats and Enrichment for Endangered and Threatened Apes (or CHEETA) in Palm Springs, California. He is cited by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's oldest primate (presumably meaning oldest non-human primate).
In retirement Cheeta watches television and makes paintings which are sold to benefit primate-related charities. He often watches his old films with his grandson, Jiggs, and also likes to leaf through books (presumably with lots of pictures) and "play" the piano
Cheeta celebrated his 75th birthday on April 9th, 2007 in Palm Springs at his "Casa de Cheeta", hosted by Dan Westfall and Diane Weissmuller, (Johnny Weissmuller, Jr.'s widow). Many Palm Spring celebrities and press attended.
There have been 4 unsuccessful attempts to secure a star for Cheeta on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the most recent two in 2005 & 2006 spearheaded by filmmaker Matt Devlen who is again organizing another campaign for 2007.
I also heard he use to have a beer and a smoke a day untill her went to the new place - bigern75, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Heres his site; http://www.cheetathechimp.org/index.html
- shendigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Did you know...
"He lives happily at the C.H.E.E.T.A Primate Sanctuary in Palm Springs, California, a home for primates who have retired from the movie industry and the show business.(sic)"
I never knew that there were so many retired primates - that they needed their own retirement home...
http://gamma.fnphoto.com/stories/2366/pages/12-2366-0024.htm - jeffreym, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wonder what he thought of Peter Jackson's "King Kong"?
- vaduzl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1shame Chimps dont rip the balls off, and bite the face off of all humans who enslave them
