Marvel issues press releases parsing events that happen inside the comics? wtf? - sumskater41, on 10/12/2007, -4/+37god, heroines are hot.

I cried =[ - Shawnosaurus, on 10/12/2007, -5/+24Why did you come to the article if you don't care? The point of digg and similar sites is to read and contribute to the news you are interested in. You fail social networking 101.
- Cowtastic, on 10/12/2007, -4/+23Yeah, those two should totally stop talking and start making out, but that's just my opinion.
- mandarin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18You can bring him back alive by:
Cloning
Time Travel
Zombie superhero
Alien offspring
Robot superhero - iHeartMoz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17Yes, he is dead. New Avengers #28 touches on that
*SPOILER*
What Ms. Maid said was only an attempt to lure the New Avengers to Ryker's in a trap, where a fake Captain America was. - jhnshft, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14@ halleyscomet
Yes, but they were all lame. Remember the guy that later became US Agent (John Walker aka Jack Daniels). Man, that was terrible. Steve Rogers is Captain America. One of the defining things about Cap was that he wanted to fight for America but was denied because he wasn't fit enough. This led him to take a chance on the Super Soldier experiment. He was the little guy that stood up for what he believed in and it is that kind of conviction that makes Captain America a hero, and why people on Digg or any other site care. Anyone else is just a guy in a costume. - Jabby81, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17Who DIDNT see this coming? The same old crap they did with Superman. Just another plot to sell a sagging comic market.

New Avengers #28 throws it back up into the air. - silvercatmon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12 mandarin "You can bring him back alive by:

You forgot the "It was a Skrull! Now here's the Real Captain America!" - Squidly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10"What AM I? A super soldier serum expert? He's not dead!
Oh and yes, they're real. And they're *spectacularl*" - KibibyteBrain, on 10/12/2007, -6/+15OBJECTION!!! This is impossible. Whose shield is on Stephen Colbert's set then? Captain America must be dead.
- RedStateRetard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Where are they keeping all these clones? The Venture Compound?
- TheJeffer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Nevertheless, while he might still "die" (of course they'll never kill him off permanently... not anytime soon anyway), he's not dead yet!
- Arcan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Technically, this wouldn't have to be a retcon.
(BEWARE as I reveal my true geek colors)
A retcon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Retcon) means they would have to revise history. I don't think Marvel ever intended to actually kill off Captain America. If the murder was planned ruse (what kind of sniper doesn't aim for the head?), then this conversation doesn't actually change any pre-established fact, it just reveals that the over-hyped surprise is what most everyone thought it was in the first place.
Then again, I haven't kept up with comics for a long time, so I don't know if Ms. Marvel (impossibly-endowed blond) has any idea what she's talking about - nonzzero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8And Civil War - The Confession features Captain America's dead body. I think he's dead.
- bigtizzle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8You just got confused a bit and got American Maid from The Tick in your head.
Capt. America + Ms. Marvel + American Maid = Ms. Maid. It's science. . . - DaveCT, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9and Tupac is alive too.
- Matri, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8@RedStateRetard
Brace yourself: Clark Kent, is Superman.
/sarcasm - nonzzero, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9@greekgoat91:
He probably has a thing for maids. Freudian slip! - amoirae, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Speculators are the leeches that caused the industry crash in the 1990s. As far as I am concerned, speculators are scum. I hope the print run on the book was so high that your "investment" is worthless, euphemizeme.
- RedStateRetard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7People just stare at her rack, not her face.
Without going back and looking:
"what color is Ms. Marvel's eyes?" Anyone? - gkzhang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7There has been too much press for Rogers to not actually be dead.
Colbert gets the Captain America shield, books like Fallen Son: Death of Captain America.
Marvel and Joe Quesada are smart enough not to just put it out there like this and just retcon it.
Either way, perhaps Tony Stark is just feeding Ms. Marvel ***** so she can lure Spider-Woman into a trap, or Mr. Marvel is herself leading Spider-Woman into a trap.
Steve Rogers is dead. - nerfherderguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6LOL, not just Superman, don’t forget Flash, Professor X, Magneto, Colossus, Phoenix
Reed Richards, The Thing, Dr. Doom, Electra, Aunt May, Psylocke, Cyclops, Havok, Nick Fury… the list goes on...
Anyone see a trend? Trust me, he’ll be back. - Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Captain America has joined the ranks of other dead superheroes, like Superman! Oh, wait...
- NewPunk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Buried for Inaccurate!
Ms. Marvel lies to Spider-Woman in order to get Spider-Woman to turn herself in.
Proof that Captain America is (very) dead lays at the end of this issue (Civil War: The Initiative), also in Civil War: The Confession and in New Avengers #28.
"Spoilers***************************************
At the end of CW: The Initiative, Iron Man tells Ms. Marvel "You shouldn't have done that." most people will deduce that he is talking about how Ms. Marvel lied to Spider-Woman about Cap still being alive.
In Civil War: The Confession, Iron Man describes why he chose to follow the government on the Superhero Registration Act. He also talks about how badly he feels now that the dust is settling... as he confesses all these things, he cries as he is talking to the dead body of Captain America laying on a table in front of him.
In New Avengers #28, Spider-Woman rejoins the New Avengers in Dr. Stranges' house and tells everyone that Ms. Marvel told her that Cap is still alive. Dr. Strange goes out of body to visit the Raft and discovers what appears to be Captain America alive on life support. The New Avengers head over to the Raft, break their way in and get to the body to discover it was someone else. Iron Man suddenly appears, and the New Avengers realize it was actually a trap.

