- Zarimus, on 07/17/2009, -2/+117I am so conflicted on Brad Pitt... he's a pretty-boy actor that chicks lust after so I feel I should be envious and hate him. But dammit, he comes across as a great guy and he makes good movies. He's just too darn likeable.
- meridian, on 07/17/2009, -2/+59Wired is one of the few magazines still worth buying, it's always been an enjoyable read front to back.
- wannaBdug, on 07/17/2009, -4/+49In my opinion Brad Pitt can have whatever he wants. He looks good on the cover.
- MrBogard, on 07/17/2009, -4/+46He's a good actor and seems like a good guy... but you're conflicted because he's pretty? I think there are some underlying issues here that you're not telling us about.
- deweyhewson, on 07/17/2009, -2/+29Uh, wrong.
"Truth is, with Premiere gone, there aren't many classy monthly magazine covers left for male stars of Pitt's stature. And he's already done the good ones. Tabloids like People, Us and In Touch have taken over the supermarket racks."
Pitt has standards and didn't wish to sell out to trash rags. It's a lowering of standards in print media, not a loss of popularity for Pitt. - SoCalDissident, on 07/17/2009, -1/+21Who loses more points? Bradd Pitt for chasing the cover or NPH for turning it down?
That's a very un-tyler durden thing to do. - Zarimus, on 07/17/2009, -2/+20Hmm. (Checks self) Nope, I'd still want Angelina over Brad. I wish I was bi, as Woody Allen famously stated it would double my chances for a date on Friday night.
- immatellyouwhat, on 07/17/2009, -2/+16Oh yeah, well John Mayer wears 2 bluetooths! blueteeths? teeth?.... HEY LOOK A CHICKEN!
- Forbiddendonut, on 07/17/2009, -1/+14I received it in the mail today and I just want to say I love the quote on the cover:
"Who cares if your warcraft wife is a dude-if it's good, don't check under the hood." - diggbru, on 07/17/2009, -0/+10Brad Pitt is FORTY FIVE?!
- spectagirl365, on 07/18/2009, -0/+8Even Brad Pitt looks like a tool with a bluetooth.
- AmyVernon, on 07/17/2009, -19/+26Oh, poor Brad Pitt, couldn't find anyone to put him on the cover. Wow. The times they are a'changin.
- eyebits, on 07/18/2009, -0/+5Why did Neil Patrick Harris turn down the cover?
- LanEvo, on 07/17/2009, -1/+5I have to say, that is one very metrosexy man.
- IUAndar, on 07/18/2009, -1/+5You cared enough to comment in this thread.
- doubledmateo, on 07/18/2009, -0/+3This quote made me happy. I'd love to see us move away from caring so much about these actors and see the recognition go where it belongs to the talented people that create the movies and stories that we love.
"This change in star behavior is indicative of an overall sea change in Hollywood. Talking about her plans for Hollywood Life, Fuller told the NYT that celebrity is "not just about movie stars any more." As studios slash budgets, they are reevaluating what stars are worth. That measurement used to be about opening movies: you paid a major star $20 million to put audience butts in seats. All that is clearly not working any more, as robots, reboots and animated characters are selling better this summer than the likes of Eddie Murphy, Will Ferrell and Christian Bale." - mHtt, on 07/18/2009, -0/+3Two words:
Fight Club.
'nuff said. - totallyRo, on 07/17/2009, -1/+4i ***** love wired! its one of the only magazines i still subscribe to. the articles are always ***** amazing,
only complaint.. sometimes there are just too many ads. - LonesomeFighter, on 07/18/2009, -0/+3personally i wouldn't mind it, but i'm not famous yet so my chances are too slim to get it
- Dugglous, on 07/18/2009, -0/+3Double of zero is still zero....
- Worldchrisis, on 07/17/2009, -0/+2My issue came in the mail today, definitely worth the price, especially when you can get it for $10 on Amazon
- costumemaker, on 07/17/2009, -3/+5Talk about your slow news days.
