- Mysk, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3Yet another bull ***** article about the supposedly massive ammounts of money that AdSense can make you. The article talks about "small sites", and then goes on to talk about TechCrunch in the first paragraph.
It's full of shiat. Small sites don't make lots of money off of AdSense or Yahoo Publisher. The only way to make a lot of money off of those systems is to have a lot of traffic.
These articles are dangerous. They fill people's heads with the idea that you can make a living off of this, and the fact is that few blogs ever become so popular that it's making as much money as, say, Tech Crunch. The most that you'll get is pizza money.
Ironically enough I blogged about this very topic awhile ago. For those interested, the post is here: http://tinyurl.com/lbvz2
Sure I would like to make more dough off of these systems, but I'm not jealous of the success of these other blogs. It irks me, however, when big news sites like this fuel the unrealistic hype about this illusionary gold mine.