I know my *****. Captain America is still dead for now! - WickedDrag0oN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6WHAT the ***** is with the spoilers on digg lately... Some people need to realize we cant all go out and buy these comics right away!
- iHeartMoz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Maid...? Wow. I must have a thing for maids that I didn't know about.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Didn't that same release talk about his autopsy? Unless your name is Claire Bennett, you don't come back from an autopsy...
...yes I know, unless it's an autopsy in the marvel universe. But this incarnation of Cap seems to be no-we-really-mean-it-this-time dead. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Clark Kent hides behind eyeglasses. Compared to that she's a freakin master of disguise.
- ultraelite, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7did anyone actually read the comic
SPOILERS
Dr. Strange is like yeah he's alive so a bunch a people try to visit him Wolverine is like it's not him and then everyone is like oh *****
IT'S A TRAP
ironman is a douche - Hellmark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Guys, Marvel release a press release about this exact conversation, saying that Cap is indeed dead. Could it be that some of the other superheroes are refusing that he is dead, just as people in real life are doing?
- coltrane68, on 10/12/2007, -7/+12I hope Ms. Marvel is right - I couldn't deal with Cap's death.
- mandarin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Hahahaha seriously?
Boy DC did a number on everyone coming out with 4 Supermen comic books that everyone had to buy then brought him back alive with nothing more than a longer haircut... - brooklahn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Cloning seems like a logical next step... After all, Stark and Richards have been working on cloning projects. That was where they got the haywire "Thor" that killed Goliath.
- Matri, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Huh, wha? Eyes?
- jhnshft, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I'm a big fan of time travel to save Cap. They could time travel back to right after he is unfrozen, so he could be "young" again. Either that or alternate dimension Cap.
- DJNephilim, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Dugg back down for using two dead horses to beat another dead horse.
- lordsteve, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@linux
. . . pretty sure that was the point - VeganG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Well, duh. Marvel is the one who sent out press releases and everything.
- Matri, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Some people need to realize it was Marvel themselves who announced the spoiler to the whole world, right before the comic was sold.
- uripedes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This is not proof that Captain America is not dead. Ms. Marvel is lying to spider-woman so that she can draw her out and arrest her. This conversation will be something that will come to fruition later in the run of the new spider-woman series.

read the bottom of this site and you will see Joe Quesada explaining what is going on in this page. - euphemizeme, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Aren't you supposed to put the SPOILER warning before the actual spoiler?
- devindotcom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Amen. He's not dead. He didn't get the send-off he would have gotten if he was REALLY dead. There would have been a whole death of cap storyline.
- sarcasmo2k5, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4He's definitely dead. You would know this if YOU read all the books...
- bargash, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The latest issue of New Avengers shows that her saying that Captain America was alive was a hoax to draw in his remaining troops so they could be arrested.
