- thegrantman, on 04/27/2009, -6/+61This is just the tip of the iceberg. Time to audit the fed. Not by the government but by an independent agency hired by we the people.

Does watching the news answer this question for you?
It does for me! - inactive, on 04/27/2009, -5/+49You don't need to be a lawyer to understand that pressuring the CEO of Bank of America not to release pertinent information to his stockholders is securities fraud. That is a crime.
- defendliberty, on 04/28/2009, -3/+39I DARE everyone to start caring and doing something about it.
- Unreal411, on 04/27/2009, -8/+41We are *****
- faskippy, on 04/28/2009, -5/+35I DARE anyone to disprove this. Anyone. Come on. I'm waiting.
- GovernmentSp00k, on 04/28/2009, -3/+31News? You mean the 4th estate propaganda wing of the occupied US government, controlled "news" corpocracy...The mainstream "news" media will report what Feds want you to believe. As long as the story fits the plan. While the deliberate, systemic dumbing-down of America continues.
Turn of the TV for a few months, then turn it back on.
The lack of continuity allows one to see how much *****
'they are trying to get us to accept through slow brainwashing.. - Doxocopa, on 04/28/2009, -3/+30And the question.... only Bloomberg sees this? - What about P. Krugman and other renowned economists? - and Mr. Obama himself? ... I’ll stop here.
- Doubledown, on 04/28/2009, -7/+33Anyone who questions the motive of the Tax Day Tea Party should read this article
- Rugrash, on 04/28/2009, -3/+28It's not just the US under the bank's thumb its the whole world. The largest transfer of wealth in human history has occurred and they still won't say where the trillions went and we're stuck with the bill.
- inactive, on 04/28/2009, -5/+28What is described in the article is by no means the free market.
That's the problem. - eastwood24, on 04/28/2009, -1/+23Damn it feels good to be a banksta!
- GrodyChamp, on 04/28/2009, -3/+24Pay no attention people. Remember there's 40 people in the US with bird flu, none of which have died yet. PANDEMIC! PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE GOVERNMENT ***** US.
- tgc1, on 04/28/2009, -6/+26This fraud has been going on since 1913... where the hell have you been?
- anarchist101, on 04/28/2009, -2/+21Yes, I agree with you.
I very rarely watch television at all. I usually get most all of my news from online sources. The only things I watch are History, Discover, and such usually. I am a science, history and documentary fan, and believe me there is precious little of even those to watch. But I do like to turn on the news every week or two to see what is being said by the MSM.
It is truly shocking the amount of blatant propaganda and outright distortion of events which goes on in many so called "news" shows nowadays. I do not need anyone's "spin" on the news. I just need a recitation of facts and events, and I am more than capable of drawing my own conclusions.
I mean, how could any American news source actually claim or imply that torture of anyone by our government is ever justified, or that it could ever be right for the government to violate the Constitution, or to take away the inalienable rights of it's citizens in order to "protect" them?
This is not news or political opinion! This is madness!!! - jsffive, on 04/28/2009, -2/+20What the hell would you know about free markets? Unless you're over 96 years old, YOU'VE NEVER LIVED IN A FREE MARKET!
- inactive, on 04/28/2009, -4/+22Ah, so now you're a lawyer who uses bad grammar yet feel vindicated for spouting your typical *****? If you wish to be a threat and garner support, at least present yourself as someone capable of a rational discussion. Your constant posts indicating your lack of intelligence really does nothing for you.
- Doubledown, on 04/28/2009, -1/+18If the principles are strong enough, it should not matter who promotes it.
Remember that you cannot take O'Reily, or Beck, or Maddow, or Obertard seriously because they are opinion people. They will spread their opinion and you can agree to disagree if you want. But do not give up your principles because of how the media (both right and left) treats things. - inactive, on 04/28/2009, -3/+19"I like breathing, everyone should do it."
-Glen Beck - L8blumR, on 04/28/2009, -1/+17Our <ridiculously expensive> tv bit the big one last Christmas...it's amazing how your paradigm shifts when you get almost all your new information from the internet. I tried to look at BOTH PARTIES, but after a while they both start looking the SAME, except a few inflammatory issues. Then you start to realize -- we're a country of lemmings!
