I live in NZ and have never heard of Axe, but in that commercial I noticed some video that was used to promote Lynx here. The bit I noticed was the woman pole-dancing on the drain pipe. That is in a commercial that aired here, advertising Lynx body-wash. The slogan was "How dirty boys get clean"

- gudnbluts, on 11/16/2007, -0/+2Over here in New Zealand, they're using viral marketting to lie, as they don't have to conform to the legal advertising limitations of accuracy. There was a viral ad for a bar said that there was a bloke who'd lost a bet and had to buy free drinks for anyone in the bar at a certain time. It wasn't true, but it filled the bar.
The company who made the ad appeared on the news a couple of weeks ago and were quite blatant about it - admitting they were lying, And talked about another campaign they were doing that was a lie. - WolfHook, on 11/16/2007, -0/+1You can also add Lenovo's "What is Lenovo" campaign on that list. The idea was to post arbitrary stuff on YouTube and Google Video and then have "What is Lenovo" added on the end voiced over by some weirdo robot effect. It bombed, so much so that employees were asked to view the videos in their spare time and rate them to drive more traffic. Utter rubbish!

- GuyeNoir, on 11/16/2007, -0/+1I have one of their locks on my bike, but I lost the key. Apparently, I have a different model that has a slightly larger lock because when I tried the pen didn't fit. The pen cap did, but I couldn't get enough grip on it to turn and rotate the lock open.
