- NeoNevermore, on 04/04/2008, -0/+66As a Mets fan, it would be MY pleasure to Rickroll the Mets.
- passiverebel, on 04/04/2008, -11/+2I thought a rickroll had to be unexpected.
- TheSupafly, on 04/04/2008, -0/+36You really think the thousands upon thousands of people that will be attending these games all read digg and will be expecting it?
- passiverebel, on 04/04/2008, -4/+0No, I just think that the song will be announced before hand.
- passiverebel, on 04/05/2008, -3/+0Even if the specific song isn't announced, people are still expecting a sing-a-long to an unannounced song. Having the unannounced song be "Never gonna give you up" isn't the same as interrupting a basketball game with a Rick Astley song, or interrupting a LaLa shower video for a Rick Astley music video.
- TheSupafly, on 04/04/2008, -0/+36You really think the thousands upon thousands of people that will be attending these games all read digg and will be expecting it?
- eoncire, on 04/04/2008, -7/+62I just posted this to MySpace (i know, lame but lots of people there....)
So, anyone that is hip on internet trends probably knows what im talking about. If you dont, listen up. "Rick Rolling" someone is basically posting a link to something but it actually takes you to another site, typically YouTube, that is playing Rick Astleys ***** lame song "Never Gonna Give You Up".
Example: Hey guys, i saw this video of a totally hot chick getting freaky on youtube. Check it out!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBGIQ7ZuuiU
So, the NY Mets are casting a vote to see which song gets played for the "Fan Singalong" in the 8th inning of EVERY HOME GAME. Follow this link.......
http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/nym/fan_forum/singalon ...
......and vote for " Never Gonna Give You Up - Rick Astley"
It will ask you for a name, email address and telephone. Just put something bogus in there. Use some of the zip codes and area codes below for help. If your still stuck, check here for help - http://www.fakenamegenerator.com/

- 8ight, on 04/04/2008, -3/+17No. Thanks eoncire for saving me time looking that up. Stop being jack off mydigga.
- WalkerTXclocker, on 04/04/2008, -5/+1I just look up a business in Google Maps and use their info
- mydigga, on 04/05/2008, -7/+2You need to go to website to generate a fake name and zip code? Do you go to wipemyass.com when you finish going to he bathroom? And if you need an explanation of what a Rick Roll is you probably shouldn't be participating... so what was it you had to look up fill out the form?
- 8ight, on 04/05/2008, -0/+6I was greatful for the zip and area codes. The name generator was a nice addition. Correct zip/area codes help ensure your vote will be counted. And he wasn't explaining to _us_ what a Rick Roll is. Cheer up mydigga.
- 8ight, on 04/04/2008, -3/+17No. Thanks eoncire for saving me time looking that up. Stop being jack off mydigga.
- xptoast, on 04/04/2008, -0/+2I can modify my google adwords ad to link to instructions on how to do this if you think that might be funny. What keywords would we use though?
- mbonnin, on 04/04/2008, -3/+29Dugg down for calling Never Gonna Give You Up a "***** lame song".
- mraustin1337, on 04/04/2008, -2/+6Same here.
- mrbradg, on 04/05/2008, -0/+4I agree but I thank him for explaining this whole thing. I had no clue. Digg me down I don't care. Been busy at work.
- sdix00, on 04/07/2008, -0/+0Clicked on the link and it says "Thanks for voting". Is the voting closed or r i rtard?
- mydigga, on 04/04/2008, -22/+4Thank goodness you are here to help us all use the internets...
- coachmcguirk, on 04/04/2008, -16/+4Actually, the Mets are a sports team, not a city...
don't mean to nitpick, but there is kind of a big difference...- seventoes, on 04/04/2008, -0/+36What are you talking about? I live in the Mets.
- foofightrs777, on 04/04/2008, -2/+3I live in the NY METropolitan area. So the OP wasn't too far off actually.
- coachmcguirk, on 04/04/2008, -6/+2That is not who is going to be potentially rick rolled, though.
This isn't an attempt to rick roll the NY METropolitan area, it's an attempt to rick roll those attending NY Mets sporting events.
- coachmcguirk, on 04/04/2008, -6/+2That is not who is going to be potentially rick rolled, though.
- drizzlelicious, on 04/04/2008, -1/+8 Your vote has been cast! Thank you for participating.

