^Video of Ron Paul in his Corvette. - SevenTwo, on 08/08/2008, -1/+30I hear it requires coal.
- bwjacket, on 08/08/2008, -1/+29He still tries to crank start it.
- Colesif, on 08/08/2008, -6/+25He has his wife drive his car, since he can't understand how to turn it on and put it in drive.
- smacksaw, on 08/08/2008, -8/+27Wow...notque has sort of "steered" this into a libertarian vs. socialist thing here.
Weighing in as a libertarian that isn't obsessed with it, I would remind everyone that gov't is evil, but it's a necessary evil. One only needs to watch the movie Tucker to realise that "choice" and the "free market" are absolutely laughable when it comes to the auto industry.
Here's the deal. We need gov't the hell out of lives, except when we need them in our lives. Ralph Nader made cars safer. If you think that the free market was working so well, I ask you again: Tucker. What happened to all of that stuff?
We live in a world where the oil industry buys up technologies to help us as consumers and buries them. The auto industry does the same thing.
I'm a libertarian, but I'm not so idealistic that I would cut off my nose to spite my face. When you need gov't, use it. That's what it's all about. That's why the Founding Fathers gave us a Bill of Rights, a Constitution. They were not anarchists. They believed in less gov't, but GOOD gov't.
I like Ralph Nader. He's a scrupulous guy who is looking out for you and me. I'd rather it not come to passing laws and doing it Nader's way, though I'd rather do it his way than not at all. - razorsharpwit, on 08/07/2008, -18/+36Ron Paul! Steve Holt! '08

- inactive, on 08/08/2008, -5/+22McCain actually drives a pretty badass car.
Obama used to drive a badass car until he joined the Hybrid ***** Wave.
RWD sport sedans are awesome.
And Nader is a zombie moonbat. - diggerpleez, on 08/08/2008, -0/+16Be honest... you were picturing this weren't you?
http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u196/malonzo79/ ... - Sharky35, on 08/08/2008, -2/+14I read the McCain uses dead baby skin to upholster his seats, and he had anything "pointy" (aerodynamic) removed from the car. I can't seem to find the link to the article but since it's McCain I'm speaking about, I am sure I'll get a pass here on Digg.
- smacksaw, on 08/08/2008, -0/+9Uhh...wouldn't that actually be the literal definition of "scrupulous" be someone who stood by their principles?
I'm amused that you brought that up, because I happened to have voted for Nader...twice, actually. And my vote was not going to any Democrat. I would rather not vote than vote for Kerry or Gore. There was no way in hell I would vote for Bush, either.
You can cry over spilt milk all day about those of us who voted for Nader, but I have news for you: we voted our conscience as he ran on his conscience. If the Democrats actually did what they promised (look at the congressional approval ratings) and represented what Nader represents, he wouldn't need to run. It's not really that difficult of a concept to comprehend, that Nader is running for the small "L" liberals out there, not the neocon Republicrats like Kerry or Gore.
Talk about pul-leez...also, I'd like to ask you how Nader affected the Supreme Court. You give a protest vote far too much credit. Plus, if the Democrats had reached out to Nader and real leftist liberals who supported him in 2004 like they failed to do in 2000, it's a moot point. You either have a Supreme Court victory or the Democrats failing to rectify the Nader error YET AGAIN. He's convenient to blame and cry about, but if I spoiled your election by voting for him, let me be the first to say that I don't care, because Bush, Kerry or Gore, there is no difference. In fact, without Bush pointing out what a one-party system we really have, people like Ron Paul, Mike Gravel and Barack Obama would not have any sort of establishment to run against. - fmlive, on 08/08/2008, -1/+9McCain doesn't work tirelessly. He gets up at 11am and goes to bed at 6 right after Matlock. He's old.
- Sharky35, on 08/08/2008, -3/+11I guessed that Obama drove a 300c before I saw the article.
- AmyVernon, on 08/07/2008, -1/+9best part of the post.
- Gaffigan, on 08/08/2008, -3/+11I was so eager to see Ron Paul in his supposed Corvette that I totally missed the "uuiU" at the end of the link.
Damn you, Rick Astley! - john2kx, on 08/08/2008, -0/+8His feet come out of the bottom and he just runs.
- NoPis10, on 08/08/2008, -1/+9I can't believe you just did that.
- j4ck80, on 08/08/2008, -4/+12Most American cars are.
- Iztikeit, on 08/08/2008, -0/+7Very. The guy tried to make himself feel important with his "Libertarians are smarter" card.
I'm a libertarian and I found this article worthless. - dc5mike, on 08/08/2008, -1/+8Dead baby skin? Are you serious?
- inactive, on 08/08/2008, -2/+8Ron Paul has a kooky side?
Kooky makes perfect sence to me. - johndavidjack, on 08/08/2008, -1/+7What is the problem with trucks again?
Not everyone has the luxury of driving a Honda Civic to tote their Macbooks around. You do realize people do use trucks for actual work reasons, or because trucks are better suited for certain places... - byrdgang, on 08/08/2008, -0/+5I said "ah, a few respect points for Obama" when I saw the Chrysler 300C. I then read he dumped it. I take those respect points back.
I am all about the environment as much as the next guy (okay, fine, more than the next guy), but I am not dumping the 300C.
Respect to McCain for driving a Cadillac CTS. - tnoy, on 08/08/2008, -0/+5uuiU? Amateur.
- linkthewarrior, on 08/08/2008, -3/+8Never gunna click, uuiU!

