- 3tcp, on 07/15/2008, -8/+71Drinking budweiser is as satisfying as eating stale wonderbread...
- nailPuppy, on 07/15/2008, -3/+46Isn't the name already known pretty widely? As a crappy beer, of course.
- Scoorn, on 07/15/2008, -3/+33Europe knows about Budweiser, we just don't care!
- jackal42, on 07/15/2008, -4/+32Have no doubts, Budweiser beer will be known as the worlds greatest nats piss drink, for douche bags worldwide.
- Sillywombat, on 07/15/2008, -4/+29So, all they have to do is be able to produce more beer to ship it abroad.
No mention that there are plenty of beers in europe that will be local, meaning:
1. Cheaper
2. Not Budweiser (better taste) - mciampa1214, on 07/15/2008, -5/+29Redneck spotted
- MacroDaemon, on 07/15/2008, -1/+25You ought to try vodka. You pay less for a bigger kick.
Tastes better, too. - inactive, on 07/15/2008, -14/+37I drink Busch lite. Why? Because I don't give a ***** about beer, it's cheap and I'm just drinking it for the buzz. Thats why we drink this *****. It's cheap and gets the job done. I predict there's going to be 1000 posts about how ***** American light beer is. You guys are missing the point. It's cheap and you can drink a lot of it. Ever guzzle down 8 Guinesses? It's like stuffing a loaf of bread down your throat and you get the runs. Beer like that needs to be enjoyed in smaller quantities.
- whaler, on 07/15/2008, -0/+22The reason InBev bought AB in the first place was to streamline the production of Stella Artois worldwide. You make Stella by leaving some Budweiser in the sun for a few days.
- bosssmiley, on 07/15/2008, -3/+20You say elitist like it's a bad thing. Why should anyone want beer that's less than first rate?
- rsc0, on 07/15/2008, -2/+18Budweiser is already recognized from the United States to Europe to Asia as being a pretty sub-standard beer.
- blitz718, on 07/15/2008, -4/+19Excuse some of us who actually like to enjoy beer, not only drink piss for inebriation
Regardless, InBev take-over means cheaper Hoegaarden for me, and that's never a bad thing! - custal, on 07/15/2008, -0/+15Whether it is in relation to crappy beer or not depends on whether you're talking about Budweiser (Anheuser-Busch) or Budějovický Budvar (a.k.a Budweiser Budvar).
- Krysis, on 07/15/2008, -1/+15"This Bud's for E.U."?
- rsc0, on 07/15/2008, -2/+15not liking Budweiser isn't beer elitism, it's common sense
- inactive, on 07/15/2008, -6/+19ding ding ding we have a winner. there's a time to drink cheap *****, and there's a time to drink good beer. insulting each one is stupid
- inactive, on 07/15/2008, -2/+15***** beer spotted
*fixed - tincansandtwine, on 07/15/2008, -1/+11I drink lots of beer. It does. And I'm not even cool.
- waydee, on 07/15/2008, -1/+11Budweiser is already known the world over, it's lumped with all the other mass produced fizzy straw yellow lagers - cheap and easy to drink.
- Timbo1970, on 07/15/2008, -1/+10Are you sure it's not the original Czech beer? If it's the American, I pity you, and wonder if you guys would also buy a bridge I have for sale, it costs twice as much as any other, but sucks.
- inactive, on 07/15/2008, -0/+9Well have a few good beers until you're too drunk to care, then have ***** beer.
- inactive, on 07/15/2008, -1/+990% Mainstream American beers are piss, there's no water involved.
- borez, on 07/15/2008, -4/+12"to turn Budweiser beer into a name that is recognized from the United States to Europe to Asia"
Isn't that the case anyway? FTR it'll still taste like crap. - custal, on 07/15/2008, -1/+9Actually, I see another trademark dispute coming.
Anheuser-Busch cannot sell its "Budweiser" where German is spoken, due to the fact that 'Budweiser' is really a Czech beer -- and the name dates back to 1265. According to European law, only a local brewery can use a local name, as is the case here.
Also, Anheuser-Busch cannot use the abbreviation "Bud" in Europe, since it's too close to "Bit" another beer (or rather its registered trademark), this time from Germany. - doctordbx, on 07/15/2008, -1/+8I drink a lot of beer, and I still think it tastes like piss water.
- HamSandwich, on 07/15/2008, -0/+799.99% of all small/micro breweries >>>>>>>>>>>> Any Budweiser
- stonebone4, on 07/15/2008, -2/+8Yuengling >>>>>>>>> Any Budweiser
- widgetmaker, on 07/15/2008, -1/+6How do you know most people here haven't drunk beer. I suspect most have, and a fair few will have tried proper Ales etc to compare to Beers like Bud, Stella etc.
- inactive, on 07/15/2008, -0/+5Hoe manay dif yoi havr todayu?
