- BXRWXR, on 10/06/2008, -2/+19The White Sox called, they said your theory is *****.
- spikyvashy, on 10/05/2008, -4/+18the bulls suck too don't forget them
- ethanator1088, on 10/05/2008, -3/+17I thought this was going to be the year of Chi Town. I was pulling for em.
- butfaktree, on 10/05/2008, -1/+13Hey just be glad you're not a Seattle sports fan. I get to root for the worst AL team who blew 117 million to lose 101 games. We've lost our NBA team. UW and WSU football cant get much worse. And the Seahawks are quickly turning into a big disappointment too. The only thing we get to root for lately is Ichiro getting 200+ hits every year!
I was rooting for Lou and Griffey, and even that didn't work out. I even rooted for Jamie Moyer and he just got the loss with the Phillies omg. I think this is all my fault.
Root. - walkable, on 10/06/2008, -1/+13Why did this article make the front page? It was written before either team was eliminated, and that's just lame.
For the record, the White Sox are not done yet. They are also starting their most consistent pitcher today, Gavin Floyd (17-9), and are playing at home where they had an outstanding record. I'm not saying they're going to win for certain, but they lost the first two games in Tampa Bay where the Rays have been nearly unbeatable.
Go White Sox!! - ajs508, on 10/05/2008, -4/+16I am a Phillies fan and it was still disappointing to see the Cubs fall the first 2 games :(
- f4nt0m4s, on 10/06/2008, -0/+9You can come up with all the excuses you want, but at the end of the day the Sox came out on top and the Twins didn't.
- Pandalume, on 10/06/2008, -0/+8Everyone is marveling at how the Cubs choked, but really, I don't think it was that surprising. The Cubs played .500 ball in September while the Dodgers played .680 ball. The Cubs had cooled off considerably since being labeled the "Best Team in the NL", and the Dodgers were one of the hottest teams in the NL. We should have seen this coming.
Still, it's very disappointing to me (as a Cubs fan) that we didn't put up more of a fight. - f4nt0m4s, on 10/06/2008, -0/+7The White Sox are still alive last time I checked. The Sox relied on the long ball to win games during regular season, it's not so easy to hit home runs during post season.
- hmmmok, on 10/06/2008, -0/+7You mean 3 nights.
- ajs508, on 10/05/2008, -3/+10only if Jack Sparrow comes to your rescue!
- BXRWXR, on 10/06/2008, -3/+9The Cubs are full of fail, you should know better.
- DiggasWAttitude, on 10/06/2008, -0/+5When you get trounced 44-6 and 48-14, hawks and dawgs respectively, the fall rain is that much colder and wetter.
And no one else gets the pleasure of complaining, either. That's our city's thing. Coffee, computers and complaining. Everyone else can eat our collective non-winning, no basketball having, superstar trading, dicks. - petebot, on 10/06/2008, -2/+6I guess this was written before the Bears' 34-7 win on Sunday...
- whoaohh, on 10/06/2008, -0/+4White Sox > Cubs
always. - jarjarwang, on 10/06/2008, -3/+7The Sox will win this series.
- awtripp, on 10/06/2008, -0/+4It was followed up by "Detroit Sports: Red Wings and nothing else"
- SneakyNinja, on 10/06/2008, -3/+7Go Chi-Sox!
- petethepanda, on 10/06/2008, -3/+7Chicago teams not great in '08?
Blackhawks season starts in just a few days, baby. Booyah. - hmmmok, on 10/06/2008, -1/+5Ehh, the Lions ?
- StripeyMagee, on 10/05/2008, -6/+10Go Rays!
- ronaldinho, on 10/06/2008, -0/+4Buried. I thought there would be statistical analysis and deeper insight instead of the very obvious.
Cubs deserve to get swept because they just played really bad. There is nothing else to blame. Putrid offense, bad fielding (game 2), and just OK pitching won't get you far.
Dodgers, on the other hand, were superb too. Kudos to them. - inactive, on 10/05/2008, -4/+7Cubs got raped in the face. 9 times in a row.
