- WackyWorld, on 10/21/2008, -2/+45I'm a petrol-cap, round and stout
This is my handle, this is my spout
When you top the tank up, I will shout... - AmyVernon, on 10/21/2008, -2/+28That's really just pathetic.
- BradHAWK, on 10/22/2008, -1/+27...fill me up with diesel or GTFO.
- sessyman, on 10/21/2008, -2/+25They need to start staying at Holiday Inn Express.
- Ninh, on 10/21/2008, -2/+24Time to require literacy tests before hiring them onto the force?
- TimothyPrice, on 10/21/2008, -2/+23That says something about a lot of police officers. (Something bad.)
- dracostimpy, on 10/22/2008, -1/+19...fill me up with diesel, you stupid *****!
- dracostimpy, on 10/22/2008, -2/+20Comforting to know that these are the people given the power to hand out beatdowns legally, isn't it?
- thinboyslim, on 10/22/2008, -0/+16Just have to read the words Essex Police Force to realise why this has to be done.
- derekJAB, on 10/22/2008, -0/+13Yes, but it doesn't prevent our police from putting narrow filler tubes into larger inlets.
- kb9vgr, on 10/22/2008, -0/+10thats what she said
- nads, on 10/22/2008, -1/+11Sounds like reinveting the wheel. RTFC. (Read the F****** Cap)
- BullHunter, on 10/21/2008, -9/+18Police are law inforcers - not motor mechanics. Normal people just look at the sticker inside the fuel cap: "Unleaded Fuel Only"
- Aeaus, on 10/22/2008, -0/+8This vehicle runs on government incompetence with a 15% mixture of taxpayer money as required by law.
- Electric_Sheep, on 10/22/2008, -0/+5Here's a heads up.
It's the UK police. Unless it's a special response unit, they don't carry firearms. Ever. - korvan504521, on 10/22/2008, -0/+5/robber flees from scene
"STOP!
Or I'll say stop again!"
Robin Williams before he became a disney robot. - sockpuppets, on 10/22/2008, -1/+6How long until someone prank reprograms them to play gay showtunes?
- ccfccp, on 10/22/2008, -1/+5You can't fix stupid!
- webkami, on 10/22/2008, -1/+4We Britons have a lighter approach to life (and credit crunch) most of our news stories (and news websites) aspire to be The Onion.
- crownedgriffin, on 10/22/2008, -3/+6Aren't the nozzels and filler tubes different sizes for gas and diesel?
- Myztry, on 10/22/2008, -0/+3Do you get points for getting diesel inside a gas (LPG) tank?
- verkon, on 10/22/2008, -0/+3How about reprogramming thoose talking caps?
Rickrolling, soon coming to your vehicle - crucks, on 10/22/2008, -0/+3At least the Keystone Cops were silent. I'm thinking a Benny Hill song for some reason..
- paker, on 10/22/2008, -2/+5It only takes a couple of brain cells to fill a car with the proper fuel, and it's ENFORCERS, not inforcers. Hopefully you're not a cop.
- FriniK, on 10/22/2008, -2/+5Seriously, if they cant fill up a car with the right petrol (or gas) they shouldn't be allowed to carry firearms around...
or they should just bring in a "you break it you bought it" policy... - boyblitz, on 10/22/2008, -0/+3My dads a constable with the essex police force. I seen the device about 2 years ago. Its a little black box with a light sensor that you stick under the petrol flap and it shouts out really loud. "Warning! This car takes diesel fuel only. Warning! This car takes diesel fuel only." Funnily enough he only told me about it after he put petrol in his diesel car.
- Twinnie, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2I think this comes down to the fact that diesel nozzles are too big to put in petrol engines but petrol nozzles will fit in diesel cars. The UK forces have just cut spending by switching their standard patrol cars from petrol to diesel Vauxhall Astras. Probably just a bunch of them stuck in old habits.
- ByteGuerilla, on 10/23/2008, -0/+2Friend of mine applied to be a special constable. One section of the test he was given was full of ***** like this:
Select the correct sentence from the following:
a) Police officers may only use necessary force to detain a suspect.
b) Police oficers may only use necesary force to detain a suspect.
c) Police officers may only use neccessary force to detain a suspect.
d) Police oficers may only use neccesary force to detain a suspect.
I have absolutely zero confidence in the standards of filtering, and thus training, of our police. - DestroyFascism, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2I would make a good cop then, cus me smarter than them..
- Albumen, on 10/22/2008, -1/+3"Yanks" You brits are soooo quaint. Why not call us "world-dominating, attention whores" or something more forceful?
- Twinnie, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2It's Britain, the police don't carry firearms.
- Twinnie, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2I thought they were different, I accidentally tried to put diesel in my petrol once and I couldn't because the nozzle was too big.
- GeorgeStone2, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2Also read it in the tune of "I'm a little teapot"..
Didn't think that would have to be said. - Wodle, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2***** Yeah !!! I'm glad the Western Australian government has just hired 500 of these *****. That will make Perth better.!!
- StevenBullen, on 10/22/2008, -1/+3An observation...
http://digg.com/tech_news/DIGG_FRONT_PAGE_Why_even ... - Rockkybox, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2read your one back to yourself mate, it flows much less smoothly than the other, something to do with constants I imagine
- Rockkybox, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2My dad used to work in a petrol station garage, usually once a week someone would come in and say I put the wrong fuel in, as long as the engine hasn't been run you can just pump it out, he would then save money by using the contaminated petrol in his car. He also doesn't use heating from December onwards since he discovered he could collect thrown out Christmas trees and burn them.
- wellgood, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1In the UK as well
- caddoo, on 10/22/2008, -1/+2You do realise it doesn't make you 'stupid' or incable of being a police officer if you make a mistake on filling up fuel.
Just because you dirty yanks hate your police doesn't mean we hate ours. - boyblitz, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1Also at the end of the day you drive many different vehicles, and mistakes happen. Old news so buried.
- FriniK, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1oooh..my bad...
tasers? ...
how do kids play cops and robbers if cops dont have firearms? ... the whole fantasy is just out the door now. - scabbers, on 10/22/2008, -1/+2My last car had "unleaded petrol" stencilled next to the filler flap. I suppose that only works for people who can read.
- swmbuk, on 03/30/2009, -2/+3Only in US, seems like a much better idea though
- Hjacker, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1)))))
- Albumen, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1Or how about one that plays k.d. Lang and Mellissa Etheridge for diesel?
- nowhereelse, on 10/22/2008, -1/+1I'd be surprised if the list of people who have put the wrong fuel in a car didn't include brain surgeons, airline pilots and those with access to nuclear weaponry.
The difference with the police is they are stupid enough to advertise the fact. - stk198323, on 10/22/2008, -2/+2What? Well of course it does! It's in the list of stupid thing to do like you know... tasing the qwrong person because you could not decide which one was the one to be tased... Or other stupid thing like not being able to determine if you should take a men in jail or leave him alone after his wife called for domestic abuse...
If we can't trust people to make a basic and simple choice like: which freaking fuel goes in which vehicle when the nozzle are not the same size one - another, the cap has the right type of gas to use WRITTEN on it then yes we can't trust those person!
It's not like every nozzle and fuel tank was the same size and there was no other warning except in the driver's manual about what type of fuel to use! - Millsee, on 10/22/2008, -1/+1Mahoney!!!!!!!!!!!
