- inactive, on 06/30/2009, -1/+31I loved that after Ellsbury stole home, everyone just stood around for 5 minutes like "WHAT THE ***** JUST HAPPENED??"
Video: http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090426&a ... - larkins1, on 06/30/2009, -0/+27It's funny how everyone who doesn't like baseball in the first place has to reply in an article about baseball.
- WordsnCollision, on 06/29/2009, -0/+23You sound like a pitcher.
- NJSlacker, on 06/30/2009, -0/+10OK, normally I can't stand baseball, but watching the video of the play put a HUGE grin on my face. (Thanks DLBHunter)
- Nodonn, on 06/30/2009, -3/+11Remember that time Carl Crawford of the Rays stole home? I don't remember anyone even caring then. But Ellsbury does it and this guy jacks off.
- TobiasParker, on 06/30/2009, -0/+7That is only exciting in that you have no idea which team has the puck.
- stevieraveon, on 06/30/2009, -3/+9Thinking of Homer when he's sober at the baseball game..."I never realized how boring this game really is"
- lordmike, on 06/30/2009, -1/+6Yeah, it gets really irritating... especially since a bunch of them are probably soccer fans calling baseball boring... hello, pot, meet mr. kettle!
- DESTROYER2118, on 06/30/2009, -1/+6This reminds me of a well known movie, called The Sandlot.
- Brak710101, on 06/30/2009, -2/+7Yeah, sometimes you can take excitement in watching retards not being able to find the puck.
Come on. That has to be the most sorry excuse ever. Hockey is too fast for some people, but not being able to "find the puck" is a poor reason to call it unexciting. - Rain12913, on 06/30/2009, -1/+5Or someone who is completely unfamiliar with baseball.
- mwerb6, on 06/30/2009, -0/+4The Jet steals home! The Jet steals home!
- AWBoy666, on 06/30/2009, -0/+3Watched it live in Boston with my Dad. We were both standing around for 5 minutes wondering the same thing.
- mwerb6, on 06/30/2009, -0/+3Reminds me of the Matt Christopher book "The Fox Steals Home."
- acdcfanbill, on 06/30/2009, -0/+3...And yet you're named after a kickass thrash band. Tis a shame, that.
- bruin8uclap, on 06/30/2009, -0/+2Gary Matthews Jr. just did it in a game last night but I did not at all agree with it. The batter had 2 strikes on him. Basically, if you are trying to steal home and the pitcher throws a strike right down the middle, you are effectively not allowing your own batter to take a swing at a perfectly placed pitch! It worked out, but Mike Soscia looked pretty pissed and I agreed with him. Sometimes it can be a pretty selfish play.
- dijkstra22, on 06/30/2009, -0/+2Have you ever seen an unassisted triple play? Takes athletic skill and mental prowess, and it's very quick. Grow up.
- iceman219, on 06/30/2009, -1/+3I at first wondered whether the "Fox Steals Home" was some classic baseball tome, like Mickey Mantle's "My Favorite Summer 1956" or Jim Bouton's "Ball Four".
Instead, it is a fiction book of a Little Leaguer targeted to 10 yr olds.
Buried - risk0, on 07/06/2009, -0/+2Babe Ruth stole home 10 times in his career.
- RaiseYourFist, on 06/30/2009, -1/+3I remember watching Vince Coleman steal home against the Cubs many years ago. I'm a big fan of the Cubs, but after watching him run all over them in that game, I became a pretty big fan of Coleman (as a base stealer). He was flat out amazing. In my opinion, Coleman, in his prime, was the best base stealer in the past 50 years (Maybe more than that).
- thegrantman, on 06/29/2009, -12/+14Dugg for Ellsbury.
- JGiansante, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1Oops, missed the second page. Still, I think Werth's steal was more impressive then Ellsbury's b/c it was on the throw back to the mound
- Ajajadude, on 06/30/2009, -0/+1Because even after the Rays went to the WS, people still don't go to their games (even at the beginning of the season)? It's hard to get pumped up for the Rays, especially at home. The worst home crowd I've ever been a part of in baseball.
- JGiansante, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1No mention of Jayson Werth's steal of home on the throw back to the mound??? It happened what...2 weeks? (maybe not even) after Ellsbury's steal
- DephexTwin, on 06/30/2009, -4/+5It was Red Sox-Yankees. I may be going out on a limb here but stealing home in a Devil Rays game (especially back when they were a consistently last place team) just doesn't quite send the same kind of shockwaves throughout the baseball world.
- Ajajadude, on 06/30/2009, -1/+2How about the last "2" minutes of a basketball game? You know, the 2 minutes that ends up lasting 15?
- StubbyClapp, on 06/30/2009, -0/+1The article was written because Getz and Matthews stole home on the same day. Dozens of people have done it, but Ellsbury did it on national TV during MLB's cash cow series so it resonates with people.
As a Jays fan, I could say Aaron Hill did the same thing against Pettitte and it got minimal fan fare, but a game in Toronto doesn't compare to Yanks-Red Sox at Fenway. - larkins1, on 06/30/2009, -2/+2At least you're not alone.
- rickyrinse, on 06/30/2009, -2/+1Rickey Henderson > Vince Coleman
- Brak710101, on 06/30/2009, -4/+2Hockey, too.
- changedmind, on 06/30/2009, -4/+2Even cricket beats watching baseball.
- lewlew20, on 06/30/2009, -7/+2An exciting play in baseball is an oxymoron.
- Th3_anOmoLy, on 06/30/2009, -11/+4Fastest play in baseball? Somehow I'm not impressed.
- jrm125, on 06/30/2009, -17/+8Baseball is boring. It's 8.5 innings (over 2 hours) of boredom with maybe 5 minutes of excitement. Maybe.
- Megadeth222, on 06/30/2009, -10/+1I don't like baseball.
- AlanYuri, on 06/30/2009, -17/+4More like baseball's ONLY exciting play.
Scratch that, all of it is boring as *****. - Chjoma10, on 06/30/2009, -14/+1I stole home on your Mom, WordsnCollision
- BrandonJM, on 06/29/2009, -20/+6There are few plays that can claim the title for the ultimate dick move, but stealing home? That tops the list.
- TobiasParker, on 06/30/2009, -23/+7Still less exciting than any random 15 seconds of any football or basketball game.
