- skaface69, on 01/17/2008, -0/+18The biggest problem with the "new" muscle cars from the American manufactures, is that fact they for the most part they are fairly expensive, and fly in the face what muscle cars were in the sixties and early seventies: affordable and bare bones, big horsepower, street legal race cars.
Most likely with will cost for a base model somewhere in the range of 35-40K. My fathers 1969 440 Six pack roadrunner only cost $2500. So using the inflation calculator at http://www.westegg.com/inflation/ using 1969 as the year and 2500 as the price, the inflation , and all things being equal, the inflation adjusted price would be around 14000. - DaveClarkOne, on 01/17/2008, -2/+17I owned the original, back in the day. This update is on the bland side of things. My two cents worth.

- piper999, on 01/17/2008, -0/+11Storing bodies.
- bossm4n, on 01/17/2008, -3/+14Can I get mine with Jalopnik stenciled down the side as well?
- BuddyDoQ, on 01/17/2008, -1/+11Not gonna happen for a long time. Living in a perpetual "open road" where the right of passage is a set of keys and a plastic permission slip of freedom... yeah, we tend to find ourselves with nothing but love for the feral growl of well tuned machine. I say this, while driving one of the most practical cars on the market, a little '07 Hyundai Accent that only cost me 25 bucks to fill up every week or two. But the dream of gunning it parallel to the border, screaming through the desert in an all American muscle car will never die.
- wohho, on 01/17/2008, -3/+12keeping the wallet in the pocket will be difficult with this one.
- Weasel_DB, on 01/17/2008, -1/+10I own a 2006 Dodge Charger with the HEMI engine. I traded a 95 benz in on it. What a mistake it was! The Charger is such a hunk of crap. The fit and finish of nearly every piece is flawed. The sunroof doesn't close correctly half the time, the tranny slips, and the passenger seat power controls have broken twice now. I have 28k on the odometer and it's in far worse shape than my benz was with over 100k on it. Yes, I do drve it hard but come on, it's a "Muscle Car". Ya, right. I really wanted to trade up to this car when it was released but now, no way. I'll be buying a BMW or a Benz.
- hs112186, on 01/17/2008, -4/+13MOPAR!!!!!!!!!!! i hope they have a hemi version also. SRT never disappoints.
- viergang, on 01/17/2008, -4/+12Needs moar Kowalski.
- 1jaxstate1, on 01/17/2008, -4/+12Why is the frickin' back of it so long.
- drinkdrankdrunk, on 01/17/2008, -12/+20It looks stupid. I agree with their choice for retro styling, but i think this is a failed attempt.
- LilBoyLuver, on 01/17/2008, -1/+9Why stop there? Give me a spaceship any day.
- Ryan2845, on 01/17/2008, -8/+16I'm sure it will be really fun to drive, but it just looks so boring to me.
- Homerr, on 01/17/2008, -1/+7R/T version + shaker hood + high impact colors FTW
- MrIso, on 01/17/2008, -0/+6If they know what's good for them, it better have a farkin manual transmission!
- ScottyDontKnow, on 01/17/2008, -0/+6why the ***** did they put the white back up lights right in the middle of the red tail lights? Looks horrible like that. In the concept they were below and the tail light was a solid red bar.
- JediMindTricks, on 01/17/2008, -2/+8A challenger appears!
- fix8ed, on 01/17/2008, -1/+7Like an NSX eh? Maybe if you've had a case of beer, a dozen shots of everclear, smoked a few joints, and stumbled into a wall that cracked your glasses...then yeah, I guess this could resemble an NSX...
- mustafya, on 01/17/2008, -1/+7Dodge has confirmed it will have the same 6.1L hemi as the charger and magnum srt-8. 425hp 420 tq
- GoingPostal, on 01/17/2008, -8/+13So retro, sweet.
- joelav22, on 01/17/2008, -3/+8um what? are you retarded? I doubt this will have anything OTHER than a hemi
- designer, on 01/17/2008, -1/+6I'm a Ford guy but I have to admit...very nice.
- Crosshare, on 01/17/2008, -3/+8Umm, what's the point of remaking a muscle car if it doesn't look like a muscle car?
- understeer, on 01/17/2008, -2/+7Vanishing Point reference for the win.
