This would be great!
- Ivy would be replaced with champagne fountain.
- Slot machines instead of Kielbasa carts.
- Roof top apartments could be replaced with 50 story high rise apartments.
- Outdated early 20th century brick wall updated with fresh vinyl siding.
I can't see anything that could go wrong!- EAMUS1CATULI, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4"The Tribune Company is reportedly considering selling the struggling team." This is in wrong the Tribune Company is not selling the Cubs plain and simple. Tust me they are not selling.
- Cubsguru, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Yah, they're definately not selling. It's the only thing keeping the Tribune company afloat about now.
- catfud, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6the Cubs is the most
profitable thing that the tribune company owns
plus I once heard Mark Cuban on Opie and Anthony say the only other baseball team he would wanna buy besides the pirates is the cubs
if the tribune was going to sell the cubs i would hope (as a cubs fan) that he would get it and finally make a good team instead of this lets rely on 2 pitchers who have only pitched one good season ***** - Atomic1fire, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1in other news donald trump is a living money tree and has the root of all evil
(that was a joke money the root of all evil hes a living money tree) lamest comment ever but whatever - Atomic1fire, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1another lame joke
in other news donald trump will make a tv show called The Baseball Player Looking for better players on national tv - radixus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You forgot to add . . . another venture for him to loose even more money!
He would probably rename the team the Chicago Trumps and go as far as renaming the stadium Trump Field. He's named everything else he owns after him. - MilitantQueer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Please... NO! NO! NO! ...
Trump wants to turn Chicago into the new "Atlantic City" ... Trump is a dirty rotten *****-bag - bDreadz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1mmmmm *****-bag.
- cubs2234, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0PLEASE buy the cubs from the Trib! at least the Donald wouldnt be afraid to go out and put a somewhat decent team together.
-go cubs
- chubbymidget, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3I believeTrumps worth has always been overly-hyped to the point he'd be unable to the sole or large majority owner.
- pythonkiss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1True. His USFL franchise did end up in disaster the last time he entered this business. "Because he had been so incredibly successful, he began to think that any business he touched would turn to gold" - from George Ross' book "Trump Strategies for Real Estate"
The more successful you are, the more ego you develop. He has a lot of it, and gladly admits it. Ego made him vulnerable last time, and now history's repeating itself. Coming back to my point; despite his interest in sports, he should stick to what he does best. Firing people. lol.

shuzak.com - romeyinfc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah this would be bad: Not only would the Cubs continue to be terrible, but with Trump they'd be bankrupt as well!
- wicked9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17Dusty Baker, you're fired
- ffingers, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4PLEASE tell me this isn't so...being a Chicagoian, and a die-hard cubbie fan ("wait til next year")....it would just feel wrong to not have the tribune company owning the cubs! beyond that, i wouldn't trust trump.....no way no how....who knows what cockamamie scheme he would try to use to make money.....oh man...the horror....the horror!!!
- Cubsman44, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Any real cubs fan hates the Tribune ownership
- thechitowncubs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3dadis cubsman44
- ffingers, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2it's not a matter of hating the trib ownership...it's just the history man....!!! and don't try to characterize my fanatical cubbie nature by whether or not i like the trib, or i like hendry, or baker....i hate it when people try to do that....ehhhh...whatever....
wait til next year!! - xlocust, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@cubsman
Words well typed my friend. - lofiboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3If the Tribune Company is so great, how come they're just fine with the Cubs being 20 games under .500?
Go for it, Trump. At least you don't have any quarrels with spending a few dollars. - poonannie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0History? The Tribune has only owned the Cubs for a little over 20 years. As stated above, real Cubs fans hate the Tribune ownership as all they care about is money and not winning (which would bring even more money). No one would want Trump as the owner for the same reason. Cuban on the other hand is the best owner in all of pro sports. What fan wouldn't want their team to be owned by him? Never gonna happen, get used to the Trib not giving a crap.
- daworld, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Let me guess, if Trump buys a baseball team NBC will once again think its a good idea to make an Apprentice show about it. Let me guess, The Apprentice: Search for the Next Sosa
- Toon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Knowing this guy's affinity with his own name, people better get ready to hear this, "Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome your Trumpcago Trumps."
- kevin45, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2With whos money?
- Krayzie_Bone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1The Tribune company never spends money. I bet Trump would want be like George. Im a cubs fan and I think I like it but I hate Trump
- qaddafi, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3I've been a Cubs fan ever since Kerry Wood joined the club and made those 21 strike outs. I want to see the Tribune Company still have ownership of the Cubs when they get to the World Series and win. (Yeah, it seems hard now with Wood still injured and possible closer for next year and Prior still struggling....) Oh well there is always next year (haha)
I'm calling it, Cubs World Series Champs in '08 !- Cubsman44, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4It was 20 K's and the cubs will not win a WS as long as the Tribune Company is a owner
- cwl157, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1i've been saying 08 for a while 100 years after the last one its the only thing that makes sense.
