(For those of you not in the know, three full-electric Mini's were built for the movie for the scene in the LA sewers, when use of traditional combustion engines wasn't permitted by the city). - nawzyah, on 11/27/2008, -2/+11So far from the truth. Really sad that some Americans are stuck on the gas-guzzling, 1970's muscle-car mentality. It takes a real man to set your ego aside and put your environment first.
Besides, the MINI is such a joy to drive. - Brian48216, on 11/27/2008, -2/+11It's not my fault your penis is so tiny you need a ***** car to compensate.
Most guys that drive a mini cooper have penises so large that any more car and they'd need to buy new pants to fit their new enlarged penis. - cl2yp71c, on 11/27/2008, -1/+9You sure you don't have a vagina?
- whoreable, on 11/27/2008, -0/+8It would be strange driving with a remote control.
- kimbja98, on 11/27/2008, -0/+8The mini also has the best handling (stiffest chassis) for the type of car and hence is actually really good to drive. It may look "cute", but it also performs very well and is cheap considering the performance you get from it.
Plus, would you really want a girlfriend who only liked you for your car? I was hoping that most are intelligent to look past those things and actually like the person for who they are and not for what they have. - Robjayne, on 11/26/2008, -1/+8I have 280,000 on my 99 LHS, still runs good. Been holding out for full electric with 120 mile range. Wish I could afford the Tesla!
- inactive, on 11/27/2008, -2/+9Tall guys fit in the mini, I know a guy who owns a mini, and he's 6'7"
- cl2yp71c, on 11/27/2008, -1/+8And what do you drive, Dicky Calculator?
- peanutsinmypooh, on 11/27/2008, -2/+8Does it come with a spell checker?
- feliks2, on 11/27/2008, -3/+8Yeah, I'm 6'4" and I definitely fit in. Its just the American manufacturers than can't decently design "small" cars to fit large tall people.
- BESTenemy, on 11/28/2008, -0/+5Lease only? Just like GM's EV and Toyota's RAV4 EV once leased out, but gone never to be seen again.
It's almost like they make the cars cause the law requires them to manufacture a certain percentage of emission free vehicles, but says nothing about actually having to sell them.
To me it looks like Tesla is still the only company that actually sells electric cars while everyone else "pretends to" (cheap 20-mile range, 40mph cars don't count as viable transportation alternatives). - goerg, on 11/27/2008, -1/+6dugg for electirc
- cl2yp71c, on 11/27/2008, -1/+5^Take your case of penis envy somewhere else.
Kthx. - DrummerAndrew, on 11/28/2008, -0/+3I came to belittle the submitter for the poor spell check and then as I read the other comments about it I realized that it's just stupid to do so. I have nothing to say now. Oh well.
- specialK16, on 11/27/2008, -0/+3Question: How do recharge one of these and how much does it cost?
- chickenloco, on 11/27/2008, -1/+4It's not cheaper than the volt.
First, it is not for sale.
Second, it is about $800 a month to lease (Select customers only). - sprash, on 11/27/2008, -0/+3It is a great myth that safety correlates with the overall car size. Standard Mini crash test ratings are pretty good. As for the Mini-E, this car has not been tested yet.
- Ultomato, on 11/28/2008, -0/+3cool... now make one that doesnt cost 3 times a regular mini
- HappyScrappy, on 11/28/2008, -0/+3This is a 2 seater, only offered to people with garages and such to charge it in, and is leased only and must be returned when the lease is up.
This is the EV1 all over again 10 years later. - jschluchter, on 11/27/2008, -3/+5R before I except after T...

- feliks2, on 11/28/2008, -0/+2Hes almost 2 meters I believe.
- sh4rkb1t3, on 11/28/2008, -2/+4"the MINI E will accelerate from zero to 62 mph in 8.5 seconds"
LOL... looks like my full-size SUV will have no problems beating this car in a race. - qwertydvorak, on 11/28/2008, -0/+2"but in a Real race on a track the suv would lose."
depends on how long the race is... suv with 300 miles to the tank, or the little electric with 120 to the charge. - Ultomato, on 11/28/2008, -0/+2just swap out the battery... the mini would be so far ahead youd have time for multiple 40 second pit stop swaps.

- TheMoniker, on 11/28/2008, -0/+2While I'm not going to start calling cars, "chick cars" I do find the A series an ugly little car. I was kind of hoping that Mercedes could come up with a car that looked at least a little better than a Honda Civic.
Comparison:
Mercedes A:

Honda Civic:
http://images.intellichoice.com/images/AutoShows/B ... - inactive, on 11/28/2008, -0/+2They throw a lot of numbers in there but left out the deal breaker....run time and/or mileage. If they fail to mention how far it will go then it will not go nearly far enough. I wouldn't even consider an electric car unless it makes up to or over 200HP for 300 miles like my 'real' car does.
- skellener, on 11/27/2008, -0/+2I dig the Volt, electric Mini and the Jeep EV. Price is another matter. The electric Mini is only available for lease for one year at $800 a month. After that MINI takes the car back. No chance for buy out. Got $9600. to rent a car for the year? No gas to buy at least.

I'll take poodles for $500. - HappyScrappy, on 11/28/2008, -0/+1The electric version eliminates the rear seats also.
- StanMort, on 11/27/2008, -0/+1Have you seen the back storage area in a Mini? There's room for a couple of extra car batteries and thats about it.
- HappyScrappy, on 11/28/2008, -0/+1And it's a 2-seater.
- skellener, on 11/27/2008, -1/+2Jeep - Jeep EV!! Just like the Volt. 40 mi all electric.

i'm excited for the future :) - tduff, on 11/28/2008, -0/+1How much is a third of a meter?
- thoughtlover, on 11/28/2008, -0/+1Oops.. my math was off. ~40% at $2.50/gal, ~20% at $2.00/gal, ~0% at $1.50/gal
- connis, on 11/28/2008, -0/+1I have a gas powered Mini. I only drive 20 miles a day to work. I'd try it. As for being silent...I can make pretty good engine sounds.
- sh4rkb1t3, on 11/28/2008, -0/+1Also as slow as hell. 0-62 in 8.5 seconds. Completely silent as well. How masculine.
- mabba18, on 11/28/2008, -0/+1100-120 miles per charge. More then enough for the average commuter.
- Super6, on 11/28/2008, -0/+1Penn Jillete owns a mini, he's twice the size of Teller so he must be tall
