- FlaG8r, on 06/11/2009, -4/+21The real question is how the football program has escaped sanctions
- abhi2223, on 06/11/2009, -0/+16Let the kids go to NBA straight out of High School. One and Done ***** is ruining College Basketball
- woofers07, on 06/11/2009, -5/+19Not the University of Spoiled Children...
- K4Lic0, on 06/11/2009, -0/+12I say give require them to play two years minimum.
- inactive, on 06/11/2009, -2/+7I wouldn't say USC's football team is any dirtier than any others of similar caliber, mainly because pretty much all the major FB teams are so freaking corrupt it's incredible. College football players are the reason the H2 was still being made.
- aralls, on 06/11/2009, -0/+4So the answer is 0 years required or 2 years required, but 1 doesn't work?
- dupems, on 06/11/2009, -0/+3I love how you're getting buried for telling it like it is. People will always hate USC's football program because they are very successful. People love to hate on the successful.
You want to know how they've avoided the sanctions? Because they're clean. Because if investigators had found any evidence of wrongdoing, they'd have gone for the kill faster than you can say loss of scholarships. You don't think there are a lot of people who want to see USC go down? - PxCxG, on 06/11/2009, -0/+2I'm a ucla grad and even I feel bad for usc. They are going to be recruiting players from the frats and IM teams next year...
Next year isn't going to be pretty in the pac10 - pableaux, on 06/11/2009, -0/+1This guy writes like he's telling the story to a buddy in a bar after 5 or 6 drinks. What a hack!
- getatmedigg, on 06/11/2009, -0/+1What about 16yrs playing in MLB and soccer, US and Europe? What about golf? What if you're amazingly gifted like LeBron James or Kobe? Should they have gone to college? I think sports is about an atheletes skill, college is about the degree.
- Bluesky0010, on 06/15/2009, -0/+1If they are receiving any federal or state money, you ass better believe they should be held accountable. STFU.
- d00by, on 06/11/2009, -0/+1I hope by "laws" you didn't mean the federal government making new laws. Let the NCAA pass whatever the hell they want to regulate the schools that want to compete in their league, but Washington has no business regulating college athletics.
- aralls, on 06/11/2009, -0/+1Comparing college athletics to slavery is offensive.
- Khanvalescent, on 06/11/2009, -0/+1(OJ Mayo)
- chrissku, on 06/11/2009, -1/+1There's a relatively simple solution to college recruiting violations.....
In addition to the school being punished,(typically after the coach has already bolted for another school) the NCAA needs to make it so the sanctions also attach themselves to the coach in question and follow him to his next job. That will make schools think twice about hiring these goons. - inactive, on 06/11/2009, -1/+1Tim Floyd is a bad coach and a piece of ***** slime ball and butt boy of Jerry Krause, single handly pushing out Phil Jackson and destroying the Bulls and scaring away Michael and Scottie.
- joebus, on 06/11/2009, -1/+1The University of Arizona dodged a bullet with Floyd turning down the job.
- Bluesky0010, on 06/11/2009, -1/+1delete
- inactive, on 06/10/2009, -1/+1Some one payed for some Juice....
- Bluesky0010, on 06/11/2009, -1/+0Usually the schools that the coaches are from are just as corrupt. They tend to look out for their own. Cover up *****, etc.. Laws need to be enacted that prevent colleges from withholding information on where money goes, what players benefits and what they get etc..
Colleges are getting more corrupt these days, simply because no one is really looking over them and a lot of scumbags are running them. It goes beyond colleges sports as well. Most colleges themselves are corrupt due to the fact their isn't really much regulation for them besides "formalities". - jordanlgta, on 06/11/2009, -4/+2"We're USC. We won national championships in football a few years ago, but we won't win anymore for a long time. We will always be in the running, but we will always screw up in a game near the end of the season."
- Nairebis, on 06/11/2009, -6/+5Sanctions for what? USC has one of the cleanest programs in the nation, especially remarkable for how high profile their players are.
Reggie Bush? There may have been something there, but basically it was Reggie's family who benefited, and SC only found out after Reggie was gone. What, is Carroll supposed to tour his player's family's houses to make sure nothing shady is going on?
People assume that USC must be dirty because of their success, but it's simply not true. - Danomene, on 06/11/2009, -2/+1Buried for the ***** writing job.
- lordmike, on 06/11/2009, -3/+1Student athletes have to wait a year after they transfer to play again... That rule should apply to coaches as well...
- inactive, on 06/11/2009, -4/+1Tim Floyd is garbage, when is he due for his heart attack?
- OhROFL, on 06/11/2009, -5/+1And that's why I'm a UCLA basketball fan.
- mrogi, on 06/11/2009, -9/+3College basketball is a system of slavery that exploits the free labor of mostly black players who generate billions for the NCAA and member schools. The kids do not receive fair free-market financial compensation for their labor and the whole rats nest of cheaters feed off that system. College administrators, recruiters and coaches get rich off the hypocrisy. It started with John Wooden and UCLA way back in the 1960s. Wooden won 10 Championships by using the deep pockets of a man named Sam Gilbert to bribe the best players. The cheating is pandemic throughout college basketball. Players are abused and exploited to make colleges rich. The players would be fools not to take money under the table.