- catfud, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Kerry wood wont b a closer
he cant even pitch every 5 days how is he going to pitch 3 days in a row?
they need to get rid of Kerry and trade prior while he may still have some value even tho he has pitched like ***** this year and is on the DL again - xlocust, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Kerry Wood Will be lucky if he even has a MLB Baseball career next year. As for the tribune, they will never sell. Poor Cubs =(
- IwahnTabier, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Trump is broke, he can't buy the Cubbies
- cwl157, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i don't want trump to buy the cubs because it would just be for the money the same reason the tribune company bought them and won't sell them. Mark Cuban would be my choice for a new owner because he likes to win unlike all these other idiots who just want money.
- Mace37, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Cuban's too busy trying to buy the Penguins. They seem to have a lot more potential right now than the Cubs.
- RoyHobbs, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The shi**y Trib is not selling, Cuban wanted the team eariler this year also. Trump should stay in NY, Chicago is not a Trump kind of town. Anyway the Trib will never sell the Cubs, which sucks because the Cubs will never win a WS with them as the owner.
- caboosemoose, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wow, spectacularly idle speculatation.
- danakin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Can't hurt the Cubbies....
/chicagoan - dtpollitt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4From a third generation Cubs fan that attends spring training every year and many games: It really does not matter who owns this team for the next five years. Our farm system is one of the worst in baseball, the current team is comprised of over-the-hill "Dusty Baker" players a la Tony Womack, Neifi Perez, Phil Nevin, and Todd Walker, and as much as it pains me to say this, Wood most likely will not be in a Cubs uniform come 2007. Prior is still young and can possibly be salvaged. The entire team needs to be revamped, save Carlos Zambrano and Derrek Lee (possibly Juan Pierre and Aramis Ramirez), and start fresh. This team is no where near a championship; ouch, that hurts me. For the best Chicago Cubs info on the web, check out a fantastic site:
http://www.bleedcubbieblue.com- CraigB12, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Hence the reason the redsox are so good... the farm system is one of the best in baseball. We're just now seeing how well the drafts have gone for the red sox as they have 4 rookie pitchers and a second year first baseman. The yankees on the other hand are the complete opposite, which is what i feel like the Cubs would be if Trump owned the organization. He would basically compete with Big-Stein for the biggest ass in baseball.
- catfud, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Todd Walker is good
he isnt a Dusty boy
his on base % is way to high
dusty loves guys who dont walk
then need to get rid of everone but DLee, Barret, and Big Z and start over
everyone else should be on the block to try to improve the team
- caboosemoose, on 10/12/2007, -11/+1Oh, and baseball is a ***** sport. Please bury me.
- thecommish, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The Cubs could use all the help they can get.
- supremo13, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1The Cubs arn't cursed, Wrigley Field is cursed.
- CraigB12, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Yeah, the Cubs aren't cursed... they're just bad lol
- dvdd127, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Being bad.. and being Cursed are two different things.
As for Trump wanting to buy the Cubs.. this is old news. One to Two months ago there were rumors going around the Mr.Cub himself was intrested. Then when he was interviewed on CSN he said that two groups of investors one headed by Trump and the other headed by former NYC Mayor Rudy Guliani contacted him with intrest in buying the team. Dont remember what he said he told them.
I highly doubt the Tribune would sell... unless people start not going to games. - NSMike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They wouldn't be the Cubs anymore. They would be the Chicago Trumps.
- j00fek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1he has the $$$....
- rYno, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I'm more leaning towards the opinion of... I don't want Trump to buy them because I don't want to lose the history, the tradition, wrigley field. I don't want the Cubs to sellout to a corporate entity like most teams have... or the new teams built with money and corporate sponsorship.
Wrigley is the only place where there's an original field, and good times. We have the best fans anywhere and will stick by the Cubs no matter what, but if they sell out and go corporate - a big piece of my life will go away... that wouldn't be cool. - commiecat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1He doesn't have to buy the team - just pitch for them. I bet even Donald Trump could pitch more innings over 5 years than Wood & Prior combined. Actually, they just put Lee back on the DL so perhaps Trump's son could play a bit of first.
Trump buying them would be a horrible thing, though. I'm no huge Cubs fan but I do appreciate the tradition of the club and their stadium. It would be a travesty if he made the purchase and renamed Wrigley to Trump Field or some crap - and then overcharge fans for his Trump Ice water and crap. Boo to Trump owning the Cubs. - jwk3114, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Trump does not have the money to buy and run a MLB team. He is so much in debt, I don't know how he gets anything built. He lives on borrowed money.
- slang75, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Oh god NO! Then again...seeing him give the trade marked "you're fired" to Dusty would be a welcome sight.
- rasterbator, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1maybe his cash could buy an antidote for the curse. getting rid of dusty basker would be a good start.
