- sekramer, on 06/22/2009, -0/+5gallons per 100 mile makes so much sense--even if car companies don't start using the figure, car mags and blogs should list that stat every time.
- stoanhart, on 06/23/2009, -1/+5Better yet, L/100km like, you know, the entire ***** planet uses.
- barney74, on 06/23/2009, -0/+2I have a problem with changing the mileage standard. When you get the mpg and you know the capacity of your fuel tank, then you can do quick calculation to figure the distance you can approixmately travel before needing to refuel. is it easier to figure 28mpg and an 18 gallon tank or 2.8 gp100m with an 18 gallon tank. Also say you don't have a nifty on board to give you the mileage you made on a tank (and yes some cars and trucks still don't). You would have to figure it out by hand. I put in 14.4 gallons and went 332 miles. 332/14.4~23.1 mpg : (14.4*100)/332~4.3 gp100m
For the metric users please sub in the appropriate items. - asgardshill, on 06/23/2009, -0/+1Slight threadline fail here - to "make way" for something implies that the idea would move out of the way of or not interfere with the implied goal of constructing "tomorrow's smarter vehicles". Saying "Pave The Way" instead would have been much more concise.
- nightmyst999, on 06/23/2009, -0/+1Networked cars opens up a ton of possibilities - both good and bad. It's a great idea, though.