True free thinkers are discredited by media, and/or discretely shut down by gov't/big corp. Fortunately, internet has freed the tyranny of information control by big media/gov't/corp.
Unfortunately, most Americans have thoroughly lost that spirit of freedom that founded our once proud country. Content to give up freedoms for the gov'ts brand of security.
When you speak out about your observations, you're labeled - something - usually both vile and completely false.
It's awakened us, and we are developing an exit strategy (if there really is such a thing). This isn't just the US that's part of the ONE WORLD society; the US was just the last largely successful bastion of freedom. - Juice7, on 04/28/2009, -1/+16Where are all the Obama supporters now? Do you actually think he's been fighting the people that are ruining our country? No, he hires them into his cabinet.
- inactive, on 04/28/2009, -3/+17They are all doing what ever they can to prolong the charade the dems, the repubs the rich elite, the banks they are all on board. The laws are only for the poor folks. So in the mean time go fight for your country so the elitist can keep status quote while stepping on your necks.
- anarchist101, on 04/28/2009, -0/+13Yes.
Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain please. - kemp34, on 04/28/2009, -0/+13So in your world, government officials telling large institutions what to do, while giving them hundreds of billions in coerced taxpayer wealth is free market?!
Boy oh boy. - niradg, on 04/28/2009, -1/+14Fire Geithner and replace him with Elizabeth Warren!
And BTW, there's a better, much longer profile of Geithner in yesterday's NYT - anarchist101, on 04/28/2009, -0/+12Well said.
I salute you both.
People need to reach out, contact their local and state representatives and demand justice and accountability in federal government.
They must answer to us, the people of this country, or expose to all the fraud and farce it has become and then declare to us who their real masters are, so that we may openly acknowledge our enemy. - inactive, on 04/28/2009, -2/+14What administration? A McCain Administration? Surely you jest. That would have been jumping into the fire with a can of gas. However, Obama lost my full support the very minute he appointed Gaithner. That moment it was business as usual. A Wall St. outsider is required to set this mess straight.
- eleete, on 04/28/2009, -4/+16Ron Paul wants exactly what you called for. Why concentrate on that and waste time actually listening to what he has to say when the teabag jokes come so easily.
- AmnesiacJack, on 04/28/2009, -0/+12I was out there protesting the Fed that day, where was every one else?
- PhantomRogue, on 04/28/2009, -0/+11@MWeather... No, its the same as a bookie... strongly suggesting that the player who owes them thousands to miss a shot or two. It's called coercion http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coercion
- mah2cent, on 04/28/2009, -2/+13The author completely misses the point. The major problem is not whether or not they all lied, I believe that is a given. What the main problem is is the illusion that there are all of these banks and other enterprises in the US that are deeded "to big to fail". If that is true what happend to Lehman? The real story is that this concept of "to big to fail" is a big lie. The best overall solution to the whole issue is there should never be any bailout for any one. What really happened, and the issue raised in this article is meant as a blind, is Bernanke, Paulson, Geithner, et al are pals of the "banking/financial/ companies. And the whole bailout was/is a smokescreen for pals. Is it any wonder that the biggest contributor to Obama and other politicians was Goldman Sacks? The simple and best plan is NO BAILOUTS, EVER, FOR ANYONE. And since the Fed and the fractional-reserve banking system coupled with the treasury department have conspired to print money out of thin air, which benefits first receivers and the expense of the rest. It is a giant ponzi scheme of over 10 Trillion dollars that will be responsible for raising prices of almost everything including your taxes, while reducing your overall financial wellbeing and your personal liberty. All of the finagling is nothing more than government mandated theft of the American people and its economy. We should end the Fed and the IRS and repeal the 16 amendment. And another missed statement was the omission of Ron Paul who has fought vigorisly against all of this intervention by the government.
- govsucks, on 04/28/2009, -0/+11Government officials can always be bought and paid for, thats EXACTLY the reason their power should be LIMITED! Then WE get to make the choices, wall street and the banks would have failed and we wouldn't be sticking our children with the bill. I mean really, Bush, Obama, what kind of MEN stick their children and grandchildren with their mistakes and debt. What a bunch of ***** cowards that won't face up to their own problems.
