- inactive, on 02/28/2008, -16/+104I can't wait to see all the people glossing Boyd now that he's dead. He left a trail behind him that anyone in the business knows is miles long. He took credit of all kinds of stuff he never designed. He was ALL hype no substance. And no I'm not one of his thousands of disgruntled workers or suppliers he never paid.
- manicallday, on 02/28/2008, -20/+85That guy was a dick. He treated people like *****. A complete hack. I've known people that he ***** in the past. Good hard working people. ***** him.
- GinsuGuy585, on 02/28/2008, -13/+52Not only was he bad at running his shop, his show wasn't even entertaining.
- dn11, on 02/28/2008, -0/+34He hired the most talented people and then slapped his name on their work. Then, when they inevitably left him in order to get better compensation and recognition for their work he would always take it as a personal offense.

***** him. Talentless ***** hawk. - mogebier, on 02/28/2008, -3/+25I watched his show a few times, and he was a complete ass.
I am surprised whatever passed for his heart hadn't exploded years ago.
His guys did build nice cars, though. But that doesn't make up for being a jerkoff. - piwy, on 02/28/2008, -1/+23His demise does not suddenly erase his douchebaggery.
- cliffzdude, on 02/28/2008, -2/+23I never met the guy, so I take what I saw on his TV show with a grain of salt. However, I did see hourly guys getting worked 12-18 hours a day for 14, or 21, or even more days straight without a day off in sight. Given how much overtime the guys *should* have been making, I have to wonder if he paid overtime as he was supposed to. If he did, he needed more talent in the shop, it'd have been more fiscally efficient. The guy seemed to know the value of a dollar, which always made me think he may have been screwing his workers out of their due compensation.
His cars were mee-too's anyway. Stand his work against another TV Hot Rod guy such as Chip Foose, and his cars just didn't hold a candle... - ShaneApex, on 02/28/2008, -7/+26Never liked him. He never showed any respect for his employees that did all the work.
- dizturbd2, on 02/28/2008, -2/+20I hope people hate on me like this when I get my TV show and piss on everyone.
- erikerikerik, on 02/28/2008, -2/+20I loved watching other car shows and a few of his ex workers that where fired ended up at other shops. love it.
- phycon, on 02/28/2008, -0/+18It was apparent on TV that this guy was a slave driver. He had his workers working on weekends, days off and holidays and no overtime pay. Any problems that came up and he would take it out on his under paid slaves. It was difficult watching him abuse them.
Also, you people say he was an original thinker? Projects like the Aluminum Bucket, Steel Bucket,
Whatever Bucket.... they all looked the same. - mykalimba, on 02/28/2008, -7/+24Sorry, but the guy was a bigger tool than anything you could find in the Snap-On truck.
- reichg, on 02/28/2008, -0/+16at little hot under the collar? he had soooo many people quit working for him because he didnt give them any time to work on stuff and he would complain all the time and cut job times in half sometimes. I bet the typical coddington workers got at least 50-60 hours a week and got hell for overtime.
- lmulaire, on 02/28/2008, -29/+44A man of many ideas. He will be missed.
- ATH025, on 02/28/2008, -2/+14"Don't worry, family of Mr. Coddington, theres a website on the internet full of immature douchebags that laugh at pictures of cats all day who give you their condolences."
- lazyink, on 02/28/2008, -12/+24whatever kinda person he was.. doesn't matter.. someone died.. show a little respect. RIP
- bigbadgoat, on 02/28/2008, -2/+13Foose is one of those "ex-employees"
- N00F, on 02/28/2008, -0/+11I agree. The guy was an *****. I lament for his family, but I won't miss him. (Hell maybe he was a dick to his family too?)
- vlaz0r, on 02/28/2008, -8/+18the guy was SCUM, now i can live easier knowing hes dead.
- romistrub, on 02/28/2008, -5/+15You damn someone to "eternal suffering" [citation needed] for being a lousy cook? You must be great with people.
- textalon, on 02/28/2008, -0/+10Good luck to that suck-ass Supervisor Duane Mayer getting a job when Boyd's operation shuts down. he was a douche on the show.
