- inactive, on 05/03/2008, -5/+77The web has evolved a lot since powerpoint slideshows. Learn about it.
- fahrvergnuugen, on 05/03/2008, -6/+65Try German. The Bugatti name is Italian, but the Veyron was designed and built by the Volkswagen Audi Group
- castevens, on 05/03/2008, -4/+44I can't believe that Silva GT3 is only $75,000. The next closest one is $325,000 and all the way up to $1.5 million
- warren8, on 05/03/2008, -2/+38I hate that website with the burning fire and hatred of a thousand suns.
- hartley, on 05/03/2008, -0/+26They're missing a 1, the price is actually $175,000
- Lendon2020, on 05/03/2008, -0/+19I'm surprised that there's no Ferraris in the list.
- DonSlice, on 05/03/2008, -5/+23My dream car has always been the McLaren F1 ( http://www.coolsupercars.com/wp-content/pics/2006/ ... )... Now it is the Bugatti Veyron... The car looks like an early version of a modern Batmobile.
- venicerocco, on 05/03/2008, -0/+17Here's a video clip of the Top Gear Bugatti Veyron speed test. Possibly the best 10 minutes you'll have this weekend:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hEZc4JMMsk - Emachine, on 05/03/2008, -4/+17Italian name, made/designed by Germans, assembled in France. What a car!
- ladyarcher85, on 05/03/2008, -1/+12I refuse to click a forbes slideshow link. I'll just wait for someone to post the list here.
- jbmcb, on 05/03/2008, -1/+12No Caterham CSR? Top Gear took one around their track and it beat everything else they've tested, even a tweaked out Koenigsegg CCX and the Porsche GT2.
These luxury "Sports Cars" are kind of silly. A sports car is supposed to do one thing well - go fast. It doesn't need air conditioning, or a 13 speaker sound system, or powered seats. It needs to go fast, and weight is the enemy of speed. The only reason to buy one of these overpriced blingmobiles is to show off how much money you have. If you can afford a $500,000 exotic, you can easily afford a real $200,000 sports car that will smoke it on the track, AND a $200,000 luxury car that's much nicer to drive around town. The $100K you save will be spent on gas. - CrashKinkaide, on 05/03/2008, -0/+11This article really makes me yearn for the next series of Top Gear.
- jseres, on 05/03/2008, -0/+10They forgot the Koenigsegg CCXR which is the CCX with a motor that accepts biofuel that achieves 1018 brake horsepower. You can pay something like $100,000 to have your current CCX converted. So that pretty much makes it the 2nd on the list, just behind the SSC Aero.
- DonSlice, on 05/03/2008, -3/+12Did you read the description?
- psykiv, on 05/03/2008, -7/+15FFS. It's French.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bugatti_Automobiles_S ...
"Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. is a French automobile manufacturer located in the French town of Molsheim, Alsace, France. "
If you don't believe wikipedia
http://www.bugatti.com/en/home/contact.html
Their address shows as
Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S.
1, Château Saint Jean
Dorlisheim
67120 Molsheim
France - brstilson, on 05/03/2008, -1/+9Yeah, how DARE people with a lot of money buy expensive things, comrade!
- jcaino, on 05/03/2008, -5/+13And the 2009 ZR1..for a fraction of the cost of most of the vehicles named in this list...
- venicerocco, on 05/03/2008, -0/+8VW Beetle I think wins that.
- rizzo2008, on 05/03/2008, -0/+7No the Veyron is built in France but was engineered in Germany and is still a subsidiary of the Volkswagen group.
- rovsky, on 05/03/2008, -0/+7what about the atom...its a car, its in production, and its certainly fast.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaWoo82zNUA - CaseyB, on 05/03/2008, -0/+7What part of "currently in production" do you people find so hard to understand?
- saury316, on 05/03/2008, -0/+7missing the Ariel Atom 2 and the Caterham Superlight R500
- knowitman, on 05/03/2008, -2/+9You mean the Z06. The ZR1 is in a different class from the Z06.
- hartley, on 05/03/2008, -1/+7The McLaren F1 can still handle better.
- apollomurga, on 05/03/2008, -0/+6That was ***** epic.