- mrlivingston, on 04/04/2008, -0/+15I'm a lifelong Mets fan...and I endorse this message!
- RobotChicken1, on 04/04/2008, -16/+1You guys realize this was a hit song in the 80s... right?
- JCougar, on 04/04/2008, -0/+7You obviously don't get it.
- buryyourhead, on 04/04/2008, -0/+7Rusty Shackleford has voted...and has also just ordered a pizza.
- t0ken, on 04/04/2008, -0/+2Dale? Is that you?
- heypetray, on 04/04/2008, -0/+2I would hope they wouldn't discard out of state votes. That would be lame whenit's a national level team.
- nite002, on 04/04/2008, -12/+1Who the ***** is Rick Roll?
- theaceoffire, on 04/04/2008, -0/+5You don't know? Well, even so, he is never gonna give you up, let you down, turn and desert you.
- t0ken, on 04/04/2008, -0/+3All I have to say is http://youtube.com/watch?v=Yu_moia-oVI
- ophello, on 04/05/2008, -0/+1welcome to the internet, loser.
- GregFD3S, on 04/05/2008, -0/+1Wow, welcome to the internets.
- notanidiot, on 04/06/2008, -0/+1Here dude, I'll explain it. Rick Roll is a big round ball shaped dude that rolls around causing mischief. One of the things he does to people all the time is surprise them by making them listen to or see the Rick Astley song, 'Never Gonna Give You Up." Its funny, because everyone has heard the song, but noone realizes the dude is a nerdy little white guy, who dances like a fag. So it kind of ruins the song for everyone, and at the same time repopularizes it.
Actually, according to wikipedia (shut up, haters, I believe the wiki on this one), the process was originally called duckrolling, and you used to post a fake link to something, and people would click on it expecting to see some information pertaining to the discussion, but would instead be linked to a picture of a duck on wheels, hence the name "Duckrolling."
Now its called "Rickrolling" because people do the same thing, just with the Rick Astley video, instead of the duck on wheels.
- rossnyc, on 04/04/2008, -0/+4I get Rick Rolled enough...what's another 5 times when I go to a Mets game?

- notanidiot, on 04/06/2008, -0/+2Other than Ron Paul winning the prehehesidehency, aaaahhahahaha! Its too funny!
- klipseracer, on 04/05/2008, -0/+9This was already done at Key Arena for the seattle super sonics. I cast my vote anyway because it was really funny. I realize its basketball and not baseball, but here's the halftime show: http://youtube.com/watch?v=oHg5SJYRHA0

- dhess, on 04/04/2008, -2/+21Done. This really is a fitting song, seeing as how this is their last season at Shea Stadium... Never gonna give it up, though the Mets often let everyone down.
- MetaMars, on 04/04/2008, -2/+2Done.
- BigLLamasHouse, on 04/04/2008, -0/+33Someone somewhere in the Mets organization is getting a pat on the back for their idea to put the sing-a-long vote on the website. "Wow James, great job. We never thought we would have this kind of response."
- chanop, on 04/04/2008, -1/+10Made it to top of top ten in under an hour, the mets are gonna be pissed

- godfa7h3r, on 04/05/2008, -0/+6I have never been to Shea Stadium, will probably never go, and I honestly don't really like the Mets. But I really want to say I was apart of this.
VOTED! - DemonWasp, on 04/05/2008, -4/+2Hmmm... I nearly (98%) finished a program to submit votes in favour of the Great Rick Astley using random names (from the website noted in other comments), before realizing just how unethical it would be to use a program to submit dozens of a votes a second.
I was going to post it, too, until I realized that's probably something like incitement. Dammit, stupid laws, I just wanted to rickroll several hundred thousand people! - swern425, on 04/05/2008, -3/+1Done. Go Phils!
- asurroca, on 04/05/2008, -0/+2Done! Copypasta'd... even put my real info there too... I wish they called me so I could make up a convincing story as to why Never Gonna Give You Up is the best song they could play this season...
- cruzer2727, on 04/05/2008, -0/+2Done! Pass it on diggers.

