- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Fire Gibbons. He dared Hillenbrand to fight him, now gets in a petty scuffle with Lilly. This is a pathetic manager.
The only positive thing Gibbons ever did was get injured early in his playing career and get replaced by Gary Carter. - illegalchuck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Isn't this Gibbons guy a little too high strung? This is two fights/near fights in one season?
- totorototoro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4that was a weird scene-Lilly wouldn't give him the ball, and it looked like he said "*****" to the manager as he stomped off the mound.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7What is with people constantly commenting to say nothing but "go team!" and worse yet, people modding them up? These comments make no contribution to the threads. It's like commenting in a news thread to just say "USA! USA! USA!"
- cameron074, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I duno about that...I mean the amazins need pitchin, but Lilly? Let's see if zito is available at the end of the year and throw some millions at him.
- cameron074, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2haha 2 points for this man!
seriously though, replace him with the Marlins Girardi(he's gone at the end of the year anyway) and i guarantee the jays will have a better one next year. challenging your players to fights and chasing them through the clubhouse isn't how you manage a team. - BuGz213, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Pitching still sucks as usual, but atleast they fixed the closer, and mid-fielding blows now. Hopefully, they dont trade away Vernon, otherwise they suck all over again.
- CraigB12, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3If you made the wild-card, you would win the division. Don't forget that the wild-card is comming out of the central... the record for that would put you into the division lead.
- jonabyte, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I watched the game, Gibbons nose wasn't bloodied it was the orange gatorade symbol on the towel that the stupid annoucers said was blood. In fact, one of the trainers nose was bloodied.
- santiago1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2 DUDES! That was SUCH and excellent game last night!
Blue Jays did a great job in jumping on top early on in the game and everyone was pretty much ready to call it a game, but then the A's come full speed ahead from behind to take the lead. Toronto again did a great job in trying to regain the lead, but just couldn't hold it together!
THAT'S why baseball is such a great game!
Pity about Lilly and his manager.... Lilly always seemed so quite and reserved. I'm not so sure about Gibbons, though, he sure doesn't look the part of a Manager (calm, thoughtful, methodical mannerism; think LaSorda, Macha, etc.)
- Caulfield, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It was Oakland who they were playing and rallied from 8 runs down to chase Lilly from the game and precipitate the confrontation, so the comment is somewhat relevant.
- CraigB12, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2How could he be angry when he just gave up 7 runs. And, wasn't it the third inning... that puts the Jays in a really bad position.
- 1337geek, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3any relation to peter gibbons?
- illegalchuck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1HA! So it is inaccurate because the two guys who got in the fight deny that it happened? That's funny. The team emptied into the tunnel and various players described the scene as "mayhem." What do you think happened, Mr. Accuracy?
- eMuleDude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Gibbons seems to be one of those dumbass coaches who like to act tough and bully players. The only problem is that when they pick on a player who isn't afraid to fight back, they get their asses kicked. From top to bottom, the Blue Jays are disfunctional team and this idiot has to go along with Ricciardi. I hope Ted Rogers sells the team to someone who actually cares about baseball otherwise the Blue Jays will never be a true contender.
- shmatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1sorry woops
- spunquik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Its strange for Lilly to get so hot tempered.
He's very easy going, shy and calm.
But lastnight, It was better for the whole team if he got off the mound.
If not for Leauge later in the game...the whole game might have been salavaged.
3rd time in Bluejays history they've given up an 8 run lead. - Mace37, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They won the world series and all wanted raises.
I'd like to know what really happened behind the scenes. I think there was probably some pushing but nothing happened. Hopefully Lilly can bounce back from this, he's a good pitcher when it's working for him, his era is low and he's over a K per inning. Too bad he never gets any offence when he's pitching (with the exception of that game). - nikkesen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Only the damn Jays could take a nice 8-0 lead and blow it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I realize Oakland was involved, but what does "LET'S GO OAKLAND" add to the thread? Nowhere on Digg but the Sports section would people get modded up for 3-word all-caps cheers and no other content. To reduce every thread here to being just fan cheerleading is kind of sad.
- MozartKeys, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Once again this shows a lack of respect for authority. If a manager tells you to come out of a game, you come out. If you disagree, you take it like a man and ask him about it later, not in front of everyone.
Of course, the manager, I am sure, is not completely lacking in fault. But I can understand why he got upset, being questioned. - CraigB12, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I think he's trying to light a fire under their asses for having a bad season. Everyone thought they would contend in the division, but they haven't done anything even though Richardi spent like 50 million in the offseason.
- chewbaccapits, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1"The reports that quickly swirled, claiming that the two got into a fight that left Gibbons wiping a bloody nose later in the dugout, were merely rumors, according to the two men involved in the altercation."

Reported as inaccurate.... - splitsixty, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0meh, bluejay's
- speg, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Ugh, Lilly has stunk this lately and is in the middle of blowing an 8 run lead and gets upset when Giby pulls him? I hope he gets the Hillenbrand treatment.
- madholepunch, on 10/12/2007, -10/+6LET'S GO OAKLAND
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1LET"S GO OAKLAND
- Sonduren, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Lilly shouodnt be Mad, i was cussing all day at home when he blew our lead, a 8-0 lead FFS. He has no write to complain that he got pulled, i swear if our pitching was better, and cacine and AJ Burnette did well and didnt get injured this season, we be in the wild card.
Lilly blowed it for us.
His curve ball, and fastball ALWAYS hand in the middle of the plate and he gets run on. - malonie, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1Our Mets needs him. We welcome him anytime with open arm if his available, but then again it all depends on my boy Omar.

What is Digg?