- Dhalgren, on 07/15/2008, -0/+5Have you ever had a good beer? I suppose if all you have had to drink are domestic beers, then you may think that is good or good enough. If you've never sat in first class can you really say that it's not worth it? You should try other good beers before trying to compare them to Budweiser. Sample them all and find out if you like IPAs or Hefeweizens, or some other tasty beer. Myself, there's not much I won't drink, but currently my favorite beer is Smithwicks. It's an Irish red ale, and tasty as hell. Also, if you're in a bar and they have Fat Tire on tap and you've never had Fat Tire on tap before, you owe it to your taste buds to have a sample.
- seraph582, on 07/15/2008, -0/+5imports are becoming more and more passe as american craftbrews steal the show. There is nothing better than an American craftbrewed beer. Nothing.
- treeflappa, on 07/15/2008, -0/+5The real Bud is made in Czech republic. It is in no way the same people that produce the American knockoff.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bud%C4%9Bjovick%C3%BD ... - bosssmiley, on 07/15/2008, -1/+6Amazing. Get your ad copy in Forbes, it later ends up on Digg as a bonus.
- rushiku, on 07/15/2008, -2/+7I thought Bud already was recognized Worldwide, as in: "Isn't Bud that ***** American beer?"
- waydee, on 07/15/2008, -0/+5The Czech Budvar is available across most of Europe and is actually cheaper than Budweiser as far as I can tell, comes in nice big 700ml bottles too.
- rivalius13, on 07/15/2008, -0/+5It's the American Bud, it sucks just the same and people don't seem to know any better. I'll stick to Smithwicks. It's cheaper than Bud and a whole lot nicer.
- waydee, on 07/15/2008, -0/+5I wish it wasn't true but it is, most pubs in the UK will carry it at least in bottles because the cretins just love its easily consumed lack of flavour. Not so sure it's popular at all on the continent, who knows though. It's certainly no worse than the average European macrobrew, the stella and kronenberg etc.
Of course it doesn't compete with real beer, beer made with care and obvious passion - the real ales, continental pilsners/lagers/weissbraus/whatever else still and always will have their place amongst the more discerning drinker.
Anheuser Busch do face fairly stiff competition from Heineken and Carlsberg though, since they bought Scottish and Newcastle they're a force to be reckoned with (in the UK at least) with well established brands. As far as 'premium' macrobrewed lagers go Carlsberg produce a better one than any other large brewer i've come across too. - Skorme, on 07/15/2008, -0/+5Heineken is the Budweiser of the Dutch.
- inactive, on 07/15/2008, -0/+5"InBev and Anheuser-Busch now say they are going to turn Budweiser beer into a name that is recognized from the United States to Europe to Asia."
But will Bud still be popular at NFL games and Nascar races? Not if some effeminate European is in charge of marketing. And oh yeah. Indians hate beer. Chinese don't like it much more. Look for a revitalization of Schlitz in the domestic market. Go for the Gusto! - NelsonR, on 07/15/2008, -0/+5Buy local beer and keep the money here in the States. Never liked Bud anyway since it taste like a wine cooler. Try Sam Adams, Boston Lager.
- drewfshr, on 07/15/2008, -0/+5Regardless of beer preference, being from St. Louis its sad to lose AB as a St. Louis company. They do a lot of great charity work in our area and I fear the merger will change that. I have tried many beers and enjoy several, but I mostly enjoy light beers (especially Bud Select!!) Call me crazy but I don't enjoy drinking one "full" beer and feel like I swallowed an entire Thanksgiving dinner without chewing.
- Threlly1, on 07/15/2008, -4/+8Sorry Asswinder Bush or whatever your name is, I don't drink chemically altered piss.
Just try and hawk your crap in Europe, they'll die laughing.
Even bog-standard local brews in Europe show your product to be just what it is.
Feculance. - publiclurker, on 07/15/2008, -1/+5I happen to prefer my grain before it goes through a Clydesdale, thank you very much.
- Dhalgren, on 07/15/2008, -0/+4This doesn't make any sense. Why would you take the "American" nasty Budweiser and make it international? Why not take some of InBev's good beers and market them hard in the US? Go the other direction. And if you're going to drink domestic beer, there are much better choices than Budweiser...
- marksism, on 07/15/2008, -1/+4You sound 19.
- HamSandwich, on 07/15/2008, -1/+4I don't really get your point here. Bud is terrible... and Stella's pretty good. Is there anybody here that would actually lump those two into the same category??
- joelm2400, on 07/15/2008, -0/+3Not that there is no such thing as a good American Beer, Ive had many, Its just that Ive never had a good mass produced American beer.
- rivalius13, on 07/15/2008, -0/+3If you want to get drunk drink spirits, they taste a lot nicer and are probably cheaper too. If I want to get drunk I'll but a bottle of vodka or rum, if I want to have a few beers I'll have smithwicks or Bulmers.
- SOS84, on 07/15/2008, -1/+4What are they going to do when they can't sell that swill under the Budweiser name in Europe because of, you know, the real Budweiser, which actually is worth drinking.
