Love, Toronto - Spamorama, on 06/30/2009, -10/+23VC Sucks!
- leetsoleet, on 06/30/2009, -1/+11Gonna be an interesting year in the East with Cleveland adding Shaq and Carter on the Magic. Not to mention several young team who gained some experience over the last playoff (Bulls, Hawks, 76ers). With the addition of Carter I really think Orlando is the team to beat, going to be close nevertheless.
- bicyclethief, on 06/30/2009, -1/+11Hedo is better for the Magic than VC. Too bad they can't afford to re-sign him now after this trade.
- forumz, on 06/30/2009, -7/+16Go ***** yourself Mr. Carter.
With Love, Toronto. - brownsound00, on 06/30/2009, -4/+13Alright alright, I'm a Toronto fan just like the next guy, and I understand the VC sucks stuff (I was all into that for a while too). But then I realized... if it wasn't for VC, the raptors franchise would be nothing. He put Toronto on the map. Yes, there was T-Mac, Stodamire, and now Bosh, but no one was as big as VC.
He did more for Toronto than anyone gives him credit for. I kinda wish he would have left in a better way. - Thetruthpp, on 06/30/2009, -1/+10Hedo Turkoglu > Vince Carter .
- TheR3dMenace, on 06/30/2009, -2/+8I hear the "He put Toronto on the map" argument all the time. But honestly, that is just as erroneous as a "VC Sucks" chant (because obviosly he can play, when he wants to). Sure he got a lot of exposure while in TO, but it was all nullified by the way he handcuffed Babcock with his play/attitude when he wanted out. Nets get Wince, we got to buy out Zo's contract, a couple of ball-bags and a pick that turned into 4 years of Joey Graham futility.
Look how "ecstatic" Wince is to leave NJ, notice a trend? That alone is enough to keep on this guy, he is a lot of flash (not even so much anymore) and no substance. - inactive, on 06/29/2009, -2/+7I would be too.
- FlaG8r, on 06/30/2009, -0/+4As a Magic fan, I agree completely Ne007. The Cavs gave away two guys that barely played in the conference finals while the Magic gave up their promising rookie SG and their primary back-up big man. Rafer Alston probably wasn't a big loss since he wouldn't have dealt well with being a back-up to Nelson, but the Magic also lost the ability to re-sign Hedo and Gortat.
Given that Vince isn't known for playing defense or sharing the ball, I'm not feeling too comfortable with this deal. - brisketplease, on 06/30/2009, -3/+7i like it when vince carter does sweet lay-ups and scores 2 points.
- bicyclethief, on 06/30/2009, -0/+4Just remember that even with Nash and Amare, Shaq didn't help the Suns make the playoffs-- and that's the best Shaq had looked in years.
- inactive, on 06/30/2009, -0/+4If they can keep Gortat, it's not that horrible of a move as it frees up more time for Pietrus - who is unquestionably better than Lee for at least the next season. You have to tip your hat to Orlando, at least they're going for it.
- pinkbob, on 06/30/2009, -0/+3Vince Quitter
-raps fan - TheR3dMenace, on 06/30/2009, -0/+2Once the knees go BBall players are never the same (especially after 14yrs in the league). I'd hold your breathe on that one
- senseilmno, on 07/01/2009, -0/+2ah prince carter.....how i dont miss ye
- JGang05, on 06/30/2009, -5/+7Man why the hate on VC. This makes Orlando a much better team.
- inactive, on 06/30/2009, -1/+3As a Lakes fan, I'm glad they made the trade too. As ugly and awkward as he is, Hedo honestly had more clutch moments in this single post-season than Carter has had over his entire career.
- indraneel24, on 06/30/2009, -0/+2Will miss you big time in Jersey, VC.
I hope you treat me to a fun playoff run next spring, while the Nets take a trip to Secaucus and the lottery. - msweet153, on 06/30/2009, -1/+3I'm a Celtics fan and I would tend to agree. Lee was a vital part to their run and came up huge in the playoffs. Orlando is basically giving up Turkoglu and Lee for an over the hill Carter. I think most Celtics/Cavs fans would take that.
