- dajernts, on 07/25/2008, -10/+360Hopefully, in the long run, this movie beats Titanic. I'm sick of that being the best grossing movie of all time.
- jks139, on 07/26/2008, -8/+300This just in! Dark Knight articles on Digg show no sign of slowing down.
- inactive, on 07/26/2008, -13/+206I was in line at the theatre thursday when all of a sudden this mexican dressed in a bat suite comes strollin down holding a sign: NEED TICKETS. So he finally reaches me and asks in the heaviest mexican accent if i have any extra tickets. And guess what, i told him that i will buy him one. He is sorta shocked and doesn't know what to do. He has to decide, stay out and try to "sell" some tickets or come enjoy the show. He decided to take my offer. However, i told him the only exception is that he has to sit next to me. He agreed.
So, I am all excited as I enter the theatre with my new mexican batman friend. We take a seat right in the middle, perfect seats.. I sit down for 5 minutes before i tell batman that i have to go to the bathroom. I come back and see that the batman has stripped down to his underwear. I obviousley ask what he is doing, and he answers that it was too hot in the costume. So now i am sitting next to an almost naked dude, getting ready to watch batman. I had already seen Dark Knight once, so i was contemplating whether or not i should just leave. But i decided to do something else. I saw the bathman costume on the ground, and I took it. I changed in the bathroom and went back to the movie. I went to the front of the theatre and screamed. I AM BATMAN!!!!. The crowd went hysterical and cheered for a minute straight. The mexican stood up and said. "thats my costume." and I said... - inactive, on 07/25/2008, -8/+177This was absolutely amazing and the best Batman film and superhero film ever in every way.
- inactive, on 07/26/2008, -6/+166and i said..... WHY SO SERIOUS!! in my best Joker impression. And i took off my bat mask and messed up my hair like the Joker. The crowed contined to cheer. This hotttt girl right in front of me in the 1st row stood up, and put her hands through my hair, making it all sloppy and messy. She then took out her lipstick and drew Joker lips on me. The theatre exploded. So, by now the naked mexican had made his way down to me in the front and started telling me to take off his costume.
- juttman, on 07/25/2008, -5/+118Damn, maybe the Scientologist should have let his enslaved wife be in this movie.
- 2Deluxe, on 07/26/2008, -8/+99Digg needs a Dark Knight section.
- inactive, on 07/25/2008, -3/+93I haven't seen the movie, and I guarentee I'll be adding to the Dark Knight's revenue this weekend! It's Friday!
- megaton, on 07/26/2008, -12/+98Isn't the definition of expecting to make half what you made the week before a "sign of slowing down"?
75 / 158.4 = 47%
Yep. Mathematics still work.
I must be doing something wrong...
Oh, right. I'm not speculating enough.
*patiently waits to get dugg down, even though math = truth = this title is a lie*
(p.s. tdk was ***** awesome. fwiw.)
(p.p.s. i'm drunk. digg me down. please.) - inactive, on 07/26/2008, -5/+90So. me and the naked man stand face to face. He doesn't say a word, but just stares at me.I figure I had enough fun and was about to get kicked out, so I take off my cape and put it on him. Then this geek gets up from the front row and reaches inside his jacket and pulls out a wizard hat. he puts it on the mexican. 20% of the theatre stood up and yelled at once "Oh, I like to play dress up!!"
- inactive, on 07/26/2008, -11/+90Don't sign your posts.
-Digg - EatingPie, on 07/25/2008, -18/+74Seriously, whose idea was it to place the X-Files one week after The Dark Knight? It's a total set-up for a disaster.
LA Times is predicting just $15M for X-Files. It needs to do at least twice that for a real success, and a potential movie series... but I really doubt it.
-Pie - beelz, on 07/26/2008, -4/+54If you look at the numbers the only reason Titanic is #1 in all time grossing is because it was in theaters for 200+ days. It only made $28 million opening weekend.
http://www.the-numbers.com/movies/1997/TITAN.php - inactive, on 07/26/2008, -5/+50Batman isn't a superhero. Hell, he isn't even a hero.
He's whatever Gotham needs him to be. - neonoodle, on 07/26/2008, -0/+44The ARISTOBATS!... ok, I'm going to bed.
- Cloned, on 07/26/2008, -2/+46Don't leave us hanging like that!
- megaton, on 07/26/2008, -6/+49WTF? *****! Digg me DOWN!!! Fandom supersedes all logic! In fact, it not only eliminates logic, but makes said logic negative, thusly! Down, damnit, DOWN!!
You aren't diggers. you're just poseurs. Upholding the Internet intolerance my ass... - megaton, on 07/26/2008, -3/+45You're idiots. The whole lot of you.
- mexicanman07, on 07/26/2008, -5/+44im going to make this pencil disappear
- kingmanic, on 07/26/2008, -0/+37I think it's the psychological themes that kept her out. The ideas about unfixable crazies and psychopaths doing good. It made them nervous, maybe the sheep might start thinking that people aren't infected by alien thought parasites and might decide the voices in their head may need more conventional treatments.
