- dracostimpy, on 07/07/2008, -10/+63Fox News... the Scientology of journalism!
- inactive, on 07/07/2008, -6/+39 I guess Digg must drive Faux news insane then.
- mithrasinvictus, on 07/07/2008, -3/+33I'd bet they are photoshopping digg to look like myspace right now.
- jstohler, on 07/07/2008, -8/+34Why hasn't the media called Fox News on this ***** behavior in the past?
- mithrasinvictus, on 07/07/2008, -3/+24Did you even RTFA?
"In a technique familiar to students of vintage German propaganda, his ears were pulled out, his teeth splayed apart, his forehead lowered and his nose was widened and enlarged in a way that made him look more like Fagin than the guy I work with."
http://mediamatters.org/items/200807020002 - TheSwashbuckler, on 07/07/2008, -6/+26They aren't a news channel, they're the propaganda arm of the Republican Party...
- mithrasinvictus, on 07/07/2008, -4/+22"state openly what their opinion is"? Is that what they meant by "fair and balanced"?
Why should a judge even attempt to deliver a fair judgment? They should just get to rule however they feel. At least judge Judy makes no secret of her opinions, doesn't that make her a better judge?
Why even bother eating health food, you'll ingest some bad stuff no matter how hard you try, might as well stick with mcDonalds, right? - charmaniac, on 07/07/2008, -7/+25We only have ourselves to blame. Fox News is still the #1 rated cable news program. However, It looks like Rupert Murdoch has lost his touch. The Fox Business network has been a complete failure.
All of the news organizations have been pathetic the last decade, essentially rubber stamping the Iraq war when Saddam had NOTHING to do with terrorism.
He said, she said ***** stories have driven the media into the ground. Now, they are going out of business right and left because they traded their long term credibility (a news organizations most valuable asset) for short term profits. They all get what they deserve. - Cuchanu, on 07/07/2008, -7/+22The people that watch Fox "news" don't care about this, if they did they would stopped watching a long time ago. You only have to watch for a few minutes to see it in action.
But it could explain why their ratings have plateaued. - wendelgee2, on 07/07/2008, -2/+17head...buried...up your own ass.
- armoreddillo, on 07/07/2008, -5/+19It's interesting to me, but not surprising, that throughout the article, Rupert Murdoch wasn't mentioned once.
- inactive, on 07/07/2008, -6/+19I don't even give a ***** anymore. I used to have a digg account and I'd spend 20 hours per day on here talking about what's right, what's wrong and trying to figure out why the people just can't see the difference. At this point, the powers that be can have this ***** country...the worthless dollar (which they've helped to make worthless for a reason), the non-existant insurance coverage that the middle class have, the outrageously expensive gasoline, the failing infrastructure, the endless, continual wars, the recessed economy, the rising unemployment figures, the fact that people defend the unemployment figures even though that for every ***** job lost, any job created pays about half as much as the other job, the fact that our education system can't seem to teach kids ANYTHING at this point and the fact that nobody seems to mind that kids 'speek n text lyke this r u listnin to ME/ ;•(. What a ***** joke this world has become, specifically this country.
Fox News? Most likely the very beginnings of the anti-christ but again, who the ***** cares at this point? We know what they do, we know their game but we also know that Americans lap it up like it's the manna of life itself. So ***** it.
You guys can have it all...I'm done defending the people in this country who prove every day to me that they more than deserve exactly what they've received and what they will eventually get when the whole game plays out.
Such a hoax. - armoreddillo, on 07/07/2008, -1/+12Cause in one way or another most of the money is at the top of this pile of *****.
- bmac12, on 07/08/2008, -2/+8Altered photos: http://mediamatters.org/items/200807020002
The link is already there within the article, but for those didn't realize it (like me at first), there you have it. - WSPanic201, on 07/07/2008, -5/+11Shut up! I said SHUT UP! (looks off camera) OK OK CUT HIS MIC. CUT HIS MIC! Then after they cut his/her microphone, Relentless jab after relentless jab.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIVnwYGU9Qo - enri, on 07/08/2008, -0/+5No one has meaningful discussions on the internet (especially on Digg). People are attracted to sites/articles that reinforce their existing opinions. We make "hit-and-run" comments then we're onto the next stimulus.
If you want to make a difference please go outside and do something positive in your community. Politely share your opinions with others and your good deeds will encourage others to consider what you've discussed with them. - richard2, on 07/08/2008, -0/+4I have a far better idea: read the article which caused the recent hostility between Fox News and the New York Times (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/28/arts/television/ ... and decide for yourself whether Fox New's actions were justified.
Although, I don't think you will, Mitch, because you're afraid of digesting anything which could potentially conflict with your distorted view of the world. - rearlgrant, on 07/07/2008, -3/+7ROTFLMAO
Best thing I've read in the past two days! This comment deserves front page.
Thank you! - JBmtk, on 07/08/2008, -0/+4I agree with enri and zebco. You can digg up stories and write on your blogs..but the outside people only see actions and not your words hidden away on the internet on some website. The infastructure if failing because it is a trait of mankind. Most people, given the oppurtunity of money and power, will do whatever it takes which is to lie, cheat, and hurt (politics, in a nutshell).