- MarkMech, on 06/30/2009, -1/+3"Can Vince Carter finally shed label of not enough of a leader or "winner" to help Magic to NBA title?"
I'm going to go with no. - Ne007, on 06/30/2009, -2/+4I'm a Cavs fan and I'm glad Orlando traded for Carter.
They lost a lot of good young talent in exchange for a lot of hype. - BillyB, on 06/30/2009, -3/+4Happy for the dude but it's all about Boston as soon as Garnett comes back. I'm not a Celtics fan, just being realistic.
- inactive, on 06/30/2009, -0/+1I don't think his knee will ever be right. Simmons had a podcast with a health specialist a few months back about how this injury was an odd one for a basketball player with no solid track record of comebacks. Even though I'm a Lakers fan, I hope they come back at full strength and let the best team win.
- m4gic9, on 06/30/2009, -1/+2he'll be good... till his ankle starts magically hurting again
- Jerky1312, on 07/01/2009, -0/+1Team to beat will be the Boston Celtics once again, as long as they don't trade any of the big four. The Magic may have added Carter, but it looks like Turkoglu may be signing elsewhere. Turkoglu was one of their main stars, he was the main play maker and go to the guy at the end of games.
They will still be a contender, with Jameer Nelson coming back healthy and Howard another year experienced. Courtney Lee was also pretty good for a rookie and he would have been even better this coming season. If they can resign Turkoglu, I will say they are right there with the Celtics, but without Turkoglu, I have to say the Celtics are the team to beat. - Ne007, on 06/30/2009, -2/+3haHAAAA!
Orlando lost many of the daggers that killed the Cavs.....plus alot of good young talent.
The Cavs got rid of nothing and got Shaq plus more to come.
-Cavs fan. - inactive, on 06/30/2009, -2/+3Yeah, he did make basketball viable in Toronto - but he also quit because he's a whiny bitch. This dude actually admitted he quit on the team too, which is utterly bad form. Who knows what would have happened if he stayed, tried, and played longer with an emerging Bosh.
- EricDraven, on 07/01/2009, -0/+1@Thetruthpp, it was /s.
@brisketplease, I know what you mean, man. I also miss the times when he would really get up in the air.
The best for me would be this. Jumping over 7'2" Frederic Weis of France in the 2000 Sydney Olympics. I remember watching this and falling out of bed in surprise. Six different camera angles and an excited French commentary.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMrPjl-927Q - dayoldblues, on 06/30/2009, -1/+2"Vince Carter had just found out he had been traded to the Otrando Magic."
I hope he finds much success on planet Otrando. - joncannon, on 07/06/2009, -0/+1Cavs fan since 2003, eh?
- Coercion, on 07/01/2009, -1/+2i think the jefferson move to the spurs is stupidly not getting the recognition it deserves, so much bigger than this trade by far and if the spurs end up bagging rasheed wallace than bye bye western conference
and i'm not even a spurs fan - joncannon, on 07/01/2009, -0/+1Better than trading for a 37 year old Shaq.
- Thetruthpp, on 06/30/2009, -1/+1what does that even mean ??? xD
- brownsound00, on 06/30/2009, -2/+2Fair enough. I'm still pissed at him for the way he left... but I still respect him for what he did for us.
- enozten, on 06/30/2009, -1/+1i hate him and his lazy good for nothing cousin with the passion of 1000 burning suns
douchebags - teamr, on 06/30/2009, -4/+4VC....one of the greatest wasted talent stories ever told. I just hope the magic have another good run next season, because as soon as things begin to look grim is when Carter lets his inner sloth take over and we're forced to watch him complain and moan his way through season after season until he gets traded.
see toronto
see new jersey - st203, on 07/02/2009, -0/+0Thats why they call him half man, half amazing!
- Tejbir32, on 07/01/2009, -1/+0The Jefferson trade is going to more successful
- RiotHeart, on 06/30/2009, -3/+1Because there are 10x as many Orlando haters and fans. Kind of like the hate for Lefraud James
- mizatt, on 06/30/2009, -6/+3If it wasn't for Vince Carter your Raptors would have followed the Grizzlies across the border to *****, Nowhere
