- merreborn, on 05/01/2009, -3/+83This probably isn't a 'shop. You can see the first digit fell off. It's the banner laying on the ground.
When they liquidate stores, they have signs like these, so they can increase the discount over time. They start at something lame like 20%, then crank it up, til they finally hit 80% on the second-to-last day, and 90% the day after.
The missus and I had a $50 Mervyn's gift card, which we totally forgot about until 2 days before the local Mervyn's shut for good. Got a bunch of stuff at 80% off the first day, and then came back the next day to find they'd dropped it to 90%. $50 goes a long way at 80 to 90% off. - DaClub, on 05/01/2009, -0/+62Nothing must go!
- borez, on 05/01/2009, -1/+61Notice the big white space in front of the 0%, a sign of instantly alterable desperation.

- inactive, on 05/01/2009, -0/+30You can also see a guy at top of the banner. Looks like he was trying to affix the number and it dropped.
- aspec, on 05/01/2009, -0/+23He is serious. And don't call him, Shirley.
- ausfahrt, on 05/01/2009, -0/+21No no thank you captain caps lock!
- diggydougie, on 05/01/2009, -2/+20Clearly this is a picture taken while the sign was being made.
- drpcken, on 05/01/2009, -0/+16Adobe made the guy drop the number on the ground?
- idavidtang, on 05/01/2009, -1/+16No, money down!

- Andrwmorph, on 05/01/2009, -4/+18THANKS CAPTAIN OBVIOUS!
- inactive, on 05/01/2009, -1/+15If you look carefully, you can see that this is a sign hung from the side of a building.
- CrazySpaniard, on 05/01/2009, -0/+12steve liked that part as well
you two should hang out - jemka, on 05/01/2009, -0/+12What gave it away? The guy on the roof with his hands hanging over the side looking at the other number laying on the ground?
- 4rp4n3t, on 05/01/2009, -0/+11Wait - if it's not a shop, why are they having a sale...?
- Paxinner, on 05/01/2009, -1/+12And inside the store you will see this.
http://fakeblog.net/2009/04/03/fake-sale-3/ - RoboRay, on 05/01/2009, -0/+11Roger, Roger.
- christoast, on 05/01/2009, -1/+10Nobody cares about your opinion.
- JasonHaley, on 05/02/2009, -0/+9Has digg become a ship?
- temporarysanity, on 05/01/2009, -0/+9Actually, nobody cares about his sexual orientation, is what you meant.
- trafficlight, on 05/01/2009, -4/+12I liked the part where the first number came off and made it look like 0% off.
- hotbert73, on 05/01/2009, -3/+11Dugg for the Classic white Chevy Truck!
- evildemonic, on 05/01/2009, -0/+7Best comment yet. Thanks!
- Richandler, on 05/01/2009, -0/+7Actually we should. Discounts for people with no money, makes a lot more sense than keeping prices high for people with no money.
- twiztidsinz, on 05/01/2009, -0/+6Why don't you have a seat right over there....
- RackAddict, on 05/01/2009, -0/+6See the guy at the top? I think he dropped a right number.
- rheaume, on 05/01/2009, -0/+6Yeah im sure the guy hanging off the rood and the giant red number crumpled on the ground, awaiting installation, has nothing to do with this fleeting moment captured on camera.
- lynx44, on 05/01/2009, -0/+5Why do you hate laughter?
- Nicoon, on 05/01/2009, -0/+4I care about neither.
- ryrocker, on 05/01/2009, -0/+4way to ***** all over my parade!
- evildemonic, on 05/01/2009, -0/+4Is your name Debi Downer, or Eeyore?
You don't realize this was meant to be humorous and not ACTUALLY an indicator of economic recovery?
(I know I posted it before, but it fit for this jackass too) - frances47, on 05/01/2009, -2/+6Surely you can't be serious.
- DrCyclops, on 05/02/2009, -0/+4What's your vector, Victor?

- lastmaster, on 05/02/2009, -0/+4Me fail english? That's unpossible!
- RackAddict, on 05/01/2009, -0/+3It's on his right... lol
- Mship, on 05/01/2009, -0/+3is that Home Depot?
- BCPneumatics, on 05/02/2009, -0/+3No worries. Recycling is good all 'round.
- idavidtang, on 05/01/2009, -1/+4why so serious?
- gizram84, on 05/30/2009, -1/+4the problem is that people like you exist. the market is based on speculation. you just spread fear and hope for the worst... i don't care what you links say.. the NYSE just had it's most productive month in 9 YEARS
- Blissfuldreamin, on 05/01/2009, -0/+3So we should love the discounts caused by the recession then?
- Philbert, on 05/01/2009, -0/+3Yeah I was thinking about how sad he looked that he dropped the number and now has to go all the way back down to get it. Someone get that guy a grappling hook.
- Books, on 05/05/2009, -0/+2Yarrrrr
- Y0tsuya, on 05/01/2009, -0/+2dude reads too much consumerist.
- dshPls, on 05/01/2009, -0/+2*****, he figured out the scheme!
- dustko, on 05/02/2009, -0/+2"spending naturally" - ie spending themselves into debt like consumeristic machines?
- scalemodlgiant, on 05/01/2009, -1/+3Perhaps, but at that point the chances of finding what you want drop significantly from day to day.
- OafBoaster, on 05/01/2009, -0/+2Except you're incorrect for the most part. The majority of those "reports" on foreclosure are misleading, and I don't think you realize that job losses lag economic demand by approximately six months. I know it's not your intention, but I'm really getting annoyed at people talking about the economy and spreading misinformation.
I don't understand the agenda of this doom and gloom outlook everyone seems to share. It's sadistic. I work for one of the largest title companies in the nation. We're hooked into a huge real estate network. The numbers aren't really that bad. We've been in the black, and OUR numbers have been very good for the past few months. We're hiring. Foreclosures and low home sales always were isolated to a few counties in specific states. This trend is correcting.
I'm not saying everything's 100%, but for the most part the corrections have been made. Also if you're a contrary trader, you've done fantastic. Pretty much RIGHT when people start saying we're doomed(which you're still doing) and everything's going to hell in a hand basket, the market bottomed. -