I try to stay away from politics because you cannot win and it only makes me mad and depressed. A clear sign of a countries deterioration is its education system..which America is failing HORRIBLY at. The next generation of kids will become even more ignorant and will easily succumb to tactics that FOX news employs. I think this will happen sooner than everyone thinks....a looming slippery-slope predicament. - la7dfa, on 07/07/2008, -7/+11Strange how biased FOX can be and still call themselves fair and balanced...
Strange how the US use torture while other countries not even using the same methods are called terrorists and rag tag armies...
Dressing someone up in white or blue uniforms does not mean they can use water boarding on enemies and get away with it - or?
I hope G.W. Bush 3 wont get elected. We have had enough nasty mix of religion & wars for a while now. - BillDoE, on 07/08/2008, -0/+4Delete your www.nytimes.com cookies and it will let you in. I got tired of bugmenot not working.
- crazy0, on 07/08/2008, -0/+4I feel you man, you cant save everyone....ignorance will not be an excuse I assure you....worry about yourself and those in your sphere of influence....fack everyone else seriously
- peligro666, on 07/07/2008, -7/+10"Fair and Balanced" (tm) only applies if you're a Republican. Still fun to watch Bill-O wave his fist and quote 'declining readership' statistics at his viewers.
- KaiserArny, on 07/08/2008, -2/+5OC73...buried
- YodaJones, on 07/08/2008, -3/+6Fox News: More impotent lying ***** per hour than any other news network.
- DanMiller, on 07/08/2008, -0/+33 people that you know of. We practice rendition, which gives the appearance of our hands being clean. Somehow I think that if you were one of the people subjected to these practices you might have a problem with it.
Also, I would be interested if you could give some examples as blatant as the many, many, many Fox News blunders. "Terrorist Fist Bump"? Altering the faces of people who don't like your organization? Perhaps you should take a long look and recognize the difference between editorial and blatant political sabotage at the hands of a new organization feigning truth and balance. - koalagirl, on 07/07/2008, -7/+10Thanks for the story...sadly none of it is surprising.

Subject: I love biased news too!
Why does your whole corporation gargle out biased *****?
Regards,
Educated People - pardonmedoug, on 07/08/2008, -0/+3David Carr, THANK YOU for writing this story. Good luck.
- ljfrench, on 07/07/2008, -1/+4A reporter will lose credibility if he calls foul and he's wrong. Plus, Fox News is apparently REALLY annoying...
- inactive, on 07/07/2008, -2/+4They are still #1 - are they getting what they deserve ?
- Pake, on 07/07/2008, -2/+4You call out one companies ***** and they'll call out yours. They might fight over ratings, but just like politicians, they won't go on the attack when they have something to hide as well.
- stonedthot, on 07/07/2008, -2/+4Is anyone else getting the "for free access to this article and more you have to be a registered member of NYTimes.com"?
- Sanduu, on 07/07/2008, -5/+7MakiMaki, you might get attacked :D
- TritonX, on 07/08/2008, -4/+6Fox as any other media is not interested in fairness or the truth, all they want is good stories to tell their audience.
- QubitTarutaru, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2As far as I'm concerned, most media outlets are biased and pull these stunts. http://www.nytimes.com/2006/08/14/technology/14pho ... (concerning the Los Angeles Times and Reuters)
- sideffects, on 07/08/2008, -1/+3Digg is getting way too liberal for me. The New York Times is, of course, going to come out with a bs story about Fox News because that's how liberal agenda's work: attack people who oppose you.
Go ahead and bury me. - spudhead, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2Nice work with the stereotypes and buzzwords. You forgot to use "elitist."
- Cuchanu, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2I didn't say they weren't number one. But O'Reilly recently began losing the "prime demographic" to Olbermann so maybe I should've said "peaked."
- gordonrp, on 07/08/2008, -4/+5Get more real news from Jerry Springer than fox "news".
- semrocks, on 07/08/2008, -1/+2"Execellent grammar there, Chief."
You just pwned yourself, moron....or should I spell it so you'll understand it...moran... - fuse13, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1You are sick of paying tax? Why dont you move to Canada?
- XenonofArcticus, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1Plug: I did an image analysis of what Fox did to Steinberg & Reddicliffe:
http://digg.com/television/When_Fox_Attacks_Steinb ... - Veriander, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1How can you read My email to Mr. Carr as a defense of Fox? I simply feel that all news organizations are down in the mud, too. I get my news from many varied sources and I feel Fox news actually presents most stories with less bias than the NYT. When is the last time you actually watched Fox News (as opposed to opinion shows like O'Reilly or Hannity)? Do you actually base your opinions on experience or are you just a Lefttard sheep?
And no, I do not believe journalistic objectivity exists in the world today. I wish it did. Given that it doesn't exist (in my humble opinion) the next best thing would be for journalists to say up front how they feel about the issue they're reporting on.
My opinion. Now, go ahead and call me more names. - zspade, on 07/08/2008, -2/+3I'll drink to that... Where's the kool-aid?
Oh right, America already drank it all. - JHB800, on 07/08/2008, -1/+2Wait, so that means FoxNews actually shares a trait with 90% of the people on Digg, and most of the people who identify themselves as 'extremely liberal'?
I don't care who you are, attacking people that you disagree with is disgusting and wrong. (that goes for both left and right) If you can't logically and thoughtfully defend your position, shut your mouth and walk away. Its as simple as that. -
