- CaptainAmerica1, on 05/04/2008, -1/+17The US government's revenue from taxes sets records every month. Yet, we can't bring ourselves to cut spending anywhere. If the Dems are voted into office, we'll see taxes raised exponentially along with increased spending. Unfortunately, if McCain is voted in, we'll see the same thing -- just not as bad as the Dems would like to see.
It's unbelieveable that this entire country has shifted to the left of the political spectrum. If the trend continues, we'll be a socialist nation in 10 to 20 years, maybe sooner.
The irony is that Europe shifted to the left like this in the last 10 to 20 years, but of late is starting to shift back to the right because they realize the economic and social failures of socialism. - inactive, on 05/04/2008, -1/+14Your last point is RIGHT ON. Look at the new French President. Look at the Italians new leader. There both very strong Conservatives. Hopefully it will not take us another 20 years going down the wrong road to have a turn-around....
- juankovo, on 05/04/2008, -1/+8I am fine with paying taxes ... so long as the government is fine with only doing the things which it is constitutionally allowed to do. Very little of what our government does today has anything to do with actual governance. See http://www.downsizedc.org/
- wonderchemist, on 05/05/2008, -0/+3To watch our government blow stuff up?
- drachemorder, on 05/05/2008, -1/+3Um ... I pay taxes because I don't fancy the thought of going to jail? This isn't exactly rocket science here.
- PeacefulKancer, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1Are you OK for paying for taxes, even if you are not lawfully required to do so? That is the question of my blog article.
- PeacefulKancer, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1If you think it is rocket science, you obviously have not read the law. I don't care if you are scared of the government (IRS in this case) or not. Do your homework and read about who does and who does not meet the definition of a taxpayer. Are YOU a taxpayer? If not, then why are you paying taxes?
Crash course: (not all inclusive) If you don't work for the government, then you *probably* are not a taxpayer... - inactive, on 05/05/2008, -0/+1That's hilarious!
- PeacefulKancer, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1VERY true.... yet, all the socialist in the US point and shout "Hey, look at Europe, they are all socialist and smiling!"
- Rotzooi, on 05/05/2008, -1/+2I don't like paying my taxes, only for the money to be used by poor families to get a free ride. Just deny their young children healthcare and all of a sudden they are not too handicapped to clean my toilet anymore.
- Cryptocracy, on 08/17/2008, -2/+2fair tax sucks too.

No it doesn't benefit the "rich." It empowers the voter regardless of their class, stripping power from special interest groups and lobbyist. It gives money back to those who desperately need the money. Rewards us for saving and and using our money wisely. Who stands against the fair tax those who have made their living off of keeping the poor in their current state while demonizing the successful in this country.