- mykalimba, on 02/28/2008, -1/+10I agree, but you'd think (hope?) that with nothing else to do but run the business and be the visionary, he'd have a little more respect for the grunts that are doing the work and putting money in his pocket.
- TomTruelle, on 02/28/2008, -1/+10haha the deadliest catch is a pretty awesome show.
- partysan, on 02/28/2008, -1/+10No doubt. I even had to write a complaint e-mail to Discovery Channel Canada once, for delaying the start of a new "deadliest catch" season because of his ***** show.
- YellowDucati, on 02/28/2008, -20/+29My condolences. No matter what was said about his personality, he was a jewel to the Hot Rod, custom car lifestyle.
- Omgitzurdad, on 02/28/2008, -5/+14wtf is wrong with u
- sdigroup, on 02/28/2008, -7/+16RIP.......but he was a real dick to his employees and for that im sure he feeling the heat of a pitchfork
- brad3378, on 02/28/2008, -0/+9I'm going to hell for this.......
http://www.cybersalt.org/cl_images/1zzzzxa/cars/ca ... - aoru, on 02/28/2008, -2/+10I'll say he was an arrogant pompous narcissistic prick and i have wished for his death on more than one occasion. He hurt a lot of people to masturbate his douche bag ego. His products were crap and cost out the ass. I feel sorry for the people that dished out 100's of thousands for his autograph on the seats.
- greenlight2001, on 02/28/2008, -1/+9Even if you're NOT lying, I HIGHLY doubt you'll say that "the people over at digg said hi". Stop stroking your ego because you MAY know the Boyds.
- dicknuts, on 02/28/2008, -1/+9I wholeheartedly agree. That bald-headed ***** he put in charge needs his skull smashed with a ball peen hammer, too.
- brad3378, on 02/28/2008, -0/+8Not to mention a disgruntled ex wife.
- Cryoniq, on 02/28/2008, -9/+16Hate to say it... but.. finaly.. I was so annoyed by the series taking up space there could be something much better at. And I always had the feeling he had some kind of disease going on as well so I am not surprised.
- ar0ne, on 02/28/2008, -15/+22May Boyd Coddington and his marvelous beard rest in peace. A sad day indeed.
- inactive, on 02/28/2008, -0/+7I can haz hotrod caskit?
- wrenchone, on 02/28/2008, -10/+17Come on people, try to show some civility and respect. You may not personally care for him, but he left behind a family and friends who will miss him.
- 68024, on 02/28/2008, -2/+8Yeah, and I'm sure they're all reading Digg tonight and giving a rat's ass about any of our opinions.
- Eddiecoaster, on 02/28/2008, -0/+5Why do you think Foose left his shop to start his own
- BluesFan, on 02/28/2008, -0/+5That's for giving Charlie hard time!!
- blahyawnblah, on 04/28/2009, -2/+7Some people need to realize that he didn't always have people working for him. You can't just start making beautiful cars from the word go. When you're that good at something people will gravitate toward you and will help make what you do that much better. There aren't too many other people that could assemble the kind of talent he had in his shop. So the guy was a dick, big deal, he was old.
- bbqsalad, on 02/28/2008, -2/+7Wtf man its not ron paul stop spamming.
- r3aper, on 02/28/2008, -3/+7TV shows, especially Reality TV shows, are about made up drama. Don't be dumb enough to think what you see on American Hot Rod is real. Boyd changed the Hot Rodding world before most of you were born. We've lost an incredible talent today and the car world will suffer for it.
- AntBing, on 02/28/2008, -6/+10Karma is a bitch.
- mykalimba, on 02/28/2008, -2/+6Who will wear those wacky print shirts now? I've got my share of Tommy Bahama Hawaiian shirts, but for heaven's sake, couldn't he wear a solid color every once in while!
- pineappleguy, on 02/28/2008, -0/+4Like if they give a ***** what we think...
- fungke, on 02/28/2008, -0/+4I know a lot of what was on the show was dramatised but you still got the impression that he wasn't a nice guy. He did have an air of arrogance about him.
I can't honestly say I'll miss him.
I do feel sorry for those guys who worked for him. Hopefully some of them will go on and gain the respect they deserve, there was some real talent in that workshop. - reichg, on 02/28/2008, -1/+5*****?
