Logic being: people who drive drunk = douchebags. - honkyman5000, on 10/12/2007, -9/+47FREEDOM!!! hic
- Toon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+30Tell that to the person on the receiving end of his "bad day" when he crashes into them and kills them.
"Here lies Larry. He had a bad day. At least a celebrity killed him." - thenativeraver, on 10/12/2007, -5/+27http://digg.com/users/animalgod/dugg
Look at that, it that really necessary? - Phyltre, on 10/12/2007, -10/+31We all drive drunk/get DUIs?
- GopherGod, on 10/12/2007, -19/+34Do you think he just came from the last supper?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+19Judge: "Do you have anything to say in your defense Mr. Gibson?"
Mel: "Really your honor, I was drinking bottled water. Jesus is always playing practical jokes on me and this time he's gone too far." - Koopa, on 10/12/2007, -17/+26I think he was drinking water, and his messiah changed it to wine without his knowledge.
- animalgod, on 10/12/2007, -6/+14Those are diggs, not posts. Last time I checked, I can like whatever I want to, and I really like these articles. ALL OF THEM.
- borninda818, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8LMFAO
What I want to know is why this one made it and the rest didn't.
Luck? - CornStarch, on 10/12/2007, -16/+22This is the kind of ***** that makes Christians act like they're being crucified, you put them up on a cross and say "look at what Christians are really like". It's like a minister holding up a picture of Hitler and saying "This is what atheist do", it's ***** stupid weather a Christian or atheist says it. Ignorance is ignorance.
- CornStarch, on 10/12/2007, -9/+15If you think Mel Gibson is KING of the Christians right now then you don't know much about Christians.
When you say you're a Christian you're not saying that you live a certain way, you're making a promise to God and yourself to live a certain way. If you can't see the difference between the two then you have too big a chip on your shoulder.
And I don't see what Gibson did to screw with or preach to anyone. He made the movie he wanted to make out of his pocket and didn't force anyone to watch it. And even when talked about what he believed in it was always at the behest of an interviewer, I can't recall him ever going out of his way to shove his moral superiority in anyone's face. - diargasm, on 10/12/2007, -8/+14he's an anti-semite because he didn't bow down to Jewish run hollywood to censor his movie on Jesus Christ.
- dielawn, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10well, when he does crash and kill me, ill make sure my family slaps him with a nice 50 million dollar law suit
- jiggleflop, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Wow, you people are so anal...
Suspicion of DUI, one beer, one glass of wine, and thanks to MADD, you can have a DUI.
I cant stand Mel, but when he gets a DWI, I'll agree with you.
A certain amount of responsibility goes with being an adult, that means you dont drive drunk, but to not drive because of your glass of wine at dinner is just silly.
While you get on your high horse, I'll have a beer and drive down to the beach here in Aruba, and not even care... - ccran, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5You mean how he portrayed the Jews such as Jesus and his disciples?
- SlashNot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4and whitesaint, dont try to say things like that on digg, it will be buried. That is the biggest flaw with this system, you get buried for not agreeing with the majority. But why am I typing this, it will be buried.
- Scruffydan, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Stay out of Malibu Lebowski! Stay out of Malibu dead beat!
- Tiabin, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8"I really like these articles. ALL OF THEM."
LOL! That's so funny I'd almost swear it was a part of a comedy sketch. - Karyyk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Judging from your user name and uncontrollable desire to accuse everyone of being a mollestor, I'd say it's because you're a Scientologist.
- SwordofKahless, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I could see criticizing the guy for drinking and driving but the rampant anti-christian bigotry demonstrated throughout this thread is uncalled for.
- suldar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5This article seems to have the most details:
"A breath test indicated Gibson's blood-alcohol level was 0.12 percent, Whitmore said."
http://www.showbuzz.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/07/28/people_hot_water/main1846500.shtml - Popdmb, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9Paparazzi? Ouch. That's the best you could come up with? I'd probably go with Conspiracy Theory or Braveheart.
- CornStarch, on 10/12/2007, -9/+12The guy said he was a Christian not an angel, *****. Of course he's in the wrong, but what that has to do with his personal beliefs I don't understand. Everyone who related this to his religion is just as bad as those preachers who blame every bad thing in this world on people not being Christian.
- BlackFlag, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Seibed,
Was Hitler really Catholic? I thought that was just a front for his occult interests.
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazi_mysticism for an overview. Google nazi+occult for much more. - ksponge, on 10/12/2007, -8/+11Sorry man, but you if you haven't noticed already, nothing sways a religious zealot.
- SlashNot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4lmao POTC did not show jews in a bad light. I cant believe how ridiculous you people are. He makes one movie about Jesus so he must be holy? He has been in umpteen other movies that are the farthest from religious, but everyone hates him because he made one about his beliefs.
- ccran, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4This post is getting old, so most of you who have posted aren't going to see this. But I'm gonna rant anyway.
Look, I'm not a Christian. Someone needs to point out, however, that many of these comments are nothing more than pure bigotry. I'm assuming your disdain for Gibson is rooted in what you perceive as his own bigotry and hypocrisy. Interesting, that. - Tiabin, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7Just looks bad when someone as famous as he is, who has supposedly done wonderful things for "God's kingdom" by producing an incredibly famous movie that millions wept over and were left "speechless," is busted for risking other people's lives for a night of fun. No one's expecting perfection, but that's a little bit reckless. Most probably would've rather heard that he broke a law that did NOT involve needlessly risking other people's lives.
