- jaybol, on 09/04/2008, -4/+8i love that you still dugg this article after that comment, and appreciate it!
- pacificislandr4, on 09/04/2008, -4/+7If I was offered the same job overseas but with five times the salary and a slightly easier workload I'd be interested in taking it.
- dankpants, on 09/05/2008, -1/+4Kobe Bryant is black
- olasonn, on 09/04/2008, -4/+6This is very true. I was hoping to see a comment like this.
- dexter411, on 09/04/2008, -1/+2Apparently, people don't know the difference between a talented footballer and a well-marketed one. Too bad.
PS: I agree, timpoke. Also, Ronaldinho when he's healthy. - timpoke8, on 09/04/2008, -2/+2Thank you! Beckham is ridiculously overrated. Even when he was good, he wasn't amazing at anything besides free kicks. The people digging you down know nothing about soccer. Zidane, Fabregras, Kaka, Henry, etc are real players.
- arial, on 09/04/2008, -1/+1Good one you really got me there. Yes I do watch basketball but I'm not a Kobe fan. Mr. MVP couldn't win a ring w/o Shaq. That's a fact until he manages to do so.
- shakebabies, on 09/04/2008, -4/+4euro > $
- arensquared, on 09/05/2008, -1/+1Kobe Kobe Kobe
- blackinthmiddle, on 09/04/2008, -5/+4Dude, basketball, like anything else in life that generates revenue, is a business. When Kobe doesn't make economic sense to the Lakers, they'll do what's good for the Lakers. I'm definitely not a Kobe Bryant fan, but he would be foolish not to do what's best for himself and his family out of "loyalty".
I never understand those that ask athletes to do what nobody else in society does. - acid0426, on 09/04/2008, -2/+2These comments suck.
- Bigcolby, on 09/05/2008, -1/+1The lack of a salary cap over there allows them to offer him double or more than double than what his normal salary is. Also, who wouldn't want to play in front of crowds that cheer for you more consistently and genuinely?
but shazbot I'll get buried whatever I say because that's what this has become. - anillop, on 09/04/2008, -2/+1Go back to WOW and let the big kids talk.
- imitokay, on 09/04/2008, -6/+5you sir, seem very close minded
Even though I only rarely go to sporting events, I respect and appreciate another persons love for the sport and its players.
You should as well because I doubt they ever interfere with your movie watching - inactive, on 09/04/2008, -2/+1Jealous it wasn't you?
- Mist0r_Wiggles, on 09/04/2008, -2/+1He wasn't a ball hog during the Olympics
- evanman69, on 09/05/2008, -1/+0***** KOBE!
- mizatt, on 09/04/2008, -5/+3Yeah, players should just shut up and take whatever their teams and leagues pay them, right? This market competition stuff is getting out of hand
- Managua8Green, on 09/04/2008, -3/+1I will, you probably don't even watch basketball.
- blankmedia, on 09/04/2008, -5/+3Blanco is, not Beckham
- tr1pw1re, on 09/04/2008, -6/+4dont get mad, just cause you got picked last for sports every friday doesnt mean sports sucks.
just means ur fat. - imitokay, on 09/04/2008, -5/+3there is no world cup for basketball(at least not in a world cup soccer kind of way)... (no, I don't put the olympics at the same level)
- mugupo, on 09/04/2008, -7/+4Yeah, Kobe always consider going to Europe, especially since he was born in Italy, but if China got money and NBA league build in there, he likely go there too, since he got far more fan support in China than the rest of the world combine. But only money is the issue.
- ftw8tw, on 09/04/2008, -7/+4he can still put up amazing numbers whenever he wants
- MisterGnome, on 06/13/2009, -7/+3This is fun.
- pitdog, on 09/04/2008, -7/+3If he has to be someone else of the game, he'd be better off being Jordan of basketball, or if soccer - Pele.
Better yet - be himself. - AmericanParty, on 09/04/2008, -4/+0soon, it wont be Colorado though. It will be some unfortunate girl in Europe now.