- faskippy, on 04/28/2009, -4/+14And just how do YOU feel about what he's doing? Stop hiding behind your ***** avatar, and come out and say how you really feel about having your head up their ass. You're so ***** crooked, you could snag lightening.
- iDiggr, on 04/28/2009, -0/+9Smartest ***** comment in this entire thread. Thank you, GrodyChamp. Anyone digging you down can shampoo my crotch.
- katorga, on 04/28/2009, -3/+11This the the problem with steeply progressive taxes...the government is so dependent on the top 5% that they cannot be allowed to fail. So the wealthy lose half their riches in 2008, and the government expropriates several trillion from the general population to make them rich again. Did Bush do anything to help those impacted by the collapse...NO. Has Obama done anything to help those impacted by the collapse...NO.
- CoD4, on 04/28/2009, -7/+15Maybe you should've voted for an administration that would've done that
- faskippy, on 04/28/2009, -1/+9Off licking their wounds...
- LouisCipher777, on 04/28/2009, -2/+9then do somthing about it or stop abusing the caps lock key
- faskippy, on 04/28/2009, -0/+7Yeah, it's more likely that someone would just come out and say they committed this out of the blue. Riiiiight.
- icehawk219, on 04/28/2009, -0/+7The banks have OWNED this country since the inception of the Fed in 1913 (and remember, the Fed is a privately owned and operated corporation, it is NOT part of the government). That's plain and simple fact. The bankers were given complete control of this entire countries money supply and through that, complete control of the entire country. The only way out is to end the Fed, plain and simple. Ron Paul's at least trying, with HR 1207, which would require a full audit of the Fed. A full audit won't fix the problems by it's self but it's at least a good step in the right direction.
- faskippy, on 04/28/2009, -1/+8Oh, didn't know you were looking for the complete list of who should be prosecuted. You can make your own, simply by pulling up a list of everyone involved in the bailout transaction, as well as who voted for it. Simple enough???
- jsffive, on 04/28/2009, -0/+7"Equities have always and will always be a gamble. You bet on the strength of a company without having all of the information (you never can), and hope your research led you to the right decision."
Sure... but isn't there an implicit understanding that there's supposed to be an even and fair playing field amongst the investors?
Using your logic, the government can lie to us ANY time they deem it necessary.
More importantly, now that the investors KNOW with certainty, that the government will pull these kinds of tricks, why would ANY of them start investing again? Do YOU like investing in a market where the primary players can simply LIE about things?
If this was a violation of securities laws, and they AREN'T going to do anything about it, then WHY exactly, do we have the SEC in the first place? - inactive, on 04/28/2009, -3/+10locdogg is right, citizen782... I hear Glenn Beck AND O'Reilly endorse breathing.
I guess you can't support that, huh? - Unreal030, on 04/28/2009, -0/+7"Extremism in the defense of liberty Is no vice...and moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue."
-Barry Goldwater
One of the last decent Presidential Candidates in U.S. history. We did a pretty good job not voting them in back then too.....
Please correct me if I am wrong, but I very rarely heard the word Constitution come out of the mouth of either one of the main candidates this last election. I would think that would be a big help in the selection process, since it is the supreme law of the land and has been regularly raped by the people in Washington. - ramilehti, on 04/28/2009, -0/+6How do you know a politician is lying?
His lips are moving. - eleete, on 04/28/2009, -2/+8So its a crime and Paulson should be indicted, what about Geithner, you conveniently left him out.
- skellener, on 04/28/2009, -3/+9Geithner is mentioned only once in the article. It's more about Bernanke and Paulson's lawlessness. Inaccurate description.
- faskippy, on 04/28/2009, -1/+7*****. When you lie to get taxpayer dollars, you are committing fraud against those taxpayers, and need to be checked, yes prosecuted. If it hadn't been for fraud, none of this ***** would be taking place.
- defendliberty, on 04/28/2009, -3/+9If someone were to do this, others would probably come out of the woodwork. I'm just saying that things could get messy. If it results in 300 million citizens living under the protection of the constitution, perhaps it wouldn't be such a bad thing.