- nopRT, on 08/07/2008, -3/+8Make sure you don't wear your seatbelt then. And disable your airbags.
- btschul, on 08/08/2008, -1/+6uuiU = fail. Better luck next time.

- inactive, on 08/08/2008, -3/+8Dugg for being the first article on Digg that bashes Obama and makes the frontpage
- notUncool, on 08/08/2008, -2/+7I always pictured Obama as more of a donk man.
http://img397.imageshack.us/img397/3946/donkzm8.jp ... - fuzzmeister, on 08/08/2008, -6/+11Couldn't we have just had an article about what the candidates drive, without the author going off about how all smart people are libertarians and his undying love for Ron Paul?
- hiimcliff, on 08/08/2008, -0/+5@notque
LOLZWUT - thwoom, on 08/08/2008, -4/+8did any one else find this article extremely condescending?
- dan222555, on 08/08/2008, -2/+6'"lusting" after a transportation machine.'
I got a good laugh out of that one.
notque needs to lighten up and get back to slobbering on Hugo Chavez's nuts. - absurdist, on 08/08/2008, -0/+4Funny, though. And I like Nader.
- mlvassallo, on 08/08/2008, -3/+7This is obviously written by a pissed off libertarian. Should be right up digg's alley.
- MadOgre, on 08/08/2008, -0/+4I have a truck. I drive it when I go into the mountains to hunt. During the week, I drive an economical little car. ***** You.
- dupems, on 08/08/2008, -1/+5Spoken like someone who has never driven one before.
- AngryPorkchop, on 08/08/2008, -0/+3Funny, I always figured that Obama just spread his arms out and kinda floated around like Jesus.
- bipolarruledout, on 08/08/2008, -1/+4Except that those with the means of production tend to enslave those without in a truly free market. Markets need to be kept in check to a certain extent.
- inactive, on 08/08/2008, -2/+5He totally failed to get the Umbrella rider on the seatbelt laws. If you go out in the rain without an umbrella you get fined and the police tazer you for good measure. This is an important act that needs to be passed for the good of all americans. In other words, if someone is stupid enough to drive without a seatbelt it is just Darwin at work and we should let them. This kind of government interference in everyday life is why we have the federal government as both the number one employer and the largest drain on the economy in this country. Nader should have minded his own business.
- paulmer2003, on 08/08/2008, -0/+3Better than a Ford Escape, lol.
- atschiltsch, on 08/08/2008, -0/+3Steve Holt doesn't even know who his father is...
- TVarmy, on 08/09/2008, -0/+3Promote the general welfare... Why did they mention it if the free market would do that for people on its own? Isn't that a key libertarian principle? Also, many supported public education, which was pretty left in its day. Ron Paul isn't too happy with our public schools these days, either.
- johndavidjack, on 08/08/2008, -0/+3@MadOgre
Everyone on digg thinks it's suitable to drive around a Honda Civic with tons of "Free Tibet", etc bumper stickers on it. Not everyone lives in the city or suburbia, but don't tell most of the people here that.
A fellow hunter, good to find a few on digg... - johndavidjack, on 08/08/2008, -1/+4Isn't this America?
People can drive whatever the ***** they want, provided it meets safety, weight requirements, and they have the correct license.
How about you take your liberal, condescending ass somewhere else?
You want to drive a car? Good for you, I have no problem. Judging people by their vehicles is stupid. Want me to judge you for your music collection, or something similar?
Calling someone a redneck or saying they have a truck to compensate for something is like telling you that you own a car because you want to fit in, you are a hippie, you smoke pot everyday, and are probably a bitch.
Don't like that generalization? Didn't think so. -
