- TenebrousX, on 10/12/2007, -3/+47your story isn't going to pull a Gandalf, either
- Gryfft, on 10/12/2007, -7/+50SOYLENT GREEN IS PEOPLE!!!!
- navster15, on 10/12/2007, -3/+42My guess is he told Snape to kill him. Why, I don't know, but Snape is too obvious to be a bad guy.
- JNSKnicks, on 10/12/2007, -4/+42That really shoots down all the theorists online. I really beleived that Dumbledore was going to come back in the 7th book. It also confuses me how he was killed so easily by Snape. I mean, sure he was weakened by the potion, but he still probably could have put up more of a fight... maybe he has his own horcrux (?)
- martinj88, on 10/12/2007, -3/+41THERE'S SNAKES ON THE PLANE
- bannus, on 10/12/2007, -4/+40Dumblebore knew Snape was going to kill him...that's why he died so easily.
- wilf_brim, on 10/12/2007, -1/+34Dumbledore: "I'm not dead yet!"
Rowling: "Your not fooling anyone"
Dumbledore: "I FEEL HAPPY!"
Rowling: *smack* - Shorties, on 10/12/2007, -7/+38You know I still haven't read that book. Lucky YTMND already spoiled it for me.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -4/+32it's called Harry Potter, and it's a book.
- Arkz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+25No no no, that's not how you get attention,
its BRUCE WILLIS WAS A GHOST THE WHOLE TIME!!!
And for people who didn't make the connection, he's on about The Sixth Sense - Migdilio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21Remember, Harry Potter fans:Just because he's dead doesn't mean he won't still be around!
As soon as Dumbledore died a painting of him appeared in his former study. All of the paintings in that room are "living" recreations of wizards who have passed on, so expect some beyond-the-grave Dumbledore wisdom in the final installment. - KevinJ, on 10/12/2007, -5/+25That doesnt mean he cant pull a Jesus and come back to life!
- Shorties, on 10/12/2007, -9/+28You know I never liked that Jesus story, it was too predictable.
Those writers need to learn spontaneity, now if all of a sudden Joseph had come out and told Jesus he was Jesus' father (Darth Vader Style) That would of been a killer twist. - SonnyW, on 10/12/2007, -4/+22Hmm, the whole god-is-the-father thing turned out to be the best pregnancy excuse in history though. Billions of people still believe it.
- ziemkowski, on 10/12/2007, -10/+28It's now over a year. Should we wait until the copyright expires for you to read it?
If you wait a year, it's your own fault, not anybody else's, if any of it gets spoiled for you. If that actually mattered to you, you would have read it. - AZTriGuy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18He's pining for the fjords!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17Trillions of Harry Potter fans.
- LCmidas, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17Ya know, I kinda doubt that her wallet's gonna be hurting any by this, considering the books are bestsellers months before release... ;)
- dcipjr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14I was also hoping against hope that Dumbledore wasn't really dead. He is one of the series' most interesting and complex characters, and always was my personal favorite. "Pull a Gandalf" is the perfect description for what I wanted him to do.
Now I'm just hoping that book 7 will be able to explain why he died and add meaning to the events at the end of HBP. I want an explanation for why things happened the way they did.
I can't wait for the next book. Unfortunately, J.K. hasn't even settled on a name for it -- so it's probably going to be a while. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17THE BOAT SINKS AT THE END.
- crazyman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Well that just seems niave. Why not read the books? Also, there are no Admins on digg. There are user based reports on stories.
- lil_isie, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15IT'S HIS SLED!
- LordLucless, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13@JNSKnicks: Dumbledore wouldn't have his own horcrux, not unless you want to really go down the conspiracy road. He banned the subject from Hogwarts, and remember his comments about death to Harry at the end of the Philosophers Stone? And his comments to Voldemort about there being things worse than dead?
@positron: Voldemort never died, he said so himself. He was weakened, driven out of his body, but he has never died. Some wizards believed he had, but they were wrong. - FatNerd, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13He's not dead, he's resting.
- elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13NOOOOO! YOU BITCH!!!
- Vouksh, on 10/12/2007, -11/+21That'd be great...
Joseph: "Jesus, *I* am your father!"