- thecheat1, on 04/04/2008, -9/+185Voted, hope to God this works out.
Also used "Never Gonna Give You Up - Rick Astley" in "Other"- CrazyDEX, on 04/04/2008, -0/+4We'll have to teach Cow Bell Man how to play it
- XombieRobot, on 04/04/2008, -0/+4I hope this doesn't die off once it leaves the front page. Any suggestions to keep it alive?
- XristosAnesti, on 04/05/2008, -0/+7Resubmit every time it leaves the front page, and get it dugg up again...continuously for the next three days!
- Pritchard, on 04/05/2008, -0/+4I, as a Digg user, shall permit this to occur until we win.
- iNunchuk, on 04/05/2008, -0/+1I second that notion, anyone resubmit the article yet?
- XristosAnesti, on 04/05/2008, -0/+7Resubmit every time it leaves the front page, and get it dugg up again...continuously for the next three days!
- tetfsu, on 04/05/2008, -0/+1If this works it will be awesome, but I have a feeling that the sudden number of votes for Rick is going to set-off some alarms and they'll disqualify all votes for it, even though it is truely the will of the people to have Rick sing in the 8th. We'll all wait and see.
- ifoundthetao, on 04/04/2008, -61/+7Man, I hope this goes though. The funny part about it, will be that it will be so unfunny later on when it gets adopted as part of the show and the rickroll gets forgotten. (:
- daRoach, on 04/04/2008, -4/+24Thumbs down for not understanding the concept of irony.
- BigLLamasHouse, on 04/04/2008, -0/+7yeah dude, thatll still be funny in my book
- Dr00pieS, on 04/04/2008, -10/+112Voted. At least this way, the Met's will get some sort of press.
- Cronikeys, on 04/04/2008, -0/+9I can see the headlines now: "Fans sing 'Never Gonna Give You Up' as they say goodbye to Shea Stadium. Some teams still know how sing-a-longs are done."
- sloppychris, on 04/04/2008, -3/+2The Mets see more coverage than 95% of the rest of the league. Don't feel too sorry for yourself.
- sgtbutterscotch, on 04/04/2008, -0/+17Yeah because the Mets didn't get any press with the acquisition of Johan Santana. I bet you and anyone who dugg you up doesn't know anything about baseball. But that's ok, we're all here for one purpose: to pull off the greatest RickRoll to date. Can we just do that without make snarky, uninformed comments? No? Alright, guess I can live with that.
- Dr00pieS, on 04/04/2008, -3/+1At least this way, they will get some sort of press.
- defectDS, on 04/05/2008, -1/+1oh boo hoo.
- headphonz, on 04/04/2008, -0/+4Oh my God, just the idea of the whole stadium getting up, gyrating, and everyone singing "never gonna give u up, never gonna let you down" just makes me cry with laughter!
After the 10th time, the whole stadium will be cheering before the song even comes on. There'll be a stampede as fans run back to their seats from the bathroom just to sing along!- getisboy, on 04/05/2008, -0/+1That's how it is in Boston with Sweet Caroline
- ostracize, on 04/04/2008, -2/+194It fits the theme too. The final season at Shea Stadium and everybody's singing "Never gonna give you up!"
- dinobot, on 04/04/2008, -3/+43I was hoping more people would digg this up. I already casted my vote, and fark is using their own base of users to do the same. I wish I wasn't at work so I could see if 4chan is doing its thing as well.
- HiKevinRose, on 04/04/2008, -4/+18Cast works as past tense. "The fisherman cast the line." No ed ending required.
- sparrowkc, on 04/04/2008, -0/+1There was a thread on there, it might be dead though.
- Slainna, on 04/04/2008, -3/+4I saw a thread on 4chan yesterday that was actually doing pretty well on this
- HawkeyeMatt, on 04/04/2008, -0/+4Slainna is correct, it's great seeing both sites doing this though!

