    I wish you were right and I was wrong tho, but I hate to even say this, we haven't even seen the worst of it. 5 year bonds from 2003 (the biggest mortgage year by far) come due in February. They will bankrupt America.

    If you are relatively young (35 and younger) start watching the market to see where you can jump in. This is a once in a lifetime buying opportunity. You can get a roth IRA from scot trade for like $500.
  • LilRabbitFooFoo, on 10/09/2008, -1/+16Yup. The bubble is bursting, that's all. The market, mutual funds, etc. were never REALLY worth what you thought they were over the past two years...period. Keyed against the dollar (which has been falling for a decade), the market might be only "worth" 7000 points on the hard core asset value fundamentals, but it should be about 8000-9000 due to stock market "gambling". I don't think it will drop below 7,000 before it comes back up again, slowly, cautiously, once the panickers are out of a market they never should have been playing in the first place.

    In short, you NEVER had $200,000 in your mutual fund. You always had $100,000 that everyone was artificially valuing (like your home) at much higher than it was worth. Now it's going back to what it would have been.

    The bad news is that the dollar is still monstrously weak after a decade of doubling the federal deficit, and so we'll all be paying for that for a very long time to come.