- blackinthmiddle, on 09/04/2008, -5/+1I completely agree with you. They're greedy.
Doctors make a heck of a lot more than secretaries, yet secretaries are still able to carve out an existence. I say doctors are greedy for charging our insurance as much as they do. From now on, no doctor should make more than $50K a year. Anything else just shows their greed. Same with lawyers. Those greedy bastards don't need nearly as much money as they get. While we're at it, why does Microsoft charge as much as they do for their operating system? Greedy bastards. They can get by just fine charging 60% of what they do right now. And movie prices should go down. Why do actors make $20 mil a pic. What they do isn't even important!!!
Do you know just how truly dumb you sound? Basketball is a business. The owners of teams will do what is in their best interest. So should the players. End of discussion. - blackinthmiddle, on 09/04/2008, -5/+1He's still a great player. However, saying he can put up amazing numbers "whenever he wants" is a stretch. I'm sure he would have liked to put up amazing numbers against Boston. Game six stats: 22 points on 7-22 (0.3182) shooting.
- blackinthmiddle, on 09/04/2008, -5/+1All players rot. Babe Ruth batted .188 his final year. Jordan, while still outperforming the vast majority of SGs, was still a shell of his former self his final two years with the Wizards. Larry Bird was an old man hobbled by back injuries. I can probably count on one hand the number of players who left during their prime and never came back. Jim Brown, Barry Sanders and Bjorn Borg come to mind. I can't think of any others right now.
- AmericanParty, on 09/04/2008, -4/+0buried for pointing that out!!!!!!!
/sarc - elithebest, on 09/04/2008, -5/+1You can't rape a WHORE!
- oldhick, on 09/04/2008, -6/+2Beckham that is...
- FreshHaikus, on 09/04/2008, -7/+2Except Kobe is not going to be totally washed up when he goes over there. If he does. Even if a European basketball team offered him a competitive contract, he would have to consider how much money he would lose in endorsements by leaving the US.
- inactive, on 09/04/2008, -7/+2If you mean will he screw around on his wife and act all contrite only when caught, then yes.
- shiftclick, on 09/04/2008, -8/+3Kobe is no MJ. MJ is better than Beckham ever will be, Cristiano Ronaldo could be an MJ!
- DRT23, on 09/04/2008, -10/+5I guess the thumbs-up button is broken...
- soopertoll, on 09/04/2008, -7/+1IS IT THE SKIN COLOR? HM!?
IS IT BECAUSE OF MY SKIN COLOR!?
YOU RACIST PIECE OF...
just kidding. :D - ps2pers0n, on 09/04/2008, -8/+2I will be buried.
- ABashore, on 09/04/2008, -8/+2I think this will be a good move for basketball in general.
While you may not like Kobe, he's just doing what any of us would do,
and that's looking out for #1. - enotswhat, on 09/04/2008, -9/+3only thing Kobe likes bending is white girls
and one thing Europe is abundant with.... - NuttyVirus, on 09/04/2008, -8/+2Last time i checked, David Beckham wasnt that great at playing soccer compared to others. Kobe on the other hand is a great basketball player.
- dksupremacy, on 09/04/2008, -9/+3Fck u! Why did this one have to be a graveyard? I actually wanted to read other people's opinion on this
- 22justin, on 09/04/2008, -8/+2both marbury and Kobe are coming to play in ITALY!!!! YAY!!
- samimnot, on 09/04/2008, -6/+0"Will Kobe Be the David Beckham of Basketball"
The answer is NO!!!!!
Kobe is in his prime and the best player in the NBA at this moment. On the other hand...Beckham hasn't been Beckham for the last 5 years. - Caerbannog, on 09/04/2008, -8/+2More like the Mike Tyson of date rape.
- krekc, on 09/04/2008, -10/+3Hi Bury Brigade!
- jimmypoops, on 09/04/2008, -9/+2This comment's already 6 feet under a pile of buried ones, no point burying it any more.
