- floam, on 04/08/2009, -3/+12Scholarship? How is this a "scholar"ship? It's just free entertainment.
These families with children that can't make ends meat could be given something much more rewarding in the long run: actual scholarships for their kids. - OutlawAdidas, on 04/08/2009, -0/+4wat if you're in a wheel chair?
- Tarantulus, on 04/08/2009, -8/+12"every one of their stories would make your knees give"
- BS, everyone of their stories makes me say "hmm, sounds like my life, cept I said 's**t happens and dealt with it" - ThinkRad, on 04/08/2009, -0/+3Big ups to the D-Backs for giving back to their fans. They also dropped normal prices in response to the economy so people could still come out and enjoy the games. I can't wait to try the new $25 all you can eat seats, unlimited Diamond dogs FTW.
- inactive, on 04/08/2009, -0/+3Actually pretty nice gesture on their part to help others in the community
- AZExile, on 04/08/2009, -0/+2Yeah, I heard about those last night. Unlimited food and drink over a 3 hour game!? I mean, I heard $30, but still... when you consider that a hot dog runs you $6 at a game, a pepsi would run you about $5 and a bag of peanuts $4 - you easily make up your losses and get to enjoy the game the way it's meant to be enjoyed.
- AZExile, on 04/08/2009, -0/+2"Baseball surely needs all the fans they can get. It has to be one of the most boring sports out there."
You need to learn *how* to watch it. Baseball is less about watching a sport and more about enjoying an atmosphere, getting a good beer buzz going, eating bar-b-que that you don' t have to worry about missing a bit of game for, and reveling in the wonderful weather of summer. It isn't a game that you *have* to pay such close attention to because one interception can turn the tide of a game. You don't mind if your friends or significant other talks over the game - because really, its just there to be there.
It's not so much of a sport as it is part of summer. - askantik, on 04/08/2009, -0/+1If Kenny *****' Powers was in the real MLB, I'd watch it.
- cis4smack, on 04/08/2009, -0/+1Harsh...LOL
- smrekar, on 04/09/2009, -0/+1Are you crying? There's no crying in baseball! THERE'S NO CRYING IN BASEBALL!!!!
- hardflipsrhard, on 04/08/2009, -0/+1haha, for some reason, after reading that story, 'WOW! what a bunch of LUCKY fans!' wasn't the first thing that came to mind.
- 9bpm9, on 04/08/2009, -0/+1I miss turning to the back page of SI every week to read Reilly's article.
- AZExile, on 04/08/2009, -0/+1It's only two games in. They'll get their act together. 1-1 isn't too bad.
- AZExile, on 04/08/2009, -0/+1the point - you've missed it entirely.
- Hergerstone, on 04/23/2009, -0/+1I don't care much about baseball one way or another.
Unlucky and Diamondbacks are both adjectives describing the fans. Since the fans have to be down on their luck (AKA unlucky) to win the tickets, I thought it might be a better description of the fans who got the tickets.
I guess one could argue that getting the tickets makes them lucky, but I think no job and no money outweighs winning tickets on the Luck-O-Meter :) - malcolmlo, on 04/08/2009, -0/+1I think i almost cried. No really, thats awesome!
- AZExile, on 04/08/2009, -0/+1Well, it would kinda suck if they were for the Marlins, since all of the fans live in Arizona.
- zoethebitch, on 04/08/2009, -1/+1Letting some people sit in an otherwise empty seat in your ball park so they can watch some overweight millionaires play a game is hardly helping "others in the community."
- clgaff, on 04/25/2009, -0/+0Here are some legit scholarship websites I used to pay for college; unless your lucky enough to get a D-Back scholarship.

http://www.usscholarshipguide.org - mtnlion2, on 04/08/2009, -1/+1too bad the tickets are for the diamondbacks
- fupresti, on 04/08/2009, -1/+1I applaud the Diamondbacks for doing something great for the fans.
Doesn't change the fact MLB is a crooked, broken sport and the steroid scandals and ridiculous contracts have ruined the game for a generation of people who grew up loving it. - tmeaster, on 04/09/2009, -0/+0Cool gesture by the D-Backs. It also never hurts to get a little good PR from a story like this (whether that was the intention or not).
- dontreplytome, on 04/08/2009, -0/+0Right on. Scholarships to schools which will help teach the difference between "meat" and "meet."
- phenom2k7, on 04/08/2009, -1/+1Baseball surely needs all the fans they can get. It has to be one of the most boring sports out there.
Also, how in the ***** is this classed as a scholarship? - Hergerstone, on 04/08/2009, -5/+4Unlucky Diamondbacks Fans Receive Season Ticket Scholarships - fixt