- Burrito, on 07/18/2009, -0/+2Proof that no one can make those things look cool.
- DeathTrendSetta, on 07/17/2009, -1/+3I just bought this issue of Wired. Its a good read for sure. Didn't know it was such a big deal that Brad Pitt was on the cover though. Oh well.
- rompom7, on 07/18/2009, -0/+2Buried for Captain Obvious.
Dugg for musical notes. - darkfate, on 07/17/2009, -0/+2Sage advice.
- LonesomeFighter, on 07/18/2009, -1/+3well it made him cool with me, so congrats to him. then again his movies always made him cool to me so maybe i'm biased
- totallyRo, on 07/18/2009, -0/+2Yeah! always read them front to back.
You read the article from a while back about the statue in the cia headquarters that they're still trying to solve. that was fascinating. In the last issue my favorite article was about the whole facebook vs google thing, pretty good read. - DDayDawg, on 07/18/2009, -0/+2It's the only magazine I fully read. It's so well written I find myself engrossed in stories about stuff I could care less about. The stolen Indy car plans and the guys who go in to save sinking ships come to mind as some of the best stories they have put out. Just high quality stuff.
- coastiefish, on 07/18/2009, -0/+1I wouldn't have seen it otherwise.
- jonny6packer, on 07/20/2009, -0/+1I know. Reading that made me feel old.
- andyrunner, on 07/18/2009, -0/+1I got a 4 year subscription for $4 on ebay
- H3llr41s3r, on 07/17/2009, -1/+2I read "Unintelligent Design"
- sark666, on 07/18/2009, -0/+1digg him down for knowing how to put the musical notes symbols.
- Itaintrite, on 07/18/2009, -0/+1Funny how women can openly comment on how sexy they think other women are, but when men do it, the g-word and h-word are thrown around.
Brad Pitt is a good looking guy (and arguably a good actor). Married to hot wife and do charities. What's not to like? Not sure if he fits Wired's image though, but hey, whatever right? Heh. You don't buy tech mags to look at covers do you? :) - inactive, on 07/18/2009, -1/+2If you think Brad Pitt is a pretty boy actor, try checking out Babel, you might think differently afterwards.
- convergent, on 07/17/2009, -1/+2diggers and their obsession with nathan fillion...
- crossmr, on 07/18/2009, -0/+1"Meanwhile, Wired discovered the advantages of publicizing a cover--....they nabbed coverage from Perez Hilton, "Yeah..wow..that is something I'd call an advantage... we need to discuss the meaning of the word..
- CircleFusion, on 07/18/2009, -0/+1But why are you just sayin'?
- skipvt, on 07/18/2009, -0/+1That's not Brad Pitt it's Tyler Durden.
- Sanfranon5, on 07/18/2009, -0/+1No need to get catty when someone is attractive.
Not much use in trying anyway when we all know it is one thing women will always be better at.
Dugg you for being able to express your conflicted emotions so well.
And I'll grab his ass for ya next time I see him. - MikeSobe, on 07/19/2009, -0/+1Here is the article: http://www.wired.com/culture/lifestyle/magazine/17 ...
- cyrix, on 07/18/2009, -0/+1He's at least helping the less fortunate and not knocking another guy on digg.
- twoblink, on 07/18/2009, -1/+2He needs to take a shower... I've talked to so many Hollywood chicks that were so madly in love with him; but said he was known as "Mr. BO" on most sets.
- tech42er, on 07/19/2009, -0/+1Don't forget about that amazing diamond heist story!
- MeiMeiX, on 07/18/2009, -0/+0"Brad Pitt Chased Down digg submission (PIC)"
- DuneChild, on 07/20/2009, -0/+0Think Robert Redford Jr., or Paul Newman III.
- diskoh, on 07/17/2009, -2/+2I've seen this cover about a dozen times this week, and I don't follow magazines or celebrities at all. So kudos to him for the marketing job.
- GregLoire, on 07/17/2009, -7/+7What a fascinating story! Wait, no, the opposite of that.