- awhiteflame, on 10/12/2007, -7/+10because we so want to read your blog that restates exactly what this article says.
- seibed, on 10/12/2007, -11/+13Cornstarch, that'd be a great example, except for the fact that Hitler was considered a Catholic.
- nickerbocker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"waaa waaaa Digg sucks"
Why are you on this site then? Why do you have an account? - Clemenceau, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The thing is, the article never seemed to say he was actually drunk, just that they were "suspicous" of it.
- dimatt, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4On the news they said he was only arrested for speeding :s
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Celebrity arrested for drunken driving, cursing and being disorderly"
Oh noes! Someone was belligerent while intoxicated!
Time for moral Hollywood to tear this gentile a new one! - k8nmodha, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the guy is definitely an anti-semite. drunkenness is no excuse to be prejudiced. if you're a bigot when you're drunk, then you're prolly just hiding your prejudice when you're sober.
- missrose, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Morality is conscience. The innate feeling that hurting someone intentionally could possibly be wrong. Drinking is fine I guess, but drinking and driving could hurt someone. Respecting your community would be moral.
Religion is its own animal and could not possibly have anything to do with morality or immorality.
Let me not get started on hating groups of people for no reason. Some people are so out of it OR soooo high up that they don't live in the real world. - bnitro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1FREEEDOM!
- nickerbocker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Notice the feature to turn off unwanted topics. They put it there for a reason.
- jefbob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1How does driving drunk make someone a douchebag? I have driving what is legally considered drunk more times than I care to try and count, and I can tell you, I was less of a danger than many people out there on the road during the day who are sober. Now, since Mel was clocked at 87 in a 45, I would say he was being dangerous. I just wanted to say that driving 'drunk' is not really the problem, its driving drunk and crazy at the same time that kills people. There are many people who can get in their cars drunk and drive home obeying the speed limit and not drive recklessly every night of the week and not kill somebody.
Now begin modding me down for advocating drunk driving. - McMultiverse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Related Story: http://digg.com/celebrity/Mel_Gibson_Vindicated_By_Thunderdome_Police_Report_Humor
- ccran, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"I think bad drivers should be punished as harsh as drunk drivers."
Yeah. They should both be held accountable if they harm person or property. - joepinion, on 10/12/2007, -7/+8"That's the only thing they claim they have over free-thinking normal people, moral superiority."
No. Not moral superiority. Just an active relationship with a relational, living God who offers new life as a free gift, not because I did good and didn't get arrested. - joeydoo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2^ Too true ^
This isn't a "slight glance" at some porn. Or other things which Christians think are wrong but are actually ok. This is a proper, morally despicable, act which endangers peoples lives. You don't make "a promise to god to not do these things".
YOU DON'T DO IT! There should be no need to think of it as a weakness. This isn't a failing which you need to work on. Mel Gibson has SO MUCH money he has no possible excuse to drive himself whilst under the influence. It's not like he isn't going to be able to make the rent if he gets a cab. His life isn't going to screw up royally once he is without the pittance of that cab fare. He could afford to let some one drive him home and if they kept the car it would be of such in-consequence to him financially; it would be like an average earner dropping a few pennies down the gutter.
Despite the above statement I don't hate the man, but, he should be jailed and made an example of. - whitesaint, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5Mel Gibson is a great man. The reason he portrayed Jews as such monstrosities is because that's what really happened! Mel Gibson didn't jus make it up and put it into the Passion; he got it from a stigmatic nun from the 1800's named Anne Catherine Emmerich who made many astounding predictions about the future and had many many visions. Anne Catherine Emmerich couldn't read yet her visions made complete sense with the new testament. By the way, Anne Catherine Emmerich's visions are much more violent than what is depicted in the Passion.
I don't think anybody in recent times has brought so many people closer to God, which is why we are put on this earth for, to love God and then to love one another. How many of you have brought people closer to God?
Mel Gibson acknowledges he isn't perfect, why is everybody expecting him to be so? So he got caught drinking and driving, big deal, i know for certain that he still loves God with his whole heart. I mean even Jesus drunk wine in the bible. You people that are putting down Mel Gibson have no idea what you are talking about and how you are hurting everybody in the process. You have so much hate for him when all he shows is love for everybody! And it was his hand's that nailed Jesus to the cross in the movie for crying out loud!
One mistake by a devout Catholic is not enough to condemn him or the Passion, he's still human. Love Love Love, there is way too much hate in this world :-( - robbiedo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Karma...the great equalizer. If you were the arresting officer, you would have to think that no good was going to come from this encounter no matter how it went down. They should have popped him a few for resisting
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I think bad drivers should be punished as harsh as drunk drivers. They're pretty much the same thing. If we actually gave a ***** about protecting our people, we'd stop this homeland security bull and start handing out HUGE fines for bad driving. That'd take the idiots off the road and would save tens of thousands of lives every year....Much more than a terrorist can blow up with a few suicide bombers.
