- mikebeezey, on 06/16/2009, -0/+5Alright diggers do you see what's at stake now. Your virginity is no longer a personal issue. In order to insure our generations social security payments we need to create a large base of workers to pay into the system. So hurry, go out side and have rampant unprotected sex, your retirement depends on it.
- ShrikeDeCil, on 06/16/2009, -1/+6It is worth noting that the graphics around the section about what people pay in at various salaries could use another piece. The 'pay in' is capped, but the -pay-out- is capped at a much lower level. The rate of return is quite progressive. And then it is taxed.
- Bartboy919, on 06/16/2009, -0/+3Not if Science has anything to say about it!
- StigNordas, on 06/16/2009, -3/+5I wish there were a way to 'opt-out' of it. Not only are we contributing to a system that's headed for demise, but we have to stuff our own mattresses at the same time.
- okayokayokay, on 06/17/2009, -0/+2That was a lot of scrolling to learn that I'm still *****.
- DahRecords, on 06/16/2009, -0/+2Just great, another money problem to worry about.
- ethanator1088, on 06/17/2009, -0/+2All I can say is I hope I have something to show for all the money I put into it.
- LobsterOctober, on 06/17/2009, -0/+1Just another notch on the Bush family belt.
- mattnyc99, on 06/16/2009, -4/+5makes me wanna talk to my accountant -- and the friggin bush administration
- Husky217, on 06/17/2009, -1/+2Ponzi scheme.
- lovemorgul, on 06/16/2009, -3/+3Not too bad a budget but I would have liked to have seen an increase in the tax on cigarettes and alcohol to raise more revenue and discourage smoking and drinking. Apart from the increase tax due to inflation I don't think there has a significant increase for a while
- inactive, on 06/16/2009, -2/+2Thank you Obama!
- jmritchie, on 11/10/2009, -1/+1Finally, a straight to the f*cking point graphic about SS.
- TSCheredar, on 06/17/2009, -1/+1So basically I'll see none of the money that I'm paying out now. I wasn't really counting on it anyways.
- NoLibertarians, on 06/16/2009, -5/+4Social Security is here to stay, period
- NoLibertarians, on 06/16/2009, -6/+51,000% correct
- PeterODactyl, on 06/16/2009, -3/+2Ha! I'll be dead by then.
- OnAsideNote, on 06/17/2009, -1/+0I don't think I should be forced to pay into this system that I will never benefit from.
- Insightful, on 06/16/2009, -7/+3I believe this is mostly scare mongering.
Every single modern President since carter has warned that Social Security will be insolvent soon unless we take action. Guess what, we always took action. Now some President is better than others **cough** Bush **cough** but the reality is that no President and no lawmaker want SS to fail on their watch. This is not to say we should not fix it but to say the sky is falling now would be a stretch.