- dmbfan2007, on 04/04/2008, -4/+69My name is apparently Rick Astley, I live at some random address, and my email is nevergonnagiveyouup@rickastley.com

- weeeezzll, on 04/04/2008, -0/+4111xx will covers most of West Queens, which is where the stadium is at.
other area codes of interest are:
646
347
516 - sansri88, on 04/04/2008, -0/+5Jersey codes should also work. 732, 908, 201, maybe 609.
- AlKo, on 04/04/2008, -0/+2973 and 551 will also work to mask yourself as a Jersey fan.
- iPood, on 04/04/2008, -0/+1201...represent.
- cave, on 04/04/2008, -8/+20My favorite dummy zip code to use is 90210.
- ligyron, on 04/04/2008, -0/+11I use that one everywhere, just because it's the only real US zip code I know. Random numbers don't usually work
- IncogMosqui, on 04/04/2008, -3/+1thats funny, because it isn't a real zip code.
The zip code for WeHo is 90212 - mnoe, on 04/05/2008, -0/+1I live in L.A., and it is real.
- IncogMosqui, on 04/04/2008, -3/+1thats funny, because it isn't a real zip code.
- magicaltrevor, on 04/04/2008, -0/+1Thanks, Eddy Murphy!
- BogusJimmy, on 04/04/2008, -0/+5As an Australian, that's the only zip code I know. And my US iTunes account has the address and phone number of a random business I looked up using google maps. I googled "Paper Supply Company" in "Scranton, Pennsylvania" and it found one.
- cave, on 04/05/2008, -0/+1How did you manage to get past the credit card verification process? I want an US iTunes account too :(
- ChromaVita, on 04/05/2008, -0/+2Wait... The Scranton branch of a paper company? Sounds familiar...
- spankr, on 04/05/2008, -0/+1I like 04401 - I grew up with that cross-border number here in Nova Scotia...
- Aerandir, on 04/05/2008, -2/+2Is also the name of a ***** 90's TV series starring some ***** "stars" like Jason Prestley...
God I hate that show... - Teh_Shiz, on 04/05/2008, -0/+1Mine Too =D
- ligyron, on 04/04/2008, -0/+11I use that one everywhere, just because it's the only real US zip code I know. Random numbers don't usually work
- BeSublime, on 04/04/2008, -1/+4It would probably work out best to have 20-30% outside of NY zip codes, so it will look normal statistically...
- MasterSpy, on 04/04/2008, -0/+0The traffic will look suspicious if most of the requests are not from New York. The varied codes will work well. Will the Mets catch onto this? Even if they do catch onto this then what can they do to stop it [rhetorical]?
- spydirweb, on 04/04/2008, -0/+2Your logic then dictates that the Mets have absolutely 0 (zero) fans outside of the the Queens area. I mean, personally I'm a bosox fan but that does that mean I live in Boston exclusively?
- defy, on 04/04/2008, -0/+111232 also works.
- unfinite, on 04/04/2008, -0/+2I used the UN phone number and area code. The UN loves baseball, I think it sucks. Knowing that I played a part in this, when it gets put up on youtube, will make me happy.
- GianDoe, on 04/05/2008, -0/+111206, 10028, 10029, 10004 and pretty sure it goes 10005, 6, 7, etc...
- Jenadae, on 04/05/2008, -0/+1117XX is long island and the area codes are 516 and 631
- Brakamow, on 04/05/2008, -0/+1Make sure to use normal looking or at least semi baseball-esque addresses too. Unfortunately, spam@nunya.biz isn't going to fly this time.
- antiorblkflag9, on 04/05/2008, -1/+2What happens when more people vote then there are in the Mets's area?
- chlupululuu, on 04/05/2008, -0/+2 the mets are in new york... digg and the other sites doing this combined probably dont have enough people for that to happen, you would need like 9 million people to vote

- toejamz, on 04/04/2008, -10/+1Interesting, how "Rick Roll" has taken a life of its own completely outside its original association with Anonymous vs. Scientology.
"Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down" is a reference to Lisa McPherson who died while under the care of Scientology's "Introspection Rundown", as in WE aren't going to let her down...
Strange how these things happen...- choopie911, on 04/04/2008, -0/+9Uh... You think the rick roll started with anon vs scientology? You sir are talking out of your ass, and clearly don't have a clue what this is about...

Sorry fellas. I will actually have to endure the song that's chosen and as much as I love the Rickroll, it's already starting to get old.- NoOneButMe, on 04/04/2008, -20/+1Same here, but Movin Out by Billy Joel.
- blahtastic, on 04/04/2008, -0/+8I saw that on there and wondered who in the hell would vote for that at a baseball game. You, apparently. I get that it's called movin out, but come on.
- PetroSan, on 04/04/2008, -0/+3Sweet Caroline is by the far the most fun to go along with at a stadium though imo
