Jokes are fair-game, but you are making ignorant jokes like "how can I draw that if you keep moving it". This was not an art class for making art, it was one for learning about the arts. If you RTFA you would know that. Ignorant humor is not funny at all.

      Second, I don't see an issue with what he did. I'm sure it happens more often than you would think about here in the U.S. and no one cares. However in ultra-conservative China it is something new, and outside the borders of the norm. This makes things that would not be taboo here, taboo there.

    If it was a grade school teacher it would be a big deal because it would be inappropriate, if it was was younger lady university professor, it would a big deal because we'd all wish he had teachers like that.
    But, it was just some old bastard taking a foolish route to try and prove a point to university kids, none of whom haven't seen tons of nudity before.
    Big whoop. Why is this on CNN?

      Does it make it any less strage? No, but it wouldn't have emotionally scared the students.

    He could have given them a warning, yes, but I see nothing wrong with it. They're mature enough to deal with it - If they felt uncomfortable they could have left. This isn't as if he stripped off infront of some underage kids - these people are adults.

    If you're taking an art course about the body, expect to see a bit of penis.

      Chinese people do not call anybody adults, until they get married. All the way up to the age of 30 or so, they are into hello kitty dolls and such.
      Maturity as like in the US, is not the same. Spend a few months in an asian country.

    Real art is not all about pretty things, but the pretty things help get the tasteless.
  • Kaglan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0The word is that our school the models for the art classes are disproportionatley male. (I mean, in number, not that the men are out of proportion). This isn't because of the tastes of the instructor, who is professional about such things, but simply because it is a lot easier to find guys who will take off their clothes in public than it is to find women who will take off their clothes in public.

While his body is nasty, I applaud his direction into which way people should look. People who joke about this are fine, but at least don't fail to see what it's really about. Any body heard of John Waters, and his movie Pink Flamingo? Talk about shock art during those times, he makes this guy look weak!
