- MarkLaymon, on 08/05/2008, -0/+28you must develop MANY passive income streams!!!
- DrCrankenstein, on 08/05/2008, -0/+19I'm not quitting my job quite yet, but these are some good tips that I think can apply even now.
- tvnews, on 08/05/2008, -1/+16After a few jobs while at school at uni I decided I never wanted to work for anyone - 3 years later I still never have - apart from maybe the tax man.
- badwithcomputer, on 08/06/2008, -1/+14just steal a few fractions of a penny from every micro-transaction- what could go wrong?
- wonderchemist, on 08/05/2008, -0/+12For details on how send $1 to...
- balibones, on 08/05/2008, -2/+13That's it. I'm quiting my job and becoming an organic farmer... Now if only I can come up with a half-a-mil to buy all the land and equipment I'll need for even a few acres of farming.
- MikeonTV, on 08/05/2008, -0/+9Like around 50,000 that each earn around $1
- inactive, on 08/05/2008, -0/+8Staying married is a big one. I know many couples go through all sorts of financial strain when they break the knot.
- louiebaur, on 08/06/2008, -0/+8 But how does one get the job to begin with?
- RegalGSX, on 08/06/2008, -1/+9Sell drugs. You'll never have to work again. Either you'll be successful, go to prison, or get capped.
- wellnessgrades, on 08/05/2008, -0/+7If one tracks their spending and keeps it in check , thats a good start by itself
- deadlift, on 08/06/2008, -1/+8Office Space ftw
- pws1970, on 08/06/2008, -0/+6Good article for those of a forward thinking inclination.
- MajorDamage, on 08/06/2008, -1/+6Yet another web site whose sole purpose is to draw advertising dollars by promising intelligence and delivering mindless, drooling stupidity. "Think like a millionaire"? Paris Hilton is a millionaire, should I think like her? Does she even think?
I wish I had the time I spent reading that web page back so I could spend it diversifying my income. I am guessing that means rob banks AND trains. Or maybe that is step two for the underwear gnomes. - wellnessrfp, on 08/05/2008, -1/+6The best way to make money nowadays is to sell the dream to others of " how to get rich"
- evanct, on 08/06/2008, -1/+5It's kind of funny when you read an entire digg discussion about the woes of looking for a job during an economic recession, and then in the next headline you see:
"HOW TO QUIT YOUR JOB!"
some recession. - sysop073, on 08/06/2008, -0/+3That would depend on your definition of "cost"
- inactive, on 08/06/2008, -0/+2And that's exactly how the people who advertise useless "Get Rich Quick Schemes" on late on infomercials become rich as hell.
- ketchup176, on 08/06/2008, -0/+2Quit anyway?
- paisley, on 08/06/2008, -0/+2but what if you love your job and make good money?
- granolajoe, on 08/06/2008, -0/+2Many of these points (passive income streams, living like a millionaire) sound very similar to the template for success that Timothy Ferriss promotes in The 4 Hour Work Week
- BoneheadFarker, on 08/06/2008, -1/+3Superman 3 FTW!
- je12u, on 08/06/2008, -0/+2...Happy Guy?
- jefuchs, on 08/06/2008, -0/+210. Get on Digg front page, so your residual income gets a boost
- petebot, on 08/06/2008, -0/+2"Stay together for the money"
- jorichter, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1Ah... 9 Steps... If only it were that easy.
- petebot, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1I prefer the New York Dolls' 7 day weekend.
- zantos420, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1about 5 years in a federal pound-me-in-the-ass prison is what could go wrong
- wellnessratings, on 08/05/2008, -1/+2I started freelancing about a year back and was able to quit my job and live quite well
- jefuchs, on 08/06/2008, -1/+2It really is that easy if you actually DO all those things. But keep in mind that they aren't saying you will get rich (not quickly, anyway). They're saying you can replace your job with other sources of income, part of which includes being able to live on less income because you manage money better.
I do everything on that list, and I'm two years away from my goal.
I'm worth nearly a million now (taking a hit in this economy) including my house equity. I drive a 15-year-old Toyota while the people in my office, even those who make a lot less money, are buying new expensive vehicles. They always tell me how rich I am, but none will follow my example. - chumprock, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1A great way to keep making money is to ensure your site doesn't crash from digg effect.
- vibeseo, on 08/05/2008, -1/+2The article is great, wish it went into more specific as where to start and how to expand on it
- buddyfarr, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1step 1 - win the lotto
step 2 - don't work anymore
couldn't be any easier than that...oh, wait. forget that. - whorunbartertwn, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1To me the passive income streams sounds like it comes from the tool planting the "CEO Pay from HOME!" signs on the freeway offramps at 4:00 am.
I think you'd be more successful finding what you do best, what gives you the most income to job satisfaction ratio, then devote all your energies there instead of having 20 pans on the stove. - NinjaReptile, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0Cool article
- buddyfarr, on 08/06/2008, -1/+1yeah, quit anyway! didn't you read the dang article? man, some poeple I swear....
- hawkeyeracer, on 08/06/2008, -1/+1I've never seen mint.com That looks like a pretty good deal... being free and all.
- LocalDocal, on 08/06/2008, -0/+0Well, that's probably because money advice *are* usually the same thing. Most advice concerning financial situations have the same basic points: Spend less than you earn, get multiple sources of income, don't get needlessly in debt, and don't take high interest loans.
There is really no way around it. You want to have money? You either need to do the above or marry a wealthy spouse. - buddyfarr, on 08/06/2008, -1/+0where the heck is my red stapler!!
- inactive, on 08/06/2008, -2/+1WORST LIST EVAR
- buddyfarr, on 08/06/2008, -1/+0uh.....y-eah.....ummmm....badwithcomputer.....I am gonna need you to come in on saturday.......and sunday too......