Jesus: "NOOOOOOOOOOOO... wait, I already knew that"
Joseph: "Sh*t"
That would put a real spinner on the bible *rolls eyes* - MOJIRA, on 05/17/2008, -0/+10Dumbledore died willingly by Snape's hands in a joint effort by the two to save Draco from Voldemort.
- Brak710101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10"Rowling was brought on stage (again to standing ovation) by Kathy Bates, who proclaimed that the author took kids to places "Google does not go," describing the effect Rowling's books have had in shaping an entire generation of digital-age kids."

Blasphemy! Google knows all. - sixlocal, on 10/12/2007, -7/+16Bruce Willis was a ghost the whole time
- positron, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14@mozzer
That explains why Voldemort hasn't been resurrected multiple times then. /roll eyes - AZTriGuy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12Because dupes happen, live with it and quit whining.
- Hermitwise, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10 I bet what happened was he did the same thing that Harry's mom did to save his life, you know that unconditional love destroys evil bit. So it'll turn out that Dumbledore put the whammy back on Harry so he can kill What's his face again. Don't judge me, I was 13 when the first book came out.
- cuposmuck, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9did u guys READ the books....
1)Snape is good...
2)Dumbledore is dead...
WHY?
Voldemorts weakness are
1) Love.. in book 1+
2) Death... will happen book 7 hints given IN BOOK 1 AND THEN IN BOOK 5+ REREAD THEM NOW!
BOOK 1; "to the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure."
BOOK 5: “There is nothing worse than death, Dumbledore!” snarled Voldemort.
“You are quite wrong,” said Dumbledore . . . . “Indeed, your failure to understand that there are things much worse than death has always been your greatest weakness.”
The most viable result at the end of book 7.. is that Snape will destroy the last horcrux in full view of Voldemort while harry delivers a fatal blow inside Voldemorts soul/mind..
There was so much evidence of this that i cant believe other readers don't get it...
things like why was Dumbledore an accomplished legilimens fooled by someone under the Imperius Curse. and why didn't Snape kill potter when he had the chance!
And for the next book things like; Why are Harry's mums eyes important? The eyes are need for which magic skill? Harry's parents had a skill which is more dangerous for Voldemort than longbottoms auror parents? come on people do u really need to be hit over the head with this.. - DarthTurducken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Damn muggles.
- LadyBatChic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Rowling is allowed to kill her characters. I know that this seems a bit rough for those in audience who might believe that a children's fantasy book series should not dare to cross this line. But I also think it has been constructive that Harry Potter fans have been creating their own theories as to whether Dumbledore could have been truly dead . . . or not.
Note: from this same article:
Stephen King, responding to a question about what he is afraid of, said: "When I picked up the Harry Potter books, I was surprised at the depth of the Death-Eaters." To which Rowling replied tauntingly: "I scared Stephen King." - SonnyW, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Spoiler, maybe?
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7there's nothing wrong with talking about a book and theorizing, for a lot of people that's a fun hobby. i don't do it, but i don't think there is anything wrong with the practice.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8DAMMIT, Dumbledore, you were my hero.. :'(
- Unbathed, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Read the book, jackass.
- mozzer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Rowling has stated many times that dead stays dead in her books. No magic can bring them back to life. Sadly, Dumbledore isn't coming back, at least in the flesh.
- FatNerd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I would assume so as not to distract the reader from the point of the story, that its not about Dumble. She just wants to say, 'he'd dead, get over it, appriciate the rest of the story for what it is'.
- RPharazon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I don't want to go on the cart!
- metacoola, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8I dont think the theories will ever stop, some people still think Nintendo On is real...
- Ubermensch423, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8RAY FINKLE IS LOIS EINHORN
- jeffguillaume, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"Dumbledore is definitely dead" is the exact quote. I was there.
- kampfy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7How can I NOT mod this comment up?
- mozzer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5arrrrggghhhhhh, you're stirring up the fanboy inside me!!
Cannot. Wait. For Book 7!!!!
mod up! - SonnyW, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Maybe this story got more attention because the title seems shocking, considering the guy playing Dumbledore in the first movies died.
"Dumbledore "Definitely" Dead, Says Rowling" gets a whole new meaning that way. -