- enjoyincubus19, on 07/26/2008, -1/+36Will the rest of the theatre strip down and play dress up too?
Will this hottttt girl turn out to be a real girl or just a guy with makeup and a purse?
Will the mexican succumb to his desire and get completely naked ( except for the cape of course)?
Will the movie ever start?
Find out next time on "A (Dark K)Night to Remember" - airr, on 07/26/2008, -4/+36I am Christopher Nolan's manager. Mr. Nolan wants to write the script for the next batman movie. Would you be interested? Is so, please call us at 1-800-4-BATMAN
- kingmanic, on 07/26/2008, -1/+33Cruise suggested she do a comedy called Mad Money. it flopped.
- BlaqReaper, on 07/26/2008, -3/+31Maybe he's a silent guardian?
- inactive, on 07/26/2008, -1/+28And the only reason Titanic was in for 200+ days was the awesome word-of-mouth advertising the film was receiving.
It's a decent movie, but nothing special. - shady1630, on 07/26/2008, -0/+27.....a.....DARK KNIGHT?
- Trax91, on 07/26/2008, -0/+27A watchful protector?
- kingmanic, on 07/26/2008, -1/+26Hopefully the same girls that saw titanic twice a month for almost a year will go to watch heath ledger twice a month for almost a year. Comic fans and men in general may see it once or twice but what kept Titanic in the money week after week was the devotion of those girls.
- havokdu, on 07/26/2008, -2/+27Aaron Eckhart's Harvey Dent / Two-Face role was underrated by most critics. He deserves as much credit as bale and Ledger.
- lynch03, on 07/26/2008, -7/+31Part of the reason the titanic did so well is the amount of 14 year old girls who went to see it 12 ***** times.
- fatlucy101, on 07/26/2008, -1/+25Take it easy on the mountain dew and cheetos, bud.
Just go to bed. - inactive, on 07/26/2008, -5/+28who cares what you said...did you blow him?
- Dokument, on 07/26/2008, -3/+26it was almost like a magic trick.
- Devotia, on 07/26/2008, -3/+25They're not crazy, they're just ahead of the curve.
- peterjmag, on 07/26/2008, -1/+22That's a hell of an act. What do you call it?
- AZRoboto, on 07/26/2008, -0/+20Who would've guessed the casting of an actress would be a spoiler. Did you know that Heath Ledger is the Joker?
- chrisinsocalif, on 07/26/2008, -0/+19It's already posted on the net. That proves to Hollywood, if you make a good movie, people will pay to see it and to quit blaming the internet for poor ticket sales.
- m3mn0n, on 07/26/2008, -1/+20HAHA. That's a hilarious little story.
So you watched Batman in some Mexican's sweaty Batman suit and some random chick's lipstick all over your face? Or did you get back to square one?
I WANT TO READ THE SEQUEL! - cvindustries, on 07/26/2008, -2/+19Pie always signs his posts.
- inactive, on 07/26/2008, -1/+17Riveting.
- mrblue182, on 07/26/2008, -3/+19Me too. Me too.
- inactive, on 07/26/2008, -0/+16Why are you reading comments here then? Stop looking for a reason to be a pussy. The casting is not a secret.
- nightwing2000, on 07/26/2008, -1/+17How the ***** does Stepbrothers cost $65MILLION??
- Cadenzah, on 07/26/2008, -5/+21Actually, Gone With the Wind is the best grossing movie ever (in inflation adjusted dollars).
http://www.filmsite.org/boxoffice.html - firedrillduckie, on 07/26/2008, -3/+19It's like the Wii of movies.
- inactive, on 07/26/2008, -2/+16Maybe as Bale, not as Ledger.
Ledger killed the Joker with him. We can't have the Joker in any more movie after the performance he gave, every new one will be compared to this one. - inactive, on 07/26/2008, -1/+14Did he really keep her out of it? I hadn't heard why she wasn't in it.
- StuartGibson, on 06/14/2009, -3/+16Dark Knight opened in the UK on Wenesday, I've now seen it twice and fully intend it to take over from The Matrix as my film-seen-most-times-in-a-cinema (current record stands at 5).
I suspect a lot of other fanboys will do the same, so you never know. - gropo, on 07/26/2008, -0/+13Titanic was released in 1997 at the beginning of a big economic bubble; people had more disposable income to go see that overhyped film 2, 3 times. We're currently diving in to one of the freakiest economic downturns since the 1930's.
On the other hand, this film isn't a blockbuster... It's whatever the world needs it to be. - sdfghjkl, on 07/26/2008, -0/+11I don't understand why Lukesed was dugg down. Titanic was not kept in theaters by some binding agreement; the market demanded it. Look at the records for best opening, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. Titanic has the best 4th - 18th weekend.