- wrestlingnrj, on 01/17/2008, -0/+5That's because the mid 90's benz and bmw's were tanks, now they are crap for reliability (this coming from my brother who is a lead tech at a MB dealership). Sounds like you got a bad apple on the charger. I've got an 07 and haven't had a single problem with it other than I keep buying parts to make it go faster.
- AlexanderBlue, on 01/17/2008, -0/+5How does this look anything like an NSX?
- sputza, on 01/17/2008, -0/+4Mustang eat your heart out!

- inactive, on 01/17/2008, -1/+5Right around the same time you hippie tree-huggers stop making every ***** issue about the environment and stop trying to take away consumer choice or general hobbies.
- RalphDibny, on 01/17/2008, -1/+4EFF-YES!!! Seriously can't wait to get tailgated and promptly cut off by arrogant pricks in this one...
- Chirp08, on 01/17/2008, -0/+3Initial offering will be Srt's with the 6.1l hemi, eventually they will offer the 5.7 and v6 models. The first run is all about limited production high horsepower.
- PhilMoskowitz, on 01/17/2008, -1/+4This is one of the most faithful hommage's yet and you consider it a failed attempt? If you want to see failed attempt look at the god awful camaro.
- wrestlingnrj, on 01/17/2008, -0/+3I just recently purchased an 07 Charger R/T (rear wheel drive though) and it has been my most favorite vehicle I've ever owned.
- mustafya, on 01/17/2008, -0/+3I agree completely. The idea of a barebones speed machine is gone by the wayside now. The srt-8's and equivalents from all manufacturs come with a bevy of options that boost the price far beyond the point of a muscle car.
- p51d007, on 01/17/2008, -0/+3Same here! I REALLY like the look of this. Has "old school" written all over it.
Now, if the engine holds up, it should be a winner.
The only sad thing......with the price of fuel these days, I hope the "muscle car" wars (part 2) will continue
to heat up. It was a LOT of fun in the 60's......with the technology of today, should be even more fun! - fix8ed, on 01/17/2008, -0/+3You're an idiot.
- chall2001, on 01/17/2008, -0/+3Whoa, this might be a little too retro. I'm sure the price, on the other hand, will be very "modern".
Why can't they just come out with true modern "muscle" cars? Stripped affordable cars will huge power would sell great. - swaxhog, on 01/17/2008, -1/+4Nice looking car except the boring paint job. I'm been sitting on the fence about buying an AWD Charger but they load it up with so much stuff it's topping $40k. So that plus gas most likely doubling in the next year has put a hold on buying a V8.
- crowbar77, on 01/17/2008, -1/+4Could grow on me... might be hard with that back end though.
- lazyslacker, on 01/17/2008, -4/+7The concept looked way better than this. This is almost too retro, to the point of just looking old and boring.
- fix8ed, on 01/17/2008, -0/+3"A poor effort IMO."
If you meant your comment then, I agree! - Rockmaninoff, on 01/17/2008, -0/+2IIRC the Dodge Hemi's have that cylinder distribution thing that turns off cylinders when not in use? Maybe someone can elaborate more.
- Rockmaninoff, on 01/17/2008, -0/+2Rumors are that the horsepower will actually be increased for the '09 models when they introduce the V6 as well. I think they're retaining the 6.1, and bumping horsepower up to the ~470 range.
- fix8ed, on 01/17/2008, -0/+2Yummy.
- fix8ed, on 01/17/2008, -0/+2The SRT package = 6.1L motor. The same motor that's in the current breed of SRT8s. They're good for 0-60 in 5 seconds and 1/4 miles in 12.9. Many have taken these motors well into the 100k range - the motor is fine.
- fix8ed, on 01/17/2008, -0/+2"The first run is all about limited production high horsepower."
...and markup...let's not forget that one. - fix8ed, on 01/17/2008, -0/+2There will be a V6 option which means no Hemi in some. The initial release however will be 6.1L 425hp of pure SRT awesomeness.
- MrYellow, on 01/17/2008, -2/+4Maybe you'd like it better if it looked like a Honda Civic?
- inactive, on 01/20/2008, -0/+2I own an 06 SRT8 Magnum and have had no issues with it in the 48K+ miles I've driven her.
You gotta keep all things in persepctive, there is the friday, 5 o'clock shift car from every manufacturer. -
