- KenSPT, on 02/19/2009, -1/+22Citi Field ... bah. I hate corporate named ballparks ...
- AdamaObama, on 02/18/2009, -2/+22Fare thee well, Shea Stadium.
- rikuansem13, on 02/18/2009, -2/+18How sad, I used to live right behind that stadium for 10 years, and saw it everyday. Man, this stinks.
- KrazyGamerHead, on 02/19/2009, -5/+15R.I.P. Shea Stadium, we had some good times together.
Go Mets! - KrazyGamerHead, on 02/19/2009, -0/+7I didn't have to register
- inactive, on 02/19/2009, -0/+6Not to mention the millions of people who takes the 7 train every day to and from work.
- IznastY, on 02/19/2009, -3/+9I grew up in flushing and still live here, Shea will be missed :(
- locondcoco, on 02/19/2009, -1/+7you're a loser. sports is a good thing to get your mind off all the crap that is going on.
- inactive, on 02/19/2009, -1/+7shea it ain't so
- chanop, on 02/19/2009, -0/+5Clear your cache, and try again. NY times tries to only let you see so many articles before trying to dupe you into registering.
- inactive, on 02/19/2009, -1/+6Citi-Field: less seats, higher prices
- Gravey9, on 02/19/2009, -0/+5Slideshow
http://www.nytimes.com/slideshow/2009/02/18/sports ... - Yousty, on 02/19/2009, -2/+7Wouldn't that mean you're technically not named after the stadium but after William A. Shea, the man who brought National League baseball back to New York, since the stadium was named after him?
- SmilinGoat, on 02/19/2009, -4/+9i was named after that field, first name Shea
- inactive, on 02/19/2009, -1/+6You will be very missed by me Shea. I can't believe you're gone...
- inactive, on 02/19/2009, -0/+5What are you talking about?
- ZeeZee2k, on 02/19/2009, -1/+5Real men use steroid.
- SmilinGoat, on 02/19/2009, -0/+4no. i was named after the stadium named after him.
- mattnyc99, on 02/19/2009, -0/+4a little piece of me just died inside
- inactive, on 02/19/2009, -0/+4The final end of an era.
- Gravey9, on 02/19/2009, -0/+4What are you talking about?
Construction started in July of 2006, I don't seem to recall a bailout then.
Do you think stadiums just pop up out of the ground? - inactive, on 02/19/2009, -0/+4And its not blue, it no longer stands out... its so plain and boring looking... like every other buildings in Flushing.
- inactive, on 02/19/2009, -0/+4Sorry there was a lot of history in this stadium. Miracle Mets, the Beatles coming to America. This was a beautiful landmark that is now gone.
- cawpin, on 02/19/2009, -0/+3Since you didn't capitalize that, I'm assuming your apartment is really *****.
- D0nPedro, on 02/19/2009, -0/+3I didn't need a login.
- locondcoco, on 02/19/2009, -0/+3if i were the owner of those cars parked there, i would have thought about parking a little further, y'know, just in case a piece of debris goes flying.
- Eldorian, on 02/19/2009, -0/+3Quit being a bitch and go outside.
- Fleagleman, on 02/19/2009, -1/+4Great! Now, maybe The Mets can begin anew, and stop chocking at the end of the season.
Is anyone else having trouble holding back laughter after reading that? - jefbob, on 02/19/2009, -1/+3Hey, I have many great memories from Riverfront Stadium, just like I am sure these people had good memories of Shea. Why do you have to start getting all negative?
- IpecacNeat, on 02/19/2009, -0/+2Really? It isn't Stadium?
- RavNouS, on 02/19/2009, -1/+3The Mets played there?... I thought it was an aquarium at first glance....
- jshhmr, on 02/19/2009, -0/+2"The Rutles played here, at Shea Stadium, who was named after the famous guerillan leader, Shea Stadium"
- D0nPedro, on 02/19/2009, -0/+2/cry
- superman46n2, on 02/20/2009, -0/+2Mets = choke artists
- SmilinGoat, on 02/19/2009, -0/+1Middle name isnt Shea.
and and my first name is not "William" which most poeple would have picked, considering the guys name was William Shea - bongo, on 02/19/2009, -0/+1Look, all us Mets fans have nostalgia for Shea, but seriously, it was a generic concrete multi-use sports stadium. The new park is going to be much nicer, check out some of the other new parks, like the Phillies have, and you'll see what a difference it is.
The only qualm I have is that the ticket prices are going to go up... - Bchiz, on 02/19/2009, -0/+1Shea was a dump. Good riddance to that ugly stadium. Citi-Field, however does look like a quality sports stadium.
- ajs508, on 02/19/2009, -0/+1wow this last section has ALOT in common with the end of the Mets 2007 season...gotta love it!
- codered1322, on 02/19/2009, -0/+1He means because Citigroup has a 400 million dollar contract to own the naming rights for twenty years and the contract is set to be paid out over those years so in a sense we are paying for the field, or at least the naming rights to it. Although those dollars did not pay directly for the construction it is really ugly that Citi's stadium marketing tactic (wasteful perk) might stick around.
- sammyd253, on 02/19/2009, -4/+5It's a shame that the rest of the Mets franchise didn't go down with it...
Go Phillies :-) - beesaretasty, on 02/19/2009, -0/+1Don't worry. Soon it will be called United States Field when Citi's nationalized.
- seventhc, on 02/19/2009, -1/+2Use bugmenot

you can usually right click on the log in and it will automatically fill it in for you.
It works most of the time, if not, just do it again, it will keep trying as long as it has logins to choose from.
Actually this article doesn't require a log in.
Do you even try? - inactive, on 02/19/2009, -1/+1Oh they forced it on them alright....there's nothing New Yorkers would want more than for the Yankees to just pack up and leave. Tax payers are sick and tired of the greatest sports franchise in the world being a drain on their economy.
- hedgiemaster, on 02/19/2009, -1/+1It's almost like reading the Onion.
- blaxicopurress, on 02/19/2009, -0/+0hopefully they dont pronounce "citi" like the city wok owner on south park.
- kingofinternet, on 02/19/2009, -1/+1is your dad chipper jones?
- uncertainty, on 02/19/2009, -1/+1***** Citi-Field
- D0nPedro, on 02/19/2009, -2/+1Corrupt, greedy, real men who ignored the community's opinion and essentially forced their stadium to be built there by using taxpayer's money.
