HCG is used to re-stimulate the testicles, primarily in men with a history of steroid use." Sounds like this drug could have a lot to do with steroid use. I think only the very naive think baseball actually has an effective way of testing for all current performance enhancers... so it makes sense that a player would only get caught when dumb enough to use something related to steroids, but not proven to be undetectable by current testing.

In males, it's a drug that will A) restart testosterone production after steroid use halts it. B) Increase testosterone production in normal males.
So either he was using it to clean up his steroid mess, or he was using it for more testosterone.

But when it comes to baseball players, who are notorious for using steroids they don't medically need... when something steroid-related comes up with a baseball player, it's just logical to assume that if it quacks like a duck, it is a duck.
