- sillygato, on 10/31/2008, -0/+7Okay, that's fine and all. I just hope that next season we don't have to endure some cheesy "Hey Macha-RENA" goofy stadium music every time the team is introduced.
- FreeTalkLIve, on 10/31/2008, -0/+4I thought this was going to be about beer.
/***** - UnglueD, on 10/31/2008, -0/+3It's been official for 22 hours now. They held a press conference 2pm (CST) on October 30th
- golfguy6, on 10/31/2008, -0/+3Agreed CC should stay...Sheets and his injuries can hit the road.
- doctor26d, on 10/31/2008, -1/+4Brewers need to let Sheets go, and throw all their money at CC.
- spence1818, on 10/31/2008, -0/+3*generic comment on the situation that makes it seem like i know anything about sports
- alpha19, on 10/31/2008, -0/+3You could have ... just not read this. ***** douche nozzle.
- blakck, on 10/31/2008, -0/+2Ken Macha may not be a huge name, but baseball fans should know he managed the A's for a few seasons. I think he got them to the ALCS his last year before being fired there.
Not a bad hire for a team that just made their first playoff appearance in like 25 years. - CubFan185, on 10/31/2008, -0/+2As a Cubs fan, I'm glad you didn't get Bob Brenly (he was a rumored possibility). I like him in our booth, and it may have provided a strategic advantage against the Cubs considering he's watched them play every game for a few years now and has a good grasp of their strengths and weaknesses.
- TheMidnight, on 10/31/2008, -0/+2Because there's nothing to do in Wisconsin so we spend all of our time on Digg.
- Treshnell, on 10/31/2008, -0/+2People dugg it, I guess.
- inactive, on 10/31/2008, -0/+2You must be an avid baseball fan
- masona3, on 10/31/2008, -0/+1HOLD YOUR TONGUE.
The Brewers are important. - diggtochina, on 10/31/2008, -0/+1i Wisconsin beer
- golfguy6, on 10/31/2008, -0/+1I second that. You don't like it go back to your pathetic life.
- RealmDown, on 10/31/2008, -0/+1Then it should be buried as inaccurate, since it is no longer "expected."
- thetango, on 10/31/2008, -0/+1Damn ... that sucks. I really liked him on NESN. He had a lot of great insight into the game ....
- dipdog21, on 10/31/2008, -0/+1Those not familiar with Ken Macha he pretty much sucked as the A's manager but he was a great bench coach. Lot's of bad pitching change decisions. Good luck with that...
- Treshnell, on 10/31/2008, -0/+1I agree that Sheets needs to go, but we don't need to throw all our money at CC. There's a lot of talent I'd love to see stick around, even if it means saying goodbye to CC.
- fatefuldreams, on 10/31/2008, -0/+1And you replied...why?
- Tegurit34, on 10/31/2008, -0/+1You can break baseball managers into 3 kinds of groups:
1) The very few who positively impact the standings. (e.g., Mike Scioscia, Lou Piniella)
2) The very few who negatively impact the standings. (e.g., John McLaren)
3) Everyone else.
Macha is right at #3, and since there were no #1s available, good choice for the Brew Crew. Except for the real innovative ones, every manager follows the same book that's been around for decades and regularly puts their best players on the field in their most benefiting situations. The bad ones don't put the best players on the field. Macha can keep the peace in the clubhouse, his players rested, and he cooperates with his superiors and coaches. He doesn't do anything stupid, to my knowledge, and that's all you can really ask for as a GM. - nexah3, on 10/31/2008, -0/+1http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/index.jsp?c_id=mi ...
If you have doubts. - JacksonYaya, on 10/31/2008, -0/+0cheesy "Hey Macha-RENA"
Don't you mean Macha-RENA & Cheese?
BTW, I am a cheesehead so I can say that. Non-cheeseheads can't. - brewerfan, on 10/31/2008, -2/+2Thats funny. Now I got the Machrena stuck in my head.
- idl102, on 10/31/2008, -0/+0The guy is a hard worker, even while he was in-between jobs. His family supports him in this all the way!
- rygoke, on 10/31/2008, -0/+0Thought Ken Macha was passionate about the game. He'd make some gambles but it's all about depth of talent. Guess he'll be better since he wants to maintain his job.
- JacksonYaya, on 10/31/2008, -0/+0Casey Stengel. He could say "can anybody here play this game?" all the time.
- motionone, on 10/31/2008, -2/+1He's a big "MACHA" as the jews would say.
- RealmDown, on 10/31/2008, -2/+1News = "HAVE named Ken Macha"
Gossip = "are expected to name Ken Macha"
Maybe != News
Maybe = Guessing - daleweir, on 10/31/2008, -3/+1Exactly who were the Brewers and Brewers fans expecting to get?
- Trekhawk, on 10/31/2008, -6/+3As a Brewers fan, I think I speak for Wisconsin when I say "who?"
- PeaTearGryphon, on 10/31/2008, -5/+1how the hell did this make the front page?
- masona3, on 10/31/2008, -6/+2Thank you for posting this, trentmonica. I was losing sleep wondering who the Milwaukee Brewers were going to select as their new head manager. I mean, who WASN'T stressing out over this? The Brewers are such an incredible team with a long, rich history... and they've won SO MANY championships.
This actually brings a tear to my eye. Thank God for Ken Macha.
...hey, macha-rena...
What is Digg?