- DarkSideWRX, on 05/03/2008, -1/+7Roadster is hella slow. and the interior is squeaky. And the steering is way over assisted. And the brakes suck. and there is no trunk space. And you cant find nice wheels for it anywhere cus ***** Mercedes decided to put three lug hubs on it for some reason...
- warriorscot, on 05/03/2008, -1/+7Not from any test I have ever seen, Top Gear had one and allot of the other cars of its generation up against more modern ones and while they won straight line races they all handled poorly next to newer cars.
- Kennerk, on 05/03/2008, -0/+5he's talking about the car, not the company..
- inactive, on 05/03/2008, -0/+5And how long does it take to reach 260?
- inactive, on 05/03/2008, -2/+7to be fair neither can a veyron
- Fudgemonkey903, on 05/03/2008, -6/+11and the forgot the Mclaren F1 that goes 231 MPH
- rizzo2008, on 05/03/2008, -0/+5Not anymore its a subsidiary of the Volkswagen group
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bugatti_Automobiles_S ... - essjay, on 05/03/2008, -3/+8And the Pagani Zonda F isn't in production anymore, so shouldn't be on the list. And neither should the Mclaren F1, Fudgemonkey. It says cars currently in production.
And really, the Bugatti Veyron is almost entirely German. All VW and Audi parts. - joeydoo, on 05/03/2008, -3/+8Mercedes Maclaren.... Maclaren is a British company, they make the car in UK I believe.
- warriorscot, on 05/03/2008, -0/+5Any Muppet can drive a super car, anyone can drive one round a track and do ok, Bikes on the other hand take longer to learn to ride, takes ages in most countries to get licensed for powerful ones and aren't as good on a race track and even if they were most people couldn't drive one round it.
Its also less impressive to have a fast bike given the advantage of power:weight than it is for a heavier car in engineering terms, I look at a nice car and I find more interesting bits of kit than I do with a bike.
You also have to face the fact that bikes aren't as universally appealing as cars, you either like bikes or you don't where as cars for some reason can be appreciated more universally, people who have no idea about cars can appreciate a good looking car whereas bikes are by nature all function and to many they look much the same as each other not the bikes fault or the bike makers its just a part of what they are. - rizzo2008, on 05/03/2008, -0/+5The Caterham is brutally fast but it can't break the speed these cars can reach in a straight line. It is probably faster around a decent track in many cases though.
- DarkSideWRX, on 05/03/2008, -1/+6And who the ***** asked you? Since when are we talking about bikes?? Where in the article does it say "and no sport bike can hand with these cars."?? You must be a squid.
- neocr0n, on 05/03/2008, -0/+5I can't understand why you are being dugg down your more right than the article. An Italian man founded Bugatti in France. The company has all its routes in France but the Bugatti brand is owned by Volkswagen and the Veyron its self is German designed German built.
- jimmy17, on 05/03/2008, -0/+4http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HtBpnu6OiSs&feature ...
My personal favorite. - warriorscot, on 05/03/2008, -0/+4You can always take your car to places without speed limits be it a track or unlimited road.
- rizzo2008, on 05/03/2008, -2/+6The Z06 maybe but the ZR1 can smoke it
- Antwan718, on 05/03/2008, -0/+4Or the SSC Aero
- mrbenns, on 05/03/2008, -0/+4depends how high up the plane you throw it out of is
- apollomurga, on 05/03/2008, -0/+4Why not have a luxury car that can also go quite fast?
- inactive, on 05/03/2008, -3/+7Even standing still they are works of art.
- DarkSideWRX, on 05/03/2008, -1/+5Enough with the Frenchmen trying to take national credit for the Bugatti. The company is owned by Audi and built in Germany. With Audi's W16 engine and what im assuming is a modified version of Lamborghini's AWD system that Audi also developed. The name is Italian, is WAS based in France but is not a GERMAN car.
Last post i promise. - midejitsu, on 05/03/2008, -0/+4It’s just GT – without the 40, and it’s no longer in production.
- neocr0n, on 05/03/2008, -0/+4German Autobahn.
- rizzo2008, on 05/03/2008, -0/+3Perhaps but its but ugly
- DoubleTap84, on 05/03/2008, -1/+4What are you high? If you mean a turbo Hyabusa can beat them in a straight line to over 200mph then maybe but around any type of race track the bikes would be handed their asses.
