- RealmDown, on 03/05/2009, -2/+114The article description has the jury convicting him IN the movie. *shakes head*
- IAmTheGuy, on 03/05/2009, -3/+102The headline could have been reworded so people don't piss themselves thinking Daniel Radcliffe has been murdered.
- inactive, on 03/04/2009, -3/+65Who the ***** is Marcus Belby?
- FeloniusMonkey, on 03/05/2009, -6/+56EXPELIAMOS! (I also enjoy shouting that in a public stall when I'm about to drop a deuce)
- inactive, on 03/05/2009, -0/+41Incarceratous !!
- puter, on 03/05/2009, -1/+31Thank you, I was wondering if I was the only thing that read that and thought "How the hell didn't I hear that the 'Harry Potter' actor was murdered?"
- Anim8tor, on 03/05/2009, -3/+31He was going to be huge.
- Swipecat, on 03/05/2009, -0/+26Not much of an article. Try this one which shows just what a piece of work the killer is:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/7912176.stm - inactive, on 03/05/2009, -7/+29Harry Potters' boyfriend
- fadeddragon, on 03/05/2009, -0/+17http://harrypotter.wikia.com/wiki/Marcus_Belby
- OwdenBowden, on 03/05/2009, -8/+25I guess someone wasn't too quick with their wand.
- Skurt, on 03/05/2009, -1/+16While sad for the gentleman, the headline is misleading as hell.
Way to troll for web hits Chicago Tribune. - mimigins, on 03/05/2009, -0/+15The author did that herself
- inactive, on 03/05/2009, -29/+42I bet the movie sucked, so the producers had the kid whacked so they could go for the Heath effect to sell more tickets.
- malonie, on 03/05/2009, -8/+19I just cant comprehend why people need to kill somebody, I mean life is precious. If they have anger management, theres always Call of Duty and shoot as many people as they want, it works for me.
- willster580, on 03/05/2009, -1/+12The title could have been reworded to:
"Man Convicted of Murdering Actor in Harry Potter Series"
or even the name of the article itself (Man convicted in murder of actor in Harry Potter film gets life in prison). - honeymustardn, on 03/05/2009, -0/+10You can say bitch here, it's okay.
- karlyguy, on 03/05/2009, -1/+10buried for misleading title.
- Cabose, on 03/05/2009, -1/+10How many people were thinking "Who the ***** got killed? I thought that would've been big news."?
- MiDri, on 03/05/2009, -2/+10because, sadly; stupid people don't think of the consequences. (nor do they have the empathy to care)
- JROXZ, on 03/05/2009, -3/+11Dugg for "Heath Effect"...
- jdames1980, on 03/05/2009, -0/+8These comments suck. We are talking about a horrific murder here, it is no laughing matter.
- ratherstupid, on 03/05/2009, -0/+7Really? "Then as they kept running at me the knife was catching them while they kept running into it." His defense is to say that he was just standing there helpless while they were running into his knife?
- AlienHairball, on 03/05/2009, -0/+7Oh we see the sarcasm. It just isn't that funny ;-)
- MonkeyOverlord, on 03/05/2009, -0/+6It's sad that the UK is having to learn the hard way that the sort of people who will murder another person are not going to deterred by having their weapon of choice denied to them. Take away guns, they'll use knives. Take away knives, they'll use baseball bats or something equally tough. Take that away, they'll just grab a big stick or rock.
Modern western society believes that we're all essentially good, but that's not true. The sort of person who would murder you with a gun would probably murder you with a knife. The only solution is to eliminate people like this from society being either killing them in self-defense or giving them a sentence that permanently removes them (can be life in prison). - inactive, on 03/05/2009, -8/+14Oh no. He who must not be named is back!
- InfinitySnatch, on 03/05/2009, -0/+6Rob Knox. More famous in death than as Marcus Belby.
- jason210, on 03/05/2009, -1/+7They have anything but rednecks in Uzbekistan?
- glockman69, on 03/05/2009, -1/+7yeah but he was convicted yesterday....
- ph0replay, on 03/05/2009, -5/+11Buried for having horrendously titled article, and because Rob Knox was killed in May 2008.
- Coffeedemon, on 03/05/2009, -0/+6Not a famous enough victim.
- inactive, on 03/05/2009, -0/+4Marcus Belby.
- 1x253, on 03/05/2009, -1/+5Yeah, that's a lot better. Thank you! From his words it sounds as if he has no remorse and (worse still) that he has the idea that he could have done nothing to have avoided it. He had 2 weeks to find a different place to drink (pubs in London? Millions of them!) or to not drink at all b/c clearly he was getting into altercations when he drank.
Actions leading to consequences is completely lost on this guy. Another example of modern day Fractured Consciousness Syndrome; one part of the brain is NOT communicating with the other. - ChuyMatt, on 03/05/2009, -3/+7man, that guy LOOKS a bit off too, doesn't he?!
I like how they try to say that the combo of pot and alcohol made him violent. mmm.... probably just the alcohol and being a friggin ass, if studies are to be believed. - Rudegar, on 03/05/2009, -0/+4damn Muggles and their knives!
- AlexTommo, on 03/05/2009, -2/+6He had no remorse for his actions. He said "he's dead? Sweet!" something along those lines.
Then realized that due to his sentence, he cursed at the fact he was gonna miss a Ricky Hatton fight. - burjzyntski, on 03/05/2009, -6/+10Who is John Galt?
- BlaqReaper, on 03/05/2009, -0/+4Sensationalism
- slugpellet63, on 03/06/2009, -1/+5Someone actually died you thoughtless PRICK
- OfficialJoe, on 03/05/2009, -0/+4I just saw "murder" and "Harry Potter" and thought: NOT HERMOINE NOOOOOO!111!!!!!
- Winstonsodyssey, on 03/05/2009, -0/+3Or people with standards that don't want to read a kid's version of a romance novel.
You know, same thing, - petebot, on 03/05/2009, -0/+3There are so many things wrong with that sentence...
- ahhell, on 03/05/2009, -6/+9What a piece of ***** chav.
It's a shame that the UK doesn't have the death penalty. - Autodidaddict, on 03/05/2009, -0/+3Skurt:
I'll waste my time and explain. Users submit stories to digg with their own headline and description. When reading the actual headline carried by the Chicago Tribune, it's not misleading at all. It's the user submitted one that is.
Also, the Tribune is carrying this story which is actually an AP story. Hence, an AP staff writer most likely wrote the headline.
So it's not the Chicago Tribune that's trolling for "web hits"
dumbass - inactive, on 03/05/2009, -0/+3You mean its not a true story?
- NicoNicoNico, on 03/06/2009, -0/+3It's called black humor. It can actually be a soothing reaction to something that is horrible. It's not meant to offend in any way.
Wikipedia article here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_humor - Eurynom0s, on 03/05/2009, -0/+3Hey man, he probably would have told the cops the kids stabbed themselves if he thought they'd have believed him.
- askantik, on 03/05/2009, -1/+4Then it isn't the death penalty that it is needed, it's a more thorough justice system. There can, in fact, be some middle ground-- you don't have to go from one extreme to another.
- whytey, on 03/05/2009, -0/+3can you read? 'murdering teenage actor Rob Knox'
- RickDeckard9000, on 03/05/2009, -0/+2Potions class is fun.
I have made so many friends and money from all the white powder potions I learned how to make.
