"What is something that will never, in fact, happen?" - maximilen, on 08/27/2008, -1/+24Henry Ford would be proud. Not... 100 years ago his Model-T got 25mpg, and we still can't do better than that?
- leonardutah, on 08/27/2008, -0/+18Roads? Where we're going we...well I guess we'll probably still need roads. Damn.
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -0/+17What happens when you run out of gas? Do people start falling out of the sky in their big fancy flying cars?
- ricgalbraith, on 08/27/2008, -0/+15A Flying De Lorean?... HEH Havn't Seen one of those... in..... 30 years
- slapded, on 08/27/2008, -0/+10people cant drive in 2 dimensions, let alone 3
- erichw1504, on 08/27/2008, -0/+92020? That's like... 5 years from now!... ?
- irfanmp, on 08/27/2008, -4/+13The pause should be before the "not," not after. For example, "Pamela, I am no longer attracted to you...NOT!"
- dankoleary, on 08/27/2008, -1/+10Hoverboard >>> flying cars
- floridiot2, on 08/27/2008, -0/+8I'm sure insurance companies will love that.
- BA88, on 08/27/2008, -1/+9As much as I want to go to the future, I can't seem to get out of the damned present :(
- inigomntoya, on 08/27/2008, -0/+7yes, like programing a computer to automatically bury all of your comments so we don't have to!
- Mothh, on 08/27/2008, -1/+8We have already have personal flying vehicles ( http://tinyurl.com/4dbyjw ). Why do they have to look like suped up Mazda?
- rbk303, on 08/27/2008, -0/+6Passenger and driver-side parachutes?
- pieceofred, on 08/27/2008, -2/+8I've got a car of the future: the edsel.
- inactive, on 08/26/2008, -4/+10That future is not so far away
- consoneo, on 08/27/2008, -0/+6See, I just figured he was using the ... as a thinking symbol because he didn't know how long ago the Model-T came out :) Oh man am I glad you guys are around to help me out :)
- Gustomucho, on 08/27/2008, -1/+7Sure we can, but do you really want a 20hp engine?
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -0/+6Flying in 3 dimensions will never be a reality until the controls are completely taken away from the human drivers and an automated (99.999% safe) system is in place. Imagine the number of flaming hulks dropping from the sky each day or cars that ran out of gas spiraling out of control.
- gtluke, on 08/27/2008, -0/+6in the year 2000 everyone will have flying cars
- krete, on 08/27/2008, -1/+6Mirror:
http://content.answers.com/main/content/wp/en/6/6a ... - acmaurer, on 08/26/2008, -4/+9I'm totally ready for flying cars... yeah, that's right.
- mediaspree, on 08/27/2008, -0/+5I saw a Delorean on the road yesterday. Now that is a car from the future!
- Yetisquatch, on 08/27/2008, -0/+5thats right, run that meme straight into the ***** ground. ignore the fact that it doesnt even come close to being relevant to this topic. show it whos boss. and remember, the more you use it the cooler youll be and everyone else will be envious of how cool and original you really are.
- Mootabolife, on 08/27/2008, -0/+4And what happens when those fast flying cars behind you whiz by right at you?
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -0/+4yeah, that's what i want over my head, a drunk flyer...lol
- Gustomucho, on 08/27/2008, -0/+4Fail safe, @5 % left of fuel the car go into security mode and with the GPS guide you to the nearest gas station, if there is none in the general area, you are forced to land to safety.
We are far from flying car, but GPS, internet and all the current generation stuff can prevent such thing to happen. - bjs3171, on 08/27/2008, -0/+4can you imagine how much gas it would take to run a flying car?
- kefkaantakrist, on 08/27/2008, -1/+4Until your gas gauge breaks?
Just playing devil's advocate. I think these sorts of complaints are rather silly. The engineers will think of all these obvious things in the design phase and there will be plenty of failsafes. Sure, once in a while they will all fail. Just like with every other technology. - Greengoo, on 08/27/2008, -0/+3It's back... FROM the future!
- jack0lant3rn, on 08/27/2008, -0/+3i've got to imagine vehicle connectivity is the ability of cars to communicate with each other to help them avoid hitting one another or possibly help with traffic flow
- ZackScott, on 08/27/2008, -6/+9As you may or may not know, I have way too many dreams of future cars. Here are my top 5 outlined in the bullet block below. The first 3 are concepts, the last 2 are twists on popular brands:
A. Solar Car: This car will be covered with solar panels that will catch solar rays and ride them like waves so that the car can fly.