- dmanmax99, on 10/06/2008, -0/+2Then it's a good thing the White Sox didn't move down to Tampa in the 70's.
- rayskin, on 10/06/2008, -0/+2Bears are in first place
- jcharak58, on 10/06/2008, -0/+2NO POLITICS IN A SPORTS THREAD!!!
- Boagrius, on 10/06/2008, -3/+5Ha, typical bitchy Cubs fan.....
- HereticKings, on 10/06/2008, -3/+5It took an entire article to say that the Cubs suck?
- Hetman, on 10/06/2008, -3/+5I will be crying for the next 6 months. The next time anyone is going to hear from me will be on opening day at wrigley. Peace
- incognit0, on 10/06/2008, -0/+2You have no idea what you're talking about..
- ceredron, on 10/06/2008, -1/+3At least you ***** aren't from Ohio. All of my teams suck. College FB, FB, Baseball, and Hockey. Hopefully the Cavs will get something done, but we don't get our hopes up.
- jazzfunkblues, on 10/06/2008, -0/+2Sox are going to win today and force a game 5. They're not dead yet. Anything can happen in Game 5, but they don't play well in domes, so I'll say Rays in 5.
- mizunoX, on 10/06/2008, -0/+2I strongly disagree.
Toews, Kane, Sharp.. the hawks look like a team that will be very dangerous for a while to come.
See TSN's analysis here: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=248923 - Hetman, on 10/06/2008, -0/+2If you knew me, lovable would be the last thing you would describe me since saturday.
- jcharak58, on 10/06/2008, -2/+4isn't two Chicago teams making the playoffs (out of a total of 8 spots) mean that Chicago is pretty solid right now?
- BXRWXR, on 10/06/2008, -0/+2Later, you lovable loser.
- rayskin, on 10/06/2008, -1/+3The Cubs are lovable losers.
The Sox win in cycles.
----
Bulls, god knows what happened to them. Last year was supposed to be our year. Damn kids blew it.
The Bears, they are in first place. - inactive, on 10/06/2008, -0/+2EPIC FAIL!!!
- inactive, on 10/06/2008, -0/+2no! we got a Lingerie Football team!! the gods have answered my prayers!!!
- Rileyman6678, on 10/06/2008, -1/+3Harry Carrie just rolled over in his grave.
- ronaldinho, on 10/06/2008, -0/+1I don't know. Cubbies didn't put up much of a fight. Can't really they were getting raped when they are simply getting bending over
- intrepidDesign, on 10/06/2008, -0/+1Thank you.
- inactive, on 10/06/2008, -0/+1what a bunch of whiners....I live in Seattle...IT CAN BE WORSE THAN HERE!!!!
Mariners suck - check
Seahawks suck - check
Huskies suck - check
Sonics GONE! - check
We got a Lingerie football team!!! YEEEE HAAAA! - ThinkRad, on 10/06/2008, -0/+1Fine, *****. John Ellis Bush. Still a tool shed and a miserable governor.
- BXRWXR, on 10/06/2008, -0/+1Ahh, the sweet smell of butthurt.
- rsbryswrrl, on 10/06/2008, -0/+1So I guess this means Obama will definitely win the election. 2004 Kerry loses - Red Sox win. 2008 Chi Sox lose - Obama wins!!!
- cuevas4711, on 10/06/2008, -1/+2The server wasn't so great either...
- partrow, on 10/06/2008, -0/+1Maybe not enough innings in the 9th, or maybe they didn't play well in the 4th quarter before the timeouts and overtime. I just love this baseball entertainment. I cannot wait until the next game so I can count the number of times the entertainers spit.
- sw1ft, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1Like I said...
- petethepanda, on 10/06/2008, -1/+2You must have missed last season then.
We lost a bunch of games in February when nearly all of our big guns were injured, and yet we still came within a couple points of a playoff spot. Not to mention having the two best rookies in the league, and going from a decade of hilariously low attendance (and performance) to nearly every game after Christmas being sold out in one season. -
