- borez, on 12/21/2008, -2/+8Have ***** loads of money, a fit secretary and a massive proceeding reputation.
Also, a huge yacht, an office the size of Manhattan and the ability to put the fear of god into your competitors seems to work for some. - garlicdeath, on 12/21/2008, -2/+7Make sure you read articles that state the obvious.
- TechMike, on 12/21/2008, -0/+4#2 - smile when you talk. Especially on the phone. They can't see you but they can hear it in your voice.
- pnmoore, on 12/21/2008, -1/+5The sad thing is that I work with people that seem to really think some of these are what you should do...lol
No joke, I see #'s 2, 4, 5, 6 and 7 way too frequently. - nytel, on 12/21/2008, -0/+4#1: Respond within 24 Hours
#2: Greet People with Enthusiasm
#3: Make Eye Contact
#4: Leave Smart Voice Messages
#5: Respect Contacts
#6: Mind Your E-Mail
#7: Remember Small Touches (?) - revrev, on 12/21/2008, -0/+4Good list. Though most of these seem self-explanatory, you'd be surprised how few people actually practice these.
- remotehuman, on 12/21/2008, -1/+5this is a good article for someone who is starting a small business or just wants to make decent contacts for the future
- phreak79, on 12/22/2008, -0/+4It is quite amazing how many voice messages I get left and the sender whizzes through their number so quickly it generally takes 3 or 4 listens to get it down fully. Slow down dude.
- jab46, on 12/21/2008, -0/+3This should all be common sense - isn't it?
- untreadatom, on 12/22/2008, -0/+2#1 - Run your business into the ground.
#2 - Get massive bailouts for you and your corporate cronies.
#3 - Profits come before everything else- lives included.
#4 - Make sure you outsource to a third world country in order to take advantage of other countries resources (no pesky environmental protections there) and get discounts by having outsourcers that pay slave wages to underage kids.
#5 - retire huge. (buy an SUV, McMansion, anything your heart desires)
#1- really should be stay the ***** out of business. - inactive, on 12/22/2008, -0/+2these would be terrible? i imagine it would be like having to listen to some assclown's answering machine message at the end of every voicemail.
"hey you've just received a message from rudolph dicksnout, my phone number is blah blah peace out" - DonnaChmura, on 12/22/2008, -0/+2It is amazing to me that things like this need to be stated. What a sorry state we are all in.
- cwgdrumman, on 12/22/2008, -0/+1this would be helpful if I had no common sense.
- inactive, on 12/22/2008, -0/+1I see random apostrophes much more than random quotation marks, especially on Digg.
- hobophobe, on 12/21/2008, -0/+1Rule #4: Leave Smart Voice Messages
This one raised an interesting point in my mind: why in the hell are there not .sigs for voicemail? People use them on their traditional mail and e-mail. Someone should add them to voicemail. - hlsgr01, on 12/22/2008, -0/+1Quite interesting article. Most of the time we try to avoid minor things which are important for our business. Thanks for sharing these guidelines.
- funkyloki, on 12/23/2008, -0/+1Spam.
- lucutus, on 12/21/2008, -0/+1Please continue to spread these practices so
i can continue to call people a ***** dolt! - inactive, on 12/21/2008, -2/+2#9 after waking them up say very loudly "Rise and Shine!"
- celistina, on 12/21/2008, -1/+1nice list, simple and intuitive yet easy to lose sight of when we get into the thick of things
- Rocksolid89, on 12/21/2008, -2/+2Nice article; most of these are pretty valuable even for non-small businesses; the info on common courtesy is stuff I've found invaluable for helping customers.
- notmv80, on 12/22/2008, -0/+0"I" "don't" "use" "quotation marks" "randomly" "."
- terryallison, on 12/22/2008, -0/+0It seems pretty obvious to me. And we needed an article to tell us about turnaround on email?
Sincerely,
Terry - suzimum, on 12/22/2008, -1/+0cool!

Is innovation the main key to the success of a business?
Read This : http://www.wiseexec.com/FaceOff/_1.aspx - SamSks, on 12/21/2008, -1/+0#5 is desperation.
There's so many folks out there trying to sell stuff that folks will do anything to get their foot in the door. There's also the folks who read the books on cheap sales techniques that tell you about how Babe Ruth struck out more than he hit home runs so therefore the more 'nos' you get the more 'yeses' you'll end up with. - Djharlock, on 12/21/2008, -3/+1I call Rule # 34
- inactive, on 12/21/2008, -3/+0Certification in "How to be a Douchebag 101".