B. Mud Car: This car is made from mud.
C. Aquo Car: This car runs on water because it has gills which filters water (even salt water!) to use as fuel, drinking water for the driver (and passengers). This car runs great in the rain or in the ocean and does not get dirty. Contains hooks to catch fish for the driver (optional upgrade).
D. The Hummer H0 - Bigger than the H3, H2, and H1 combined. Runs on firepower and has more firepower than any army tank. Used by the army and navy exclusively. And wealthy drivers. Only for Americans.
E. Dodge Daytona 2020 - A futuristic version of my 1992 Dodge Daytona that runs on anything. Must include hatchback! The 2020 part is a play on words because it is the year and the fact the car's windshield is a prescription lens that will make you see 20/20 out of it. - directive0, on 08/27/2008, -1/+4Wow... it was a quote from the movie, math whiz.
- Andyschism, on 08/27/2008, -1/+4Do you like my owl?
Its artificial? - richthomas, on 08/27/2008, -0/+3glide?
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -0/+3LUNATIC COMMIE ALERT!! The only empire falling is your own sanity.

- BXRWXR, on 08/27/2008, -0/+2What the hell happened here? Did this thread get struck by a weird laser or something? About 3/4ths down it starts getting very silly indeed.
- Rixar13, on 08/27/2008, -2/+4Toyota, is all I have say. They Rock.
- Virgule, on 08/27/2008, -0/+2Would you like 'componentised' cars?
It start with a frame, which is fit for the type of vehicule you want. Be it a pickup truck, a compact sedan, a roadster or even a sport coupe. You then choose from a choice of dashboards, seats, body panels and equipments. All independent from each others; you can add A/C later on with ease.. buy the component and outfit the car with it right away.. How about a new look? Buy yourself a new body kit or dash design and trade-in / recycle the old one.
Its made for that. Forget about 3rd party 'body kits'; now its the real deal.
"Build you own" going literal sense.. - DerangedPenguin, on 08/27/2008, -0/+2You young whipper snappers better get working. I want my flying car before I am too old to fly. Back in the 1960's they said I would have it by the year 2000, the only flying I do now is when I accidentally overdose on my arthritis pain medication.
- datastorageguy, on 08/27/2008, -0/+2Like building big statues of Lenin, or buying mittens for people so their hands don't freeze off while standing in line for toilet paper perhaps.
- ricksite, on 08/27/2008, -0/+2In 2020 you will go to a car show and see a restored 1986 Chevy Celebrity complete with a missing hub cap.
- Andyschism, on 08/27/2008, -0/+2I was getting dugg down because someone cant remember ***** Blade Runner. Not at Green.
- jonshipman, on 08/27/2008, -1/+3like casinos, beer, and hookers.
in fact, forget the beer and casinos - inactive, on 08/27/2008, -1/+3I'd rather have a chariot drawn by 20 horses than a 20hp automobile!
- clovissimo, on 08/27/2008, -0/+1"Another interesting prediction is that rather than having just one car for all our transpo needs, the consumer will shift toward owning a diverse “garage” of vehicles. Which is to say, “lifestyle changes will allow access to luxury or larger vehicles during the weekends, as an example, while a small, efficient vehicle will suffice for daily commuting needs.”
Already there. I think alot of others are too. - Gustomucho, on 08/27/2008, -1/+2I think we will not drive anymore in a couple of decades, the car will drive by itself while we chill on the back seat, browsing the web, shopping and what not. It will be all part of the grid controlled by a Quantum computer. You could sleep your way to anywhere.
Imagine the future options for your car : Size of the LCD, type of bed or futton, mini-bar, internet speed, number of LCD, microwave, carpet or hardwood? It will be like a house room, and you decide whatever you want in it. - slapded, on 08/27/2008, -0/+1If it happens.. I guess by 2250.. If we havent blown eachother up by then
- Virgule, on 08/27/2008, -0/+1Probably the same damn thing an aircraft does: SCCRRRREEEEEEEAAAAMAMMMM!!!!
